Kelly had been in National City for a few months. During those few months her and Alex’s friendship grew a lot. Kelly’s friendship with all the super-friends blossomed but Alex’s especially.

Every Friday night Kelly was at game nights. The rest of the friends silently decided to pair Kelly and Alex together. Kara got a little bit jealous at how well they worked at every game together. Kara didn’t say anything when she noticed how happy her sister looked. There was something about the way her sister looked at Kelly that made Kara smile.

Kelly and Alex hung out a lot outside of the group. They got breakfast on weekends, went jogging when they weren’t so tired. Two nights a week they had dinner together either at each other’s place or at a new restaurant. They never ran out of things to talk about even though they texted durning the day and nights.

Kelly or Alex wouldn’t admit it to anyone but they had feelings for each other. Their feelings each grew from strangers, to friends. Then to this indescribable unspoken romantic feelings. It took a lot for them to not say anything. I guess in each of their own ways they were afraid the other didn’t feel the same.

Somethings Alex did Kelly fell more. Alex would watch the way Kelly just listened to anyone. The way she never seemed to complain. Always giving you her full and complete attention. There was something about that, that Alex admired. Their attraction for each other was always more than just a physical one. For both women they understood each other in an emotional, compassionate and spiritual way.

Kelly had decided to tell Alex how she felt. She thought Alex felt the same way. There was something about Alex that always made Kelly feel nervous. Not in a bad way but in like a school girl with a crush way. Kelly was going to see if Alex wanted together Friday afternoon.

Kelly dialed Alex’s number and got so nervous. Alex answered on the third ring answering excitedly. “Hi Kelly. How are you?” Kelly smiles before answering. “I am good. And you?” “Good can’t wait to beat everyone tonight.” Alex smiled. “Yes me to. I was actually calling to see if you were busy this afternoon. I wasn’t sure if you wanted to meet up in the park for like a late lunch? If your busy thats fine.” Kelly rushed out mentally yelling at herself.

Alex answered quickly. “I would love to, it’s a slow day at work. I can meet you there in like an hour.” Kelly smiled “Perfect I’ll meet you by the fountain in the center.” “Great I’ll see you then bye.” Once they both hang up smiling and letting out a heavy sigh.

Kelly gets a picnic basket ready. With Alex’s favorite sandwiches some snacks, water. She didn’t mean to make it seem romantic but it ends up being exactly that. Kelly chose to walk to the park it was a nice day and gave her time to think. She really likes Alex but is also worried what will happen to their friendship if it’s one sided. Getting to the fountain she sets the basket on the ground and waits for Alex. She isn’t waiting long before she hears her name being called.

Turning to the person who just called her name she smiles and is pulled into a hug. “So I figured we could have a picnic before we beat everyone tonight.” Kelly holds up the basket showing Alex. “I would never say no to a picnic. Let’s go” They walk to an empty grassy area and set the blanket out. Kelly pulls out the food and sets it between her and Alex.

Alex chuckles picking up one of the sandwich’s. “Hey my favorite you remembered thank you.” She winks at Kelly while taking a bite of it. “No problem. I figured sandwiches were just the right thing for a picnic.” Kelly takes a bit out of her own. “They definitely are. You know it’s been years since I’ve had a picnic. I almost forgot how calm and simple it is.” Alex looks at Kelly smiling.

They sit there looking at the ducks and people playing in the park when Kelly decided to tell Alex.”Hey Alex.” Alex can sense hesitation in her voice she nods giving Kelly all her attention. “I want to tell you something and I hope this doesn’t make anything weird between us. But these last few months getting to know you have been the best. We grew into fast friends and I love that. You helped me adjust to a new city under crazy conditions.” Kelly finally looked up to see Alex smiling.

“Hanging out with you has made me fell things that I haven’t felt in a long time. Conversations with you are honestly the highlights of my days. There is something about you that makes me nervous but like in a good way.” She huffs hating that she’s rambling.

“I guess what I am trying to say is that I like you. I like spending my free time with you I just really-“ Kelly’s sentence is cut off when Alex leans over the food and kisses her. Their first kiss is like no kiss they have had before. The kiss ends naturally and to soon if they were being honest. “I really like you to. Like a lot. I feel the same way you do if not more so.” Alex leans back smiling at Kelly who is also smiling.

Kelly and Alex were finally far enough along in their pregnancy to tell everyone. The were 12 weeks and couldn’t wait any longer. Both their dreams were coming true.

There were two people who they wanted to tell right away Kara and James. Kara has always been Alex’s person. They have gone through so much together. It killed Alex to not tell Kara that they were trying again. But she didn’t want Kara to have to go through the heartbreak if it didn’t work out again.

Kelly and James’ relationship had grown since she moved to National City. Kelly was great full that she had her brother back, that she had a family. Coming to National City after getting a call her brother was shot. She never would of thought that she would meet the love of her life.

Alex and Kelly were trying to figure out a cute way to tell their siblings. They were on cloud nine. They had asked Kara and James to come over. They tried not be suspicious but it didn’t work out. James was asking Kelly all these question worrying. Kara wanted to go over right away to make sure they were good because it was weird for a last minute get together.

The expectant mother’s found out a cute way to announce the pregnancy. They got two baby onesies and two T-shirts. One baby onesie and T-shirt were for Kara the other for James.

