Spectral: Chapter 5

For so long, memories are all they had of each other. It felt so surreal to be here.

Summary: Nyx Ulric is a war correspondent for the Insomnian Associated Press, and a busy boss means he’s sent to an unstable border zone. He’s assigned a “tour guide” who’s more of a bodyguard, and who’s entirely too attractive for his own good.

So the mini-scenario we made on livestream was that Nyx loses a chess match ;p. initially it was done with a sextoy chess set that we found, but i didn’t quite have the wherewithal to draw that this time.

“We can deliver a message, if you’d like. Or… a gift?”

Lady Lunafreya leaned forward on the couch across from him, beckoning a hand at him and the box, arm extended in offering. She looked kind enough, though Nyx had been wondering if her presence here, sitting next to Price Noctis, her own betrothed, was meant to be for his benefit. Another peace offering of sorts, as if to say if Prince Noctis and Lady Lunafreya could do it, if they could be happy together through their match, then so could he. As far as politics went, with all the hidden words and meaning, never saying what was true, Nyx knew the Lucians were, mostly, at least, on the honest front of things. Allies now, and with this marriage, for a long time into the future.

So it wasn’t mistrust that made Nyx shake his head.

“No,” he said, looking down again at the box in his hands, the delicate and shallow engravings on the surface of curved and intertwining branches. “No, this is something I’d like to give myself.”

This was written for Day 2, I even started it before the week even began… *sigh*

↳ Day 5.    Illness/hurt/comfort

Why Ignis was still in the city was unsure, but he was glad to still be there when he saw the state Nyx was in. Not strong like Gladio, he was able to carry Nyx on his back. Though exactly what he planned on doing to help Nyx through the pain was still unclear. He had never known someone to put on the ring like this. 

With Nyx nuzzling against his neck and the slight grown coming from him, Ignis held a little Nyx’s legs a little tighter. They had to find Noct, or perhaps Lady Lunafreya, though what she was doing in Insomnia was also a question Ignis would need to solve. But Nyx was his top priority at the moment. Surveying the damage of Insomnia and helping the local populous would just have to wait. 

 "Just a little longer,“ Ignis reassured Nyx. "I won’t leave you alone.”
