A group of women went to the Prophet (pbuh) and asked him why Allah (swt) didn’t address women when He addressed the believers. The Prophet (pbuh) told them that God addressed all the believers in the masculine form because that’s how a group of people are addressed. They in turn told the Prophet (pbuh) that they wanted Allah (swt) to address them specifically as women.

And then this verse was revealed:

“Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so - for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.” [Ahzab: 35]

Interestingly enough, instead of telling women they needed to be quiet or should just conform to ideas without fully being in favor of them, the Prophet (pbuh) validated them. God validated them.
