Tonight at the gym a man who looked like fuckin Thor asked me out and when I told him I was a lesbian he goes “oh. Chill. You know, my sister and I work out a lot together. She’ll be here tomorrow, same time.”

hoo, boy. let me tell you white lgbt+ people something. as a gay poc myself, i have always been and will always be a poc first. that means how i identify myself, that means how i interpret situations, and that means that if i have to choose between those two facets of my identity, i will certainly choose my poc status over the gay status. if i catch someone defending white gays over poc for problematic behavior that is universal to straight white people as well, i am going to be uncomfortable, but i will side with the poc. poc solidarity vs. gay solidarity? poc solidarity comes first and takes priority. it is not homophobia, something it is commonly mistaken for, it is making a legitimate point while some white gays think everything that doesn’t go their way is their being “oppressed.” being a poc, that is not something that i can erase or hide if necessary. i have to live my whole life as someone who is “openly” poc. being gay? i can hide that if i really must. i can keep myself safe from others who dislike it or even hate it. i can keep myself safe from that oppression. but excoticism, racial biases, and racism?