The baby’s onesie to Kara read “To most she’s Supergirl but to me she’s Auntie.” Kara’s shirt read “New job tittle Auntie ~2020~”

The onesie to James said “You call him guardian I call him uncle.” While his shirt read “New job title Uncle ~2020~”

It was an idea that Kelly had seen online a while back. They wanted to make sure they included their siblings whole selfs. Alex placed a sonogram in each box, she wrapped each box them placed them on the table in their living room.

They made sure to get all the favorite foods. Pot stickers, dumplings, macaroni, and cinnamon cakes. Alex and Kelly weren’t nervous they were more excited. Before they knew it there was a knock on the door signaling that someone was there.

Surprisingly James and Kara showed up together both. Once they walked in they both went up to their siblings hugging them tight. “Ooff, what is all this about” Alex asked while in Karas tight grip looking over to Kelly. Kelly steps out of the hug looking at James. “Yea what’s with the hugs.” She finished that question just as Kara hugged her.

“Well when your sister calls you out of the blue asking you to come over. It’s out of character for a last minute dinner night.” Kara adds while James nods agreeing.”Yea exactly so what else do you expect us to do. So I called Kara and she said the same thing. We left work early nervous because neither one of you would tell us anything.” James and Kara stood there looking at the siblings.

Alex and Kelly could only laugh at the looks on their faces. “We didn’t mean for you to get nervous. What we need to tell you is nothing bad.” Alex pushes the two to sit on the couch next to each other. Kelly hands them each a box. “Here open them. This will explain why we called last minute.”

The siblings look to each other confusingly then over to their sisters. They cautiously open the box and both gasp. Holding the shirts up to read it’s quiet for a minute before Kara squeals excitedly. Her and James hug talking over each other loudly. Alex clears her throat which causes them to focus. Both jump up pulling the mommas into a group hug.

Kara turns to Kelly “That’s why you’ve had that glow isn’t it?” “What are you talking about glow?” Kelly chuckled. “These past few weeks you and Alex. You’re glowing. I didn’t even think that you might be having a baby.” Kara hugs Alex again whispering in her ear.” You’re having a baby Alex.” “I have to agree with Kara you have this glow. A brightness about you. It fits both of you. “James adds hugging his sister.

Kelly woke up to earlier than normal not feeling good. She went to bed with a sore throat and a headache. Hoping the medicine she took last night would of helped but unfortunately it didn’t. She hated when she got sick she always felt drained and loopy. She was also told she became very needy which she didn’t want to believe.

While walking into the bathroom to get medicine she had a coughing fit. After finding a bottle of medicine that covered all her new symptoms. She took the disgusting medicine and her temperature she definitely had a fever. She groaned pulling her phone out of her bathrobe sending Andrea a text saying she would be out sick. Looking at herself in the mirror she sighed. She looked like she felt crappy.

She was tired and cold. All she wanted was a cup of tea with honey and to crawl back in bed to sleep. She really wanted to cuddle up with Alex but she didn’t want Alex to catch whatever she had. Kelly walked out to the light in the kitchen on and her girlfriend looking at her. It’s like Alex read Kelly’s mind she was making her a cup of tea.

“I didn’t mean to wake you up I’m sorry.” Kelly croaked out starting to cough again. Alex looked at her with a sad smile. “Don’t apologize. I felt you get up then heard you coughing. So I wanted to make sure you were ok. I saw you go in the bathroom for medicine so I made you the next best thing. Here’s a hot cup of tea with honey.” Alex hands the mug to Kelly.

Kelly stood there taking a sip of the tea. She instantly felt a little relief on her throat. Kelly take another sip closing her eyes. She forces out a raspy “Thank you.” Alex walks over to feel her forehead. “You are hot. Did you take anything for a fever to?” Kelly looks up at her with a dopey smile. “Thank you I know I’m hot.” Alex leans down to kiss the top of Kelly’s head. “I meant fever wise but yes you are.”

Kelly jumps up “Alex don’t kiss me I don’t want you getting sick to.” Alex just laughs cause her girlfriend is the cutest when she’s sick. “It’s fine you won’t get me sick. Let’s go lay you down in bed. I’ll call J’onn and tell him I’m staying home sick with you.” Kelly tries stopping but Alex is still leading her to bed. She put the tea on the table then practically falls on the bed.

“You’re not going to call J’onn.” She try’s to sound serious but she has a coughing fit. Once calmed down “I’ll be fine I don’t want you missing a day of work. I will probably just be sleeping all day anyways.” She coughs again as Alex lays her down covering her up. Alex runs her hands through Kelly’s hair. “Are you sure? It’s one day I know they will be ok. I want to stay with you just incase.” Kelly is practically asleep.

Mumbling in her sleep. “See I’m very sleepy already I’ll be ok. I love you babe have a good day.” Kelly starting snoring quietly. Alex just watched her for a while. Doesn’t matter what Kelly said Alex was staying home. She noticed the time seeing it was only 30 mins before they normally get up. Alex picks up her phone sending a text to Andrea not knowing Kelly did already.

She was in the kitchen getting herself a cup of coffee when Kelly sat up coughing. She spoke out “I’m fine I’m fine don’t worry.” Alex just chuckled because Kelly went right back to sleep. “Hey J’onn I won’t be in today. Kelly is sick and loopy so I’m going to stay with her for the day.” J’onn was more than understanding he wished both of them well. Offering his help if they needed anything.

