Welcome to YEAR 10 of our annual FFxiv 30 Day Writing Challenge!
With nearly 61,000 recorded entries since we began, we have a lot to celebrate for this milestone!

Whether you're new to the #FFxivWrite community or a 10-year writing challenge veteran, if you'd like to give perfectionism in your creative writing process a swift kick in the butt, then this challenge was designed for you!

Here’s The Gist:
Runs from September 1st - 30th, 2026. During that time frame:
Visit sea-wolf-coast-to-coast once a day at 9:00 am PDT for the prompt of the day. Convert to your timezone accordingly. All prompts will be one word or brief phrase that you can interpret however you please.
You have 24 hours to write something for that prompt.
Submit the link to your entry post via this Google Form: This link will be provided on September 1st at 9:00 am PDT.
There are no length or skill requirements (short & sweet is fine!).
There will be no 24-hour deadlines for the first week, September 1st - 7th. The deadline will go into effect on September 8th at 8:59 am PDT.
Makeup/extra credit days every Sunday.
Every entry posted within its 24-hour deadline will count toward a participation prize raffle at the end.
You can join any time with any prompt #! There’s no need for latecomers to start with prompt #1. Picking up with the most recent prompt is A OK.
If you’re an artist and you would like to volunteer to do a simple black & white illustration as a participation prize at the end of this challenge, you can volunteer here!

A New Rule: No AI-Writing
AI-writing, both fully generative writing from scratch, and AI-assisted editing, are strictly forbidden.
Spellcheck and punctuation tools are okay. Anything more than that violates this rule.
I am very good at spotting AI writing, including assists, and will automatically ban any AI generated/assisted entries from counting toward potential art prizes. Blatant violations may also result in a lifetime ban from prizes.
Just don't do it, my friends. I know this challenge can be mentally exhausting after so many days, but I would much prefer to see your raw, short, half-baked, unedited, cringey, tired-brained entries than anything that AI could write for you. This challenge is meant to help you improve your raw writing ability by challenging perfectionism in the process. Giving in to AI use does the opposite, neurologically.
That said, I also do not want to see an AI witch hunt sparked among the #FFxivWrite community. If someone chooses to break this rule, there's a good chance that I'll catch it. Trust me, trust my process, and put your energy into continuing to encourage your fellow writers instead. <3
A New Prompt Drop Time: 9:00 am PDT
After receiving some feedback from European participants, I ran a poll to see how folks feel about changing the prompt drop time from 12:00 pm PDT to 9:00 am PDT. You voted, and with +83% in favor of a change, how could I say no?
The 24-hour time limit for prize eligibility would still apply. So, as an example, for PDT folks, the 24-hour window would shift to 9:00 am 9/1 - 8:59 9/2 on prompt #1, and so on.

Hello fellow "macro cos i dont wanna be here" haver. Mines just a personal one for E... 1N (i think? Might be misremembering the tier)tho. I have a phobia of things getting swallowed by black holes so a friend wrote me a macro that counts out the length of the cutscene, so if I pop it right before, it then does an /e <se.6> when the cutscene ends so I can tab out during and tab back in in time. In return i wrote them a similar macro for ruby weapon. Bc. Uhm. Yeah.
That's honestly really clever!
Sadly my fears lie in the Calcabrina design. Antitower is pretty alright, I learned to play that boss "blind" (I just zoom in and stare at the floor), but with a horde of them in Strayborough that strategy don't work as well...
With SE having previously shown respect to phobias I have a hope that one day we can have a "blacklist" for duties, so people can mark off two or three duties they are uncomfortable with.

FAQ & Other Details:
Are NSFW commissions allowed?
Some mild nsfw is okay, however I will reserve the right to deny the commission request if I'm uncomfortable doing it. I also reserve the right to deny ANY commissions for those reasons. In such a case I ask that my decision be respected.
What are your TOS?
In terms of payment, I do not accept payment up front for commissions UNDER $50. If a commission price is over an agreed $50, I will request half payment up front and the rest upon completion. And if a commission is over an agreed price of $100, if you are not a trusted friend, I will request a half upfront payment, as well as a contract signature.
Are your prices negotiable?
No, after hearing the commission request, I will name my price based off of the guidelines of the above examples. I won't stray far from them typically unless I feel the need to.
HOWEVER I do occasionally do pay-what-you-want commissions once or twice a year, where you can name your price and I'll draw something befitting of such a price. I'll usually post when I'm doing those!
Do you have a return policy?
It highly depends on the situation. I don't do returns for commissions under $50. For commissions over $50, I will do a return of 50% of the total cost, only within 24 hours of the product being finished.
What's your process?
I work in a first-come-first-serve basis, and often keep open communication between us so that I may provide regular updates on any in-progress commissions.
How can I contact you?

