Germanus, C.P., chapter 19: Attacks by the Devil., Father explains in great details of how Satan and the devils were allowed by God permission to attack and assault her by various means in order not to just test St. Gemma’s love for God but to purify her. One of the examples given was of Satan and demons yelling blasphemies.

"God isn't a magical genie" I say, except I know that genies are trickster creatures that go out of their way to take your wishes and twist them into the most harmful thing they can because they hate you, and thus I mean that if you don't word a prayer absolutely perfectly or get nasty intrusive thoughts while youre praying, God isn't going to take that and be like "Nope, sorry, you prayed it into being!". He knows what youre trying to say and he knows those nasty thoughts are intrusive and he isn't going to take your imperfect prayer and use it to hurt you or do something outside of your favour.

"I am the bread of life" (John 6:35), says the Lord. "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life...For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink" (John 6:54-55, NIV). God offers us His flesh and blood in love. This love of Christ in the Eucharist is expressed in a beautiful but rare icon of Christ portrayed as a pelican. In Christian history, the mother pelican was thought to pierce her breast until she bled in order to feed her young with her blood. Thus the pelican came to depict Christ our Savior, who feeds us with His blood in order to give us eternal life. In this image, the pelican is a metaphor for Christ in the Eucharist. The Eucharist reminds us of Christ's sacrifice, of the pain and suffering He chose to endure in His love for us. It is for this reason that some of our saints were known to have been in tears at every Eucharist. They cried every time they came to receive Communion because in the Eucharist they saw how much God loved them.