Alex finished up her coffee. Checked on Kelly before she jumped in the shower. Once she was dressed and ready she wrote out a list of things that would hopefully make Kelly a little bit more comfortable. With one final check on Kelly she kissed her forehead. Alex noted her fever seemed to break. She whispered “I’ll be back call me if you need anything I love you.” Kelly turned around nodding her head.

Alex had gotten all of her errands done in less than an hour. She’s walking into their building when she feels her phone vibrating in her back pocket. She looks at it seeing Kelly’s face she picks it up smiling. “Hi babe how you feeling?” Alex smiles waiting for the elevator. “I’m feeling fine.” She starts coughing “Fine I’m lying I feel horrible. I hate asking this but are you close by home to come back with some soup. I just got up and I can’t find any.” Kelly slumps on the couch when she hears the door open.

In walks Alex with her hands full of bags. She knows she surprised Kelly when her girlfriend jumped up. “When I was having my coffee I noticed we didn’t have a lot of stuff. So I called out of work went to the store I got you a bunch of stuff.” Alex looks over to Kelly who looks like she is going to cry. Alex opens a can of chicken noodle soup puts it in a pan on the stove.

“You didn’t want me to call out of work but I wasn’t going to leave you. I got you some ginger ale, cough drops and some popsicles. Along with some chicken broth and crackers.” Alex is walking over towards Kelly when she’s engulfed in a hug. Kelly pulls back and turns when she gets the urge to cough. Alex is right there with a nice cold cups of ginger ale. “Here sit here on the couch. I’m going to change then get you your soup. Then we can sit and catch up on our shows together.” Alex said covering Kelly up.

Kelly watches Alex change into joggers then make her way over to spoon Kelly’s soup. Kelly extended her arms out accepting the soup. Alex sits next to her making sure it isn’t to hot. Kelly eats some of the soup before she gets full. Add loss of appetite to her list of symptoms.Kelly lays her head back looking over to Alex. “I know I didn’t want you to call out. But I am glad you did. I’m also glad you came back with groceries because we didn’t have much for someone who’s sick.”

What if the adoption had been successful for Alex? Would that of changed Alex’s feelings for Kelly. Would Kelly still admit her feelings for Alex?

Alex and Kelly were sitting in the hotel room talking. Just waiting for the call that the baby had been born. Alex was extremely great-full that someone was with her. The fact that it was someone who she was growing to have feelings for was an extra bonus.

She had to admit she was still completely terrified but there was this calming energy Kelly gave off. Alex was still on the bed while Kelly got up to use the bathroom. While she was walking away Alex couldn’t take her eyes off Kelly.

Kelly comes out of the bathroom looks over at Alex smiling. She grabs another candy bar on her way back over to Alex.

“I’m going to take the first pieces so you don’t eat all of it.” Kelly gives Alex a smirk breaking off a chunk handing the rest over to Alex. “Thank you” Alex takes a bite out.

Kelly looks at Alex with a curios look. “Can I ask you a question?” Alex nods her head. “Do you really think your baby will fling off your couch and into an outlet?” Kelly has a hard time finishing the question cause she is laughing. Alex falls back on the bed hysterically laughing. It takes both women a few minutes to compose themselves.

Alex sits up wiping the tears from her cheeks from laughing. “That was an absurd question to ask wasn’t it?” She chuckles. “I guess I was spiraling and was just spewing out any random thought.” Kelly nods having gotten her laughter under control. “I totally get that I just haven’t been able to get your face out of my head when you asked that.” Alex throw a pillow at Kelly. They start laughing again.

They calm down and a comfortable silence fell upon them.It was Alex’s turn to ask Kelly something. “Can I ask you a question? If you don’t want to answer you don’t have to. No pressure.” Kelly nods giving Alex her full attention. “Do you think you would ever want to have kids?” Alex doesn’t know why she asked or where she got the courage to.

Kelly smiles she would be lying to herself if she said she didn’t have feelings for Alex. Intense romantic ones that Kelly was going to tell Alex the next time they hung out. But once Alex told her about the baby Kelly was going to hold off. She didn’t want Alex to worry about anything else other than the baby.

Alex had a feeling that Kelly was gay but wasn’t a hundred percent. Maybe with this question Kelly would answer the unasked question. She knew she was fulfilling her dream of becoming a mother but she couldn’t help to think maybe this would be it for her.

Kelly gives Alex a shy smile. “Yes I do. I hope to at least. Years ago my fiancé and I were talking about starting IVF but um.” Kelly paused “She was sent out for a deployment and she died while over seas. At the time I wasn’t strong enough to go through with it by myself.” Alex reached over placing her hand on Kelly’s knee. Kelly puts a hand on Alex’s acknowledging her.

“Before I came to National City I was thinking more and more about it. When I got the call about James he came first. Being here with him getting to know his life here. Helping him after everything he went through. As bad or strange as it sounds I’m kind of glad that he got hurt. That I came here and felt welcomed immediately by you,Kara and all his friends.” Kelly clears her throat.

“Anyways getting back to answering your question. Yes I do want kids. I want everything the house, wife, kids, and family. When the time is right. I’m happy where my life has brought me to. Right up to this day. It’s nice to be around people I’ve gotten close to and consider friends. Also getting to have a relationship with my brother again isn’t to bad.” Kelly smiles hoping that Alex kind of got the subtle hint.