How do I pay you for your work?
I accept payment through Ko-fi, or CashApp. The latter of which will be given in DMs only.
Do you accept tips?

Ideally use Shannon plush or other minky because of the way it stretches. Minky stretches side to side but not up/down. Felt/fleece has had mixed results.

The International Food Market I been waiting for all year is just about to start next week, along with the town festival. I love the life and music and joy whenever it happens! Not to mention food from all around the world!
Finally getting through repairing some of my favourite clothes that gotten damaged, I can wear them again yay!
After like a year, I have finally begun drawing again. Finding joy in my hobbies again feels great.
Playing old games have also brought me a lot of joy lately, old as in SNES and N64 games from my childhood that I'm replaying for fun.
My photo albums! I just find it way more enjoyable to flip through books with pictures and mementos than scroll through a file on the computer. Also much more fun to scrap book it together with moments of my life.

Putting my ffxiv character Zhai through the blender today. :)
Context: she goes from being pretty much the most powerful summoner in the land to being aetherically disabled after Stormblood, having taken some grievous wounds and resorted to some pretty forbidden magics to fight Shinryu. It takes years for her to regain connection to her magic.
As someone who put most of her self-worth on her skill, this does not feel great for her :) She spends much of her recovery time isolating and angry/depressed.
Flower's (unofficial) name day is July 1st! This will be the first one (Whoooo yaaay!) So I wanted to do something special, not only for me and him but for anyone who wants to talk about their wol/oc. When I asked about interest in this project people seemed excited!

this year for fanfest i embroidered the titania shadowbox! (yes the whole thing)
process and wip pics under the cut!
basic outline/pattern was drawn in procreate based off of ref pics in the game, and i did a rough color map to plan which sections were what color and where the transitions would be. i printed the outline onto water soluble stabilizer for a guide when embroidering. pieces were cut out and i did a simple running stitch to tack them onto the cloth. everything managed to fit in 3 8” hoops with some amount of tetrising.
interlude: shaping so much wire to match the wing outlines so they can somewhat stand freely
outline of the different sections was done with backstitch in the respective color and the wire was couched down (black thread in the middle is to mark the color transitions bc it was a little hard to see)
stabilizer was then washed away since i already had the outline down and i didn’t want to embroider through the paper. also no idea if i was doing it wrong or my stabilizer was old, but it didn’t wash away fully under the stitches so i had to spend a few hours removing shreds of paper with a pin and tweezers. fun times!
once everything is dry, whip stitch to cover the wire, and long and short stitch for everything else, 1 strand for the colors and 2 for the black. rinse and repeat for the rest of the wings
main body done, now cut everything out! wow that’s a lot of pieces..
+ the back, just for fun (the wire tails were kept long to put everything together.. we’ll come back to that)
the staff is made from felt. flower petals were made similar to the wings, with a wire slip outline so they could be shaped and curled like petals. buttonhole stitch this time to cover the wire, and whipped backstitch for the petal center. knots/thread tails at the petal base since they would be mostly covered. for the stem(?) part, it’s a triangular piece if felt rolled into a log, the free edge whip stitched in the back to hide the seam. the petals were attached to the inside at the top so when you roll it the wires are all hidden. i also some wire along the side for added sturdiness. sorry i don’t have a lot of pics of this i was too annoyed while making it lol
construction time! fabric over sturdy cardboard would be the background showing in the frame (no glass), and i punched a small hole in the cardboard somewhere around the middle to feed the wires through. the general plan: the center wing piece would form a hoop to slide the staff in, and all of the other wing wires would wrap around the hoop. the wire that made up the hoop would then feed through the hole in the cardboard and get sandwiched between the cardboard and the back of the frame so the whole thing can be supported. the result: this abomination
but! everything ended up fitting and the staff is removable so success! some finishing touches:
green glass bead at the center of the staff petals, held in place by wire
smaller beads at the center of the wing piece to mimic the in game model
wire inside a piece green yarn to wrap around the staff
and that’s it! as a thanks for making it through this whole thing, have a secret 4th pic that i submitted but wasn’t included in the ffxiv single image compilation lol
