Choosing winners from the short list was no easy task but the panel was on the whole were unanimous in their agreement with the choices made. https://www.creative-edinburgh.com/articles/creative-edinburgh-awards-2020-the-winners well done to everyone, what a fantastically creative city I live in!

The Motion Dance Collective Season 2: Episode 6 brings world renowned screendance artist Simon Fildes into The MDC Talks conversation with Omari 'Motion' Carter and Anna Clifford.  Simon is an international award-winning film-maker, artist, curator and teacher based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Simon; a self-proclaimed 'daydreamer', talks about the evolution of terminology in the screendance world, his connection to music and a desire to make art that inspires feeling.  He highlights the importance of making mistakes and giving yourself permission to fail in order to explore your own voice.  We shared our opinions on the value of watching other artists work and allowing yourself to have an opinion.  Simon also discussed some of the common trends in screendance and the impact Covid-19 is currently having on the screendance industry.Â

An Appreciation
An article I recently wrote. Now published on line in Loie digital magazine. It is an interesting intersection with “Coire Ruadh” as both films were shot in the same location about 4 years apart.
https://www.bestiasdanzantes.com "Coire Ruadh" is being screened in this programme from Santiago Chile. #Fauna [july 16 - 19. On line ] SUSPENDED Desires on Hold is a reflection on this time without future, in which we are suspended along with our desires, waiting to be embodied.  A time in which our fragilities, our fears and our deep individual and social needs emerge.A reflection on the desire to communicate, to touch ourselves, to care for ourselves, to embrace ourselves.  An attempt to recognize ourselves and find ourselves in the midst of uncertainty, despite the distances, through 4 short dance films and 4 viewpoints   We invite you to meet us, to share our wishes and reflections through this special program we have created in alliance with the Chilean streaming platform @escenix_cl

Imagine a home that is living and breathing, that moves from place to place, a home that we are born in and die in. The body is a home, can be a home and should be a home. The notion of 'the body as home' is a way of expressing a much needed sense of belonging and connection in the world. Sense of Centre explores how the body can play its part in this, the body being enough, the body being reliable, the body being a vehicle for change and the potential of the body to serve as a sanctuary or a refuge from the challenges of our current world. Sense of Centre is a search for a deep grounding, softness, connection, tangibility and the need to be home in the moving and dancing body.