Alex got the hint but didn’t go to much into. “Thank you for sharing that with me about your ex fiancé. I’m sorry you had to go through that. Also glad James got injured in a way. Weather James is here or not just always know you’ve got me and our friends here.” Alex was about to continue when her phone rings. Kelly and Alex look at each other with wide eyes. She jumps up answering the phone, it’s the hospital telling her the baby was born and she could head to the hospital.

Alex hangs up the phone. Looks at Kelly like she did when she got the call back at home. “So the baby was born they said that I could head to the hospital. I suddenly got even more nervous and emotional.” Alex walks over to the baby bag she and Kelly had picked up on the way there. Kelly could see Alex was freaking out she walked over and placed her hands on Alex’s shoulder.

“You will be great. You are going to be terrific loving and caring mother just like you are a friend. You’re baby is going to be the most loved kid in the universe. Plus you don’t have to worry she won’t be flying into outlets yet.” Kelly’s plan worked Alex relaxes laughing.

“You’re funny very funny. I have another question. Would you mind coming with me to the hospital?” Alex asks “I would love to. Let’s go meet your daughter.” Kelly grabs the bag from Alex they leave the place together heading to the hospital. They arrive at the hospital quicker than Alex expected.

She’s frozen outside of the car. She wishes Kara was here with her but she’s glad she has Kelly. Without a second thought Kelly pulls Alex into a tight hug. Alex immediately melts into the hug. Every emotion seemingly dissipated.” Thank you I guess I didn’t realize how tense I got.” Alex said after they pulled out of the hug. “Anytime.” Kelly said as they walked into the hospital.

Kelly sat in the waiting room as Alex was introduced to her daughter. She didn’t care how long she waited the look on Alex’s face when she came out was worth every minute. Kelly stood up and was pulled into another hug. Alex had tears in her eyes. “She is absolutely perfect she has dark hair and brown eyes. She is beautifully perfect. The nurses just took her for a test. Do you want to come back to meet her?” Alex had hoped it wouldn’t be to much. “Yes let’s go.” Kelly grabbed the bag and followed Alex.

Once the nurse came in she noticed Kelly and smiled. She placed the baby in the hospitals bassinet. They nurse leaves the two women and new baby alone. Kelly walks over to see the sleeping baby swaddled in a blanket with the pink hat she picked out earlier. Kelly instantly melted when she saw the baby’s face. Chubby cheeks lips stuck out looking precious.

Kelly and Alex have been married for a little over a year. They didn’t want to wait to start a family. After one failed round of IVF they were ready to try again. After the first failed round both women were heartbroken.

Their second round was successful. Kelly was carrying their babygirl. She was 7 months along and she felt very pregnant. Thankfully her morning sickness went away. That was the only downfall of her pregnancy. At this stage in her pregnancy she was having cravings.

Her craving went from normal ones like ice cream to questionable ones like pickles or salty snacks dipped in honey. Lately all she craved was edible cookie dough and whip cream. Alex had been a saint running out to get Kelly whatever she needed or wanted. She’d never complain even when she got woken up at 2am because Kelly wanted a frosty with french fries.

Kelly had a roughy day at work. She had a headache all day that just wouldn’t go away. She just felt uncomfortable and she was emotional. Kelly was just leaving the office when her phone rings. She looks at her phone smiling as she sees looks down seeing Alex’s face.

“Hey babe how are my two girls doing?” Alex asks smiling through the phone.

Kelly laughs Alex has been saying her girls since they found out they were having a girl. Kelly’s emotional state made her tear up at just hearing her voice. She clears her throat so hopefully Alex doesn’t hear her getting emotional.

“Babygirl is good.” Kelly answers not wanting Alex to worry.

“Well that’s good and how is mommy doing.” Alex knows something is up with Kelly.

She loves that Alex knows the tone in her voice when something is wrong. But at this time she wishes Alex would just let it be. Kelly didn’t want to cry for no reason. She huffs knowing she won’t be able to get away without answering.

“I am ok, I haven’t felt the best today. I have a migraine our baby seems to be doing the cha cha slide all day.” Kelly

doesn’t finish because she starts to cry.

“Hey babe listen to me ok?” Alex hates that she isn’t with Kelly. She’s gotten used to Kelly’s mood changes all due to pregnancy hormones. She waits for Kelly to acknowledge her. “Mhmm” is what she gets.

“I love you. I am so sorry you feel crappy and that I’m not with you. Do you want me to come pick you up at work? I’ll leave here early?” Alex feels guilty.

“No don’t leave work early. I am already in my car and I’ll be home quickly. I’ll be okay we’ll just be at home waiting for you to get there.” Kelly smiles pulling her car out of the spot. She just wanted to get home change into comfortable clothes and eat.

“Okay I will be home as soon as I can. I love you and i’ll see you both soon.” Alex hangs up. Kelly is thankfully home quick. As soon as she changes out of her work clothes and into some of Alex’s pajamas she relaxes. She was hungry and craving edible cookie dough. She got her spoon and container of cookie dough and wobbled over to the couch waiting for Alex to walk in.

Alex should be home any minute so Kelly didn’t bother looking for anything good to watch. Once she found something she could bear to have as background noise she went to eat the cookie dough and noticed there was only about a spoonful left. She sat there couldn’t believe that Alex had eaten her stuff.

Alex just waked in the house. She looked at her wife who was looking at her with a frown. Alex slipped off her boots walking to sit next to her wife on the couch. That’s when she noticed the empty container. Alex now knew the reason for the look on Kelly’s face.

