Everything about this boy, Brighton finds, is warm. His smile, his compliments, his kisses. She melts into the warmth, every inch of her body molding into the empty spots of his like the final piece of a puzzle. She imagines what spending the night with him would be like — not in a physical way — just sleeping in his bed with him, his arms circled around her. Probably warm, she decides.

Max broke the kiss and looked at her eyes scanning over her every facial feature settling on her eyes. He looked into her eyes and smiled once again internally cursing at himself for finding her so intriguing.

She runs a hand through his hair, remembering what she’d said earlier about taking it slow but not caring at the moment. She lowers herself down onto her side, consequently pulling him down to his side next to her. She worms her way closer to him, careful not to part her lips from his.

He raised his eyebrows as she pulled him down with her, but he doesn’t argue. Instead he continues to kiss her letting out a soft sigh as she wiggled closer to him. Max intertwined their fingers and squeezed her hand a bit to let her know that he didn’t want to stop.

“That’s really sweet,” Bright says, grinning. She’s not used to compliments, and this boy seems to be filled to the brim with them for her. She leans in slowly, hoping to continue on with things that will inhibit either of them from speaking.

The boy had been grinning so much it started hurting his mouth. When Brighton leaned in he happily kissed her lips being gentle at first and as his tongue begged for entrance he pulled her closer to him almost so she was on her lap again.

“Oh, so he’s a real professional,” she jokes, allowing him to take her hand in his. “Do you have any ideas?” She lifts her foot into the air to show off her maroon knee highs. “Maybe a sock ad?” She then turns to look at the books she’d left unmanned. “Or maybe a non-profit PSA for reading?”

“Its not that I’m a professional I just don’t like sharing stuff when it’s in progress unless its ready for opinions” he said looking at their hands, smiling. “I don’t know” he said thinking about those two possibilities, “But it’s going to be good whatever it is because you’re in it.”

She takes a few cleansing breaths before lowering her hands down to her sides. “That is the lamest joke I have ever heard in my life.” Pushing off of the bed to sit herself upright, Bright notices that Max has put the camera down. “Wait,” she says, setting a hand on his knee. “Show me how we did!”

“Maybe, but you still laughed” he pointed out. Max shook his head, “Nope. Not until I figure out what I want to do and we finish it altogether. Then you can see it” he said grabbing the hand she had placed on his knee. 

She tries not to laugh, she really does, but the sound escapes from her lips regardless of how tightly she’d sealed them. She rolls over onto her back, covering her face with her hands, embarrassed of how funny she finds a joke so corny. “Oh sheet!” she repeats.

Max shut off the camera and set it on the table smiling at how she found the joke so funny. Max sat next to her and laughed as she covered her face with her hands. “I’m glad you think I’m funny” he said grinning
