A zombie-bitten father tries to save his infant daughter in this bittersweet short film
So you’ve been bitten by a zombie. So long, conscious brain activity, hello craving for human meat. But the protagonist of the short film Cargo has bigger problems than his impending demise: he has to find a way to save his infant daughter, even if he has to die first to do it.
Directed by Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke, Cargo was a finalist in Tropfest Australia 2013. It’s also a rather clever take on zombie genre tropes, with a story that isn’t about the survival of self, but the survival of another.
His love is all encompassing.
I am so sick of people thinking that Moonrise Kingdom is just an entertainment movie because some guy wanted to make a movie about boy scout camp and call it ~quirky~ because it is actually a brilliant movie with themes and morals and symbolism and it's not just a frivolous recording of some kids at camp it is about children who act like fucked up adults because the adults around them are acting like children. that is some heavy shit right there and i want everyone to know it. Moonrise Kingdom is a brilliant movie goddamnit.

Saul Bass storyboards for Psycho
While shooting, Alfred Hitchcock worked only in Jeff’s “apartment.” The actors in other apartments wore flesh-colored earpieces so that he could radio his directions to them.

“Certainly fatal and dangerous, and she’s certainly the mother of all nightmares and I had great fun doing it because, it’s not very pleasant playing such nastyness, such violence and the character is a bit, a bit heavy. It’s the first time I’ve done this sort of thing. And there was this physical change that was important and there we are.”

Perhaps a bit of my own Philosophy
I experience and understand the world only in reference to itself. In that way, everything is connected. In every movie, book, and television show, there are references to other movies, books, and shows that are integral to our understanding of that text. The movie Rango is a perfect example of a text that I only fully understand in context to what I have previously encountered in other texts. Similarly, many current texts reference Alfred Hitchcock’s film Psycho and I understand those texts in reference to Psycho.
MORE ON THE UPCOMING PIXAR FILM “DIA DE LOS MUERTOS”
We already established that this film, directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3), was amongst Pixar projects for the future, that would be coming to theatres in 2015.Â
The film delves into this mexican holiday, and it (probably, it has not been made official yet) tells the story of a family, after a loved one dies, and he/she will accompany his /her relatives in a trip filled with adventure that will take place during the “dia de los muertos”.Â
In addition, it appears the film got almost canceled because of its polemic title. Thankfully, the project is still a go, but they are going to change the title, which is one of the reasons the release date of the film was pushed to 2016.Â
Other issues were involving the mexican community, feeling that this holiday is a great tradition they didn’t want stained by this film, if it was not a loyal and true portrayal of their culture.
Personally, I would love to see this film. First of all, its Pixar, they create amazing world which are ery sensitive to reality and humanity. They do their homework when it comes to cultural background too, just look at Brave. Also, I am peruvian, and The Emperor’s New Groove is not at all true to peruvian culture right now, or back in the Inca Empire then (like AT ALL). It’s just a film, just like telling a story, to have fun, to make people laugh. It’s not a documentary, so why would people get upset about something like this? I just don’t get it.
What do you guys think?