“Hii babe.” Alex says wearily dragging the babe part. She leans in giving Kelly a kiss. Kelly is looking at her sternly but Alex can’t help but smile at how cute her wife looks.

“Don’t hi babe me. You ate the rest of my cookie dough and left a spoonful. Really babe. How is that okay? That’s not ok.” Kelly is being dramatic but can’t help the smile that over takes her face. She knows she’s being dramatic but she blames the hormones.

Alex is smiling at how her girlfriend can’t fake being mad at her. “I’m sorry I didn’t realize that’s all I left. I was eating it in the dark at like 2am so I had no clue. I’m sorry.” Alex places a kiss on Kelly’s very noticeable stomach and whispers. “I’m sorry I ate all your cookie dough.” She sits up when she hears Kelly start to laugh loudly.

“I thought there was enough for your cravings at least for tonight. I can go out and get you some. Seeming where I finished it?” Alex asked sincerely. Kelly nodded her head negatively. “No I want you to stay here with us. Plus our cookie dough should be here any minute.” Kelly smiles at Alex’s very confused face. Just as Alex was going to ask what Kelly is talking about. Kara knocks on the door coming in with bags of cookie dough.

“Yayy.”Kelly struggles to stand up but stays sitting when Kara brings her over a full container. “You called Kara?”Alex questioned. “Well I didn’t call her.She texted me asking how me and the baby were feeling. I told her how my lovely wife ate all of my cookie dough even thought that’s my cravings this week. So my very sweet kind sister-in-law offered to “fly” and get her niece food.”

Kelly answers with a smile as she eats a big spoonful of heaven. “Hey in my defense I know what it’s like when you eat my favorite food.I couldn’t let Kelly and the baby suffer that already.” Kara smiles sitting next to Kelly with a spoon. Kelly holds the container out to Kara for her to scoop some. “Kara can have some but I can’t.That’s not fair.”Its now Alex’s turn to pout when Kelly shakes her head. Alex is about to say something when Kelly feeds her some.

“I was only kidding. Now both of my babies are eating their cookie dough.” Kelly and Kara both bust out laughing. “No seriously Kara thank you for bringing us some. I haven’t had the best day today but knowing I have all that cookie dough makes it a tiny bit better.” Kelly lays back. “No problem anything for you guys. I’ll get going I hope you feel better. Text me if you need anything. From anywhere.” Kara gets up with a wink leaving.

Alex and Kelly were taking a major step forward in their relationship. They were moving in together. J’onn was thinking of selling his house. He stayed at the tower so when he heard Alex talking to Kelly about going to look at a place he knew he would give it to them.

It was going to be a big change. Alex and Kelly had always lived in studio apartments alone. So now packing up their places was really hitting them. Kelly pretty much stayed at Alex’s house most nights. So they had packed Alex’s place first then went to Kelly’s.

For living in the same city they seemed to live on the opposite ends of each other. Their new place was in the middle of both of their jobs which was a bonus. Kelly didn’t have as much stuff as Alex did so it shouldn’t take them long to pack up. Once they get into Kelly’s place Alex goes and starts packing the kitchen while Kelly goes to clean out the closet.

As Kelly is looking through the boxes she comes across a box from her past that stops her in her tracks. In the box it had her ex-fiancés dog tags and a bear that was made out of her dads old shirts. Along with a picture of Kelly, and her dad from when she was younger. Kelly hasn’t looked in this box for a while.

She was paralyzed sitting there on her floor holding the bear and dog tags. She didn’t answer when Alex called her name multiple times. It wasn’t until she felt Alex’s hand on her shoulder that she snapped out of her daze. She looked up at Alex not realizing that she was crying.

“Kelly what’s wrong? Alex asked her face full of concern. She tucked Kelly’s hair behind her ear hoping Kelly would look at her. Kelly just looked at Alex shaking her head standing up as if she was trying to erase the visions she just had. She left the bear and necklace on the floor.

“Nothing ,nothings wrong I’m fine.” Kelly stammered turning and walking alway from Alex wiping her cheeks. She doesn’t get far before her girlfriend stops her. She places her hand under Kelly’s chin lifting her face then places her hands on Kelly’s face wiping her tears. “Babe I know something just happened. I just want you to know I’m here.” Kelly closes her eyes and melted into Alex’s touch.

They stand there for a minute in the same position Alex continues to wipe the steady stream of tears. She didn’t say anything she didn’t want to pressure Kelly even thought she was seriously freaking out. Kelly has her eyes closed trying to find the courage to tell Alex.

She takes Alex’s hand and walks over to her bed. As she sits there looking over at the two items that caused all of this.She has this surge of strength getting up grabbing them off the floor. Walking back over to the bed she can’t bring herself to look up at Alex. Sitting there she feels Alex looking at her.

Kelly takes a deep breath looking down at her hands. “The bear is made out of my dad’s favorite shirts. My mom had it made for me after he died. I always kept it with me. When I went over seas I just kept it in a box at my moms.” Kelly looks up at Alex with a small smile.

Kelly looks back down as she plays with the chain wrapping it around her fingers. “These are my ex-fiancées dog tags. So when I came home after my final deployment these along with her letter were at my place. At first I didn’t take them off they were always around my neck. But eventually I stopped wearing them.” Kelly unraveled the chain placing the tags and bear behind her.

