言霊 T h e P o w e r O f W o r d s • Sticks and stones may break my bones, But words can also hurt me. Sticks and stones break only skin, While words are ghosts that haunt me. Slant and curved the words-swords fall To pierce and stick inside me, bats and bricks may ache through bones, But words can mortify me. Pain from words has left its scar On mind and heart that's tender. Cuts and bruises now have healed, It's words that I remember. Brendan Byrne There is a power in words that people don't seem to understand. It's something you can't take back once it leaves your breath. You can't see whether the words you speak becomes a blanket of solace or a knife to the heart. Be responsible for your words. Kotodama 「言霊」is a Japanese phrase that I actually have up on my wall. To remind me what power I have. To remind me to be careful. To take responsibility of these words. Sorry this is a lot of writing, but it's a thought I've been having and I'd love to get opinions of but I just felt I needed to share. (at New Zealand)