“When I stopped wearing them I felt guilty. Guilty that I was starting to feel some sense of normalcy without her. So I put them in the box with my dads bear. When I moved here I just took my boxes out of my moms. I didn’t look through them I just wanted all of my stuff out of her way you know?”Kelly looked at Alex who nodded her head.

Kelly let out a long sigh. “So when I opened that box and saw that stuff. I froze every feeing and emotion that I felt back then I felt in that moment. So when you snapped me out of whatever trance I was in I saw you and the look in your eyes I couldn’t. I couldn’t help but think in some way it was a sign from both of them. Like of all the opportunities and chances I’ve had when I first moved in. When I did my spring cleaning I’ve never had the urge to open this.”

Kelly moved her body so she could look at Alex better. “Today of all days. The day we move in together I find these.Like what are the odds.” “You said you feel like it’s a sign from them?” Alex was tentative to ask but she did anyways. Kelly nods “Yea in some weird way I guess I do or I hope. Like it’s a way to say that what I’m doing, what we are doing is the right thing.” Kelly smiles.

“A sign from them saying this is where I am meant to be. That I’m meant to be with this person who I am so in love with. Taking this step of moving in together and planning our future. That they know what’s going on.” Alex leans over kissing Kelly’s forehead. “I think that it’s exactly that. Just always remember that no matter what I will be here, always. I love you so much.” “I love you to.” Kelly gives her a kiss.

Kelly gets up to stand in front of Alex getting ready to finish packing. Alex stays on the bed looking at Kelly. Kelly looks back asking Alex. “You good?” “Yea come on.” Alex smiles standing up grabs a hold of Kelly’s hand and walks over to the couch. Alex sits down and pulls Kelly to lay on top of her. “Alex what are you-“ Kelly’s question is cut off by Alex hissing her. “Lets lay here a minute the boxes can wait. Let’s just be still together.” Kelly just nods closes her eyes laying her head on Alex’s chest listening to her heart beat.

Alex and Kelly have been together for a while. They talked about their future together, both wanting to get married and have kids.

This weekend Kelly was going to propose to Alex. They had this trip planned for a while. A trip just the two of them out of the city. Neither one having to worry or stress about work.

The penthouse they rented was on the beach with a perfect view. Kelly had recently found out a little bit of a secret ofAlex from Kara. Alex loved sunsets and sunrises. Kara told Kelly how when they were younger Alex said.

“Watching a sunset or sunrise with the right person would be the perfect beginning or ending to a day.” After that conversation Kelly knew that’s how she was going to propose to the love of her life.

The couple had finally settled into the penthouse both exhausted from their hectic week. They decided their first night they would just stay in ,go for a swim and get to bed early.

They laid on the couch to watch a movie and that’s when Kelly had a thought. Thankfully Alex had fallen asleep first so Kelly texted Kara to bounce ideas off of. To say Kara was excited was an understatement.

Kelly was thankful that Kara was willing to help out. There was no way she would of been able to get everything together in under 24hrs. Especially with their adventure tomorrow. Once Kelly had finished texting Kara she just looked at the women who feel asleep laying her head on her lap. She could not help the smile that instantly took over her face.

The next morning they both enjoyed not having to wake up early for work. Alex spoke her voice raspy from just waking up. “I could get used to this. Waking up with you here. No reason to rush around, no stress or work.Just you me and that beautiful view.” Alex kisses the top of Kelly’s head.

Kelly looks up “Ditto.” is all she says with a big smirk. Silently freaking out because this is the day this women will hopefully become her fiancé. Alex just smiles back at Kelly’s response. Ever since their first kiss that word has been their little thing.

Their day was filled with new adventures. First thing was a private surfing lesson. Kelly picked it up quicker while Alex had a harder time. Kelly sat there watching Alex try and stand up time and time again. Kelly melted when she saw Alex’s face once she finally stood on the board and caught a wave.

That feeling was amplified when Alex paddled over to her so excited she accidentally knocked Kelly off the board. Neither could stop laughing until Kelly pulled Alex in to a kiss. Once they pulled apart Alex said.

“That’s what I swam over here to do. I didn’t want to knock you off I just wanted a kiss!” Both women laughed. After thanking their instructor they headed back to their place to clean up before going out to sightsee.

While Alex was showering Kelly was able to call Kara to finalize the last details. The perks of having Kara help is that she’s probably the only person who knows Alex the best. She can help put together all of Kelly’s ideas.Kelly trusted Kara and knew this evening would be extremely memorable.

Kelly was sitting there thinking about how she got a second chance at love when Alex walked out. She couldn’t take her eyes off of Alex. Alex walked over to Kelly which made her refocus. “Hi there. You ready to go.” Alex smirked while holding her hand out to Kelly.

It took Kelly a minute to form a sentence. “Umm yea. I- I am.” It took a minute for her to get her thoughts back on track. She looked at Alex who was shyly standing there with a smile. “Sorry you just look...Wow.” She leans in giving her a kiss.

When the kiss ends Alex’s leans away with a sly smirk. Leans back slightly gives Kelly a little peck and whispers “Ditto.” Alex turns and walks away satisfied at a stunned Kelly. Alex walks over to leave the bedroom when she calls over her shoulder laughing. “Come on we don’t want to be late.”

Durning dinner Kelly is a ball of emotions. She’s trying to focus on dinner but her mind is going ahead to tonight. Wondering if Kara is setting it all up, how it looks. Alex notices Kelly seems a little worried. She didn’t want to ask but she does.

“Babe you okay? You seem anxious.” Alex reaches over and holds Kelly’s hand. She instantly feels her relax. Kelly melts yes she tries to hide her feeling but her love always knows. It’s not a lie when Kelly says she’s fine. She’s fine but also very anxious.

Their dinner goes smoothly and the food was delicious. While Alex goes to freshen up in the bathroom Kelly uses this opportunity to call Kara one final

time. Their call is short she’s reassured everything is perfect and there is also something special for her.Kelly checked her phone and sunset was in about 45 minutes. Giving her the perfect amount of time to walk back to the penthouse and propose as the sunsets.

On their walk back it is a comfortable silence. While Kelly is freaking out Alex is oblivious to what is going to happen in the next half hour. Once they are off the elevator and heading to their door Kelly abruptly stops startling Alex.

“So I have something special set up inside. Before we go in can you put this on.” Kelly carefully pulls an eye mask out from her clutch holding it out. Alex is confused but slowly takes the mask. Kelly laughs “It’s okay nothing is going to jump out or scare you. Trust me?” Kelly hold her hand palm side up. “Always.” Alex puts the mask on and takes Kelly’s hand.

Kelly opens the door and the place is dark except from the lights on the balcony. Kelly slips out of her shoes instructing Alex to do the same. As quietly as she can she opens the draw that’s near the door that has the box with the ring.

Walking to the balcony Kelly gasps. This is better than she could ever dream of. The floor leading outside was covered with rose petals. String light hung all around hanging from the ceiling. Candle were lit on the little tables and a heart shaped on the floor. There was a note for Kelly from Kara that read.

“Say the words earth, wind, and fire kinda loudly after you get engaged.It’s part of my gift to you both.” Kelly was a little bit confused but smiled. She hoped she knew because there was one thing she forgot to set up. Photos to be taken of tonight. She would always remember but she wanted to be able to physically be able to look back.

Kelly carefully walked her and Alex into the candle lit heart shape on the floor. “Okay we stopped so can I take off the eye mask now? Alex asked Kelly knew how impatient she could get. Kelly laughed “Yes but please please keep your eyes closed when you do Ok?” Kelly asked. Alex nodded Kelly looked over to her right and the sun was even with the horizon.

Kelly took a deep breath and told Alex to open her eyes. Alex gasped loudly looking directly at Kelly. After a few second she looked to her left and saw the sunset then turned directly back to Kelly with so much love. Kelly placed the ring box right next to her so she could hold Alex’s hands.

“When we first met we both were at a crossroad in our life’s. As the days went on we developed a friendship. You were there for me at a time nobody else could even understand. Our respect and understanding of each other was like nothing I’ve ever seen. Especially for two people who met only weeks ago.” Kelly just smiled and wiped a tear that fell onto Alex’s cheek.

“When you said that you and I were alike in the way we care more about others than ourselves. That was the moment my brain caught up with my heart in that I really freaking like-like you.” They both laughed thinking about how Alex had said that to Kelly early in their relationship.

“You trusted me enough to go on that trip with you. You trusted me enough to be there for and to support you. On one of your toughest days when you could of shut me out you didn’t. The strength you exuded in that emotional time was awe inspiring. I was moved by your resilience.” Kelly looked down at their hands and squeezed them before continuing.

“That night while we were walking to J’onn’s place I was so nervous. I felt a shift in our friendship. I was afraid my feelings were one sided but I kept them in long enough. Boy am I so glad that I finally told you. When we first kissed it solidified my thoughts of I knew you were my last first kiss. From that moment on I’ve been yours. I wanna be with you today tomorrow and forever.”

“I want to do everything with you. The wedding, the house, the animals. I want to watch our kids grow up. I want to watch their school performances together while we cry. I want to see them get a black belt in karate.” Kelly reaches down and picks up the box.

“So right here right now. In front of the beautiful view of the sunset. I want to ask my beautiful girlfriend to be my wife.” Kelly gets down on one knee opens the box and asks “ Alexandra Danvers will you continue to make me the happiest person in this universe and Marry Me?” Alex is crying she can’t get any words out so she just nods her head yes furiously. She pulls Kelly up holds her face and she kisses her.

Every emotion Alex was feeling that she couldn’t verbally express she was trying to convey into the kiss. She pulls back. “Yes-yes I will marry you.” Kelly places the ring on Alex’s finger gives her hand a kiss then gives her fiancé another kiss. They stand there for a few minutes either wiping each other’s tears or giving each other a kiss before Kelly speaks up she’s just holding Alex from behind looking out at the sun finally about to disappear.

“We’re you surprised? Kelly tilts her head to see Alex looking out ahead.

At first Alex just nods. Then asks. “How did you know? Or did you not know? That this that just happened being proposed to during a sunset was like an unspoken dream.” Alex turned around in Kelly’s arms smiling.

“I didn’t know at first that this was something you had dreamt of. I didn’t even know how much you really loved sunsets and sunrises. Until I had a talk with someone who knows and loves you very much.” Kelly and Alex both smile. Alex knowing instantly it was her sister.

“At game night like a few weeks back Kara and I were talking about the view from up high.”Alex smiled and nodded knowing exactly what she meant. “She told me what you said when you were younger about how sunsets and sunrises with the right person would be the perfect beginning or ending of a day. So when I realized we had a view of the ocean this was the week I would propose.” Kelly moved a piece of hair back behind Alex’s ear.

“I love you so much. Sometimes it hurts with how much love I have for you. I don’t fully have enough words to process everything but I do know that I can’t wait to end every night with you and start every morning with you.” Alex is genuinely baffled.

“How did you manage to do all of this. It wasn’t like this when we left for dinner. You and I have been together all night?” Alex asked.

“Well there is only one person that I could trust to make this special for you. Even if I wasn’t here to help set up. This one person also happens to have superpowers, which was a life savor.” Kelly smiles at Alex’s reaction knowing her sister helped and knew.

“Kara, she helped you set this up?” Alex more stated it than asked. Kelly only nodded.

“She also left me this note.” Kelly hands it to Alex. “I’m afraid to say the words who knows what kind of gift she would give.” Alex said knowing her sister anything could happen. The newly engaged couple say the words. They wait a few before there is a knock at the main door and Kara comes in.

Kara meets the couple at the balcony door she is crying which makes Alex cry. Alex goes over to Kara and gives her a tight and long hug. Kara looks over Alex’s shoulder smiling at Kelly . Kelly whispers knowing Kara could hear “Thank you so much for all of this.” Kara let’s go of Alex and does a little dance going to give Kelly a hug.

Once they end the hug Kara fills the couple in on her gift. “So there was one thing we didn’t talk about when we were setting this up. I wanted to be able to capture that moment for you. So I had set up a camera over there. It snapped a photo every 5 seconds. That way you would have pictures to always look back on.” Kara is engulfed in a hug by Kelly.

“Oh thank god. It dawned on me when I was reading the note you left that it was the one thing I forgot.Thank you.” Kelly laughed extremely relieved. ”No problem. I am so happy for you both. I love you both so much. I am grateful that you included me in helping you surprise my sister.” Kara spoke softly. “I will let you two enjoy the rest of your weekend away. I’ll see you both when you get back to the city.” Kara gives one last hug to the couple.

Kelly and Alex stand there just talking in the night sky. Both just embracing everything that happened. “How about we go inside and change. Then we can set up a bed out here. So we end our day together already seeing a sunset. That way we can watch the sunrise together starting a brand new day as fiancés.” Kelly suggests already knowing Alex’s response.“How do you always know the right things to say?” Alex asks.

“I am so proud of you, you know that?” Kelly turned to look at Alex before focusing back to the road. Alex just takes Kelly’s hand and gives it a tight squeeze. They sit there in silence except for the radio playing. “How do I apologize for the things I said and how I pushed her away.” Alex had a few tears rolling down her cheeks. “Kara will understand. It doesn’t matter what is said the ones who love you will stay no matter what.”

It’s quiet neither woman is really sure how this is going to go. Kelly continues “You and Kara have been through hell and back. A sisters bond is stronger than anything, even supergirl herself.” Alex smiles and lets out a small chuckle. “From what I can see you and Kara’s bond is unbreakable.”Kelly squeezes Alex’s hand “Mhmm” is all Alex can really answer right now.

Alex is upset about everything that has happened in the past two days. She’s upset about how she reacted. How she pushed the people who love her away. She thinks back to the look on Kara’s face while she was yelling. She always swore to protect Kara to always be the best big sister she could be.

Yes they fought before but they never had this big of an argument. They never went a day without talking to each other. She knows Kelly is right about Kara always being there and their unbreakable bond. But she’s never lashed out like that. It makes her really think about the way she deals with stress.

Alex thinks back to what Kelly said and she breaks the silence by asking a question. A question which is more of a fear and also regret. “Babe?”Alex asks. Kelly squeezes Alex’s hand to show she’s listening. ”You said people who love you will stay. Why do you think my dad left?” Alex let’s out a huff trying to keep her tears at bay.Alex didn’t want to sound like a little kid but it’s always been a question she’s wondered. Hearing Kelly say people who love you will stay finally gave Alex the courage to ask this question that has haunted her.

Kelly is a little bit taken back by Alex’s question, but is proud she’s talking about her feelings. Kelly pulls the car to the side of the road so she can look at Alex.Before anything is said Kelly leans over kisses Alex’s forehead. Alex looks at Kelly with tears threatening to fall. “I can’t tell you why he didn’t stay, or why he never called or came back that last time. There are different reasons or excuses that unfortunately you’ll never get the answers to. I wish I could give you the answers so that you don’t feel like it was your fault.”

Alex just closes her eyes because she does think it’s partly her fault.”When he left the first time you were still a kid. Nothing that you did back then would of changed his mind. He thought that he was keeping you,Kara and Eliza safe. Maybe he was but maybe he wasn’t. There are so many unknowns so many unanswered questions. I can’t even begin to understand what you are feeling right now. But I will make sure to show you that you’re not alone. That you’ve always got me.”

Alex closes her eyes tears falling while Kelly slowly tries to catch them. “Right now things are messy and they suck. I know you don’t like to show your feelings or have people help you. You would rather give the comfort than receive it. Sometimes the toughest and strongest need reminding that it’s ok to not always be ok. It’s okay to let people help you and to love you the way you always do for them.”

They sit there for a few minutes while Kelly wipes Alex’s tears from her cheeks. She hates seeing Alex broken knowing her girlfriend still thinks she’s at fault. Kelly vows to herself that whatever Alex needs she’ll be there. Kelly runs her hand through Alex’s hair leans over kisses her cheek.Kelly gently says ”I’ve got you.”
