No really. Watch this.
Ancient Chinese instrument, the sheng, which originated back in 1,100 BC, and it can perfectly replicate the music in Mario.
It even makes the coin noises.

Fflewddur?
Helen kissed him back happily and smiled as he pulled away. She watched him with a starry eyed expression for a moment before moving onto her own task. Putting the movie in the player, she sat back on the couch and waited for him. Her want of water over wine wasnāt for her lack of loving the stuff, but the most alcohol sheād ever had at once was several glasses when she was upset; sheād never even been drunk. She just hoped that her not wanting to drink it most of them time didnāt make him stop drinking it if he enjoyed doing so. When Fflewddur walked in with a pitcher full of water, she smiled. āThinking ahead, I like it.ā She turned the televisionās sound back on and got ready to push play. āI believe it is, letās watch some Harrison Ford.ā
"I generally try to think ahead. When I think of it. It's partly because this is Indiana Jones and really no one needs that many interruptions while watching this movie. And I'm planning on holding you for most of the movie once we finish eating and if we have to get up that will interrupt that. Which was not what I had planned on saying. Why don't you play the movie now." Pretending to be completely composed, he settled next to her on the couch and picked up his own food. He couldn't say anything embarrassing if he was in the middle of eating. Well he could, but it was more difficult. Still, the movie was on a moment later and he could lose himself in the familiar action, eating almost absent mindedly.Ā

Where did I put it?
Indeed it is, and youāre right; much less stress this way. ā¢ā¢ Good, Iād hate to ruin a perfectly good surprise. Thatās very true, and an excellent point; I canāt inquire after something I know nothing about. Ah yes, well Iāll be sure and not ask you when it comes to those specifically. Thank you so very much Fflewdur, I appreciate you agreeing to accompany me. ā¢shrugs⢠No itās not, but for all I know sheāll be doing this again; sheās not great at relationships. No I donāt, and thatās just it, I have never met this man before, and in less than six months heās going to be my stepfather. Sheās had beaus before, even been close to engagement a few times, but Iāve never met any of them, just heard about them. ā¢smiles sadly⢠I suppose so, but seeing as my bravery tends to land me in fights with my mother, Iād rather not ruin her day with it. ā¢scoffs⢠While Iāll try and remember that, it doesnāt offer much comfort; you should be more careful. ā¢nods⢠They are, and I to am sure you three will get along splendidly.
See? We're already figuring out good compromises, we'll have the whole surprise business sorted out in no time. It is no trouble, really. I'm glad to be there. That is-odd. Since you are her daughter you would think that she would be more interested in sharing this part of her life with you. Especially if it has gotten serious enough that she is intending to marry him. Hm, I can see why you wouldn't want to do that. Well you can rant to me instead of yelling at her. [trying to keep the mood light] As long as there are no dungeons around, we should be fine. For some reason people who own dungeons like to put other people inside them for very silly reasons. Great! I can't wait. Ā

Improvisation
Fflewddur?
"Yes we did, but I donāt think it was the conversation, it was just you." Helen blushed an even deeper red at her own words before clearling her throat. She was easily distracted by Fflewddur when he was around, and while it was a lovely feeling it could also make her forget things.Ā "Thanks, itās going to take a minute to find the movies." As he began searching through the cupboards, she went in search of the movies. It didnāt take her too long to find them, but the remote was a whole other matter. She looked up when he spoke to her, and she answered quickly.Ā "Water is fine for now thanks; I donāt drink alcohol all that often." Turning back, she saw the remote in plain sight and shook her head with a smile.
Fflewddur grinned at her, still amazed that he had found someone who would say something like that. Impulsively he leaned forward and gave her a quick kiss before moving into the kitchen. "Water, got it." It was also interesting to know that she didn't drink alcohol that often. he was a casual drinker, changing his preference depending on the context he was in but he had no special love for the habit. Easy enough to let it go now. Back in the kitchen he found a pitcher easily enough and he filled it up with water. This way they wouldn't have to get up too often during the movie. One glass full of milk, another empty, and the pitcher in hand, he walked back to Helen and set the drinks down, mildly impressed he hadn't spilled anything. "I think that is everything. The movie all set?"
Merry Christmas || Fflelen
"I know, and I appreciate it; very much." With him around, knew she wouldnāt dwell on being alone for the holiday, instead sheād concentrate on having a nice day with him. His insistence that sheād done a good job picking a present made her smile.Ā "Of course I thought about it, it wouldnāt be a heartfelt gift otherwise now would it?" She chuckled and nodded as Fflewddur managed to successfully unwrap it.Ā "Yes, or you can do that." She let out a relieved breath that he seemed happy with the gift choices.Ā "Well I saw the quote and thought of you, but I couldnāt find anything else with it so I just bought that. You donāt have to wear it; I mean I know you just said you would but..never mind, Iām glad you like it." She was blushing now that sheād rambled, but she was smiling too, knowing that he liked the gifts. "Of course Iāll watch it with you, whenever you want." Nodding she reached out to straighten the chain. "It looks good, simple and not flashy; both good things." Helen drank a big gulp of her cocoa before speaking again. "I really loved my gift too by the way, I know I said that earlier, but it never hurts to remind right?"
āSo, thatās an automatic recipe for success. Ok not necessarily automatic as Iām sure there are people who put lots of thought into terrible gifts but Iām almost positive that that is a minority group.ā It was difficult giving blanket compliments when he also had to be honest, but he tried anyway. Fflewddur grinned over at her. āI know I donāt have to wear it, but I want to. The phrase does fit rather well and itās a good reminder.ā He grinned as she adjusted the chain, catching her hand as soon as she was done to press a kiss to the back of it in thanks. āIām glad it has your stamp of approval. And my gift seems a little small now in comparison to all this but Iām glad you like it.ā He thought for a moment before beaming. āI have an idea! Why donāt we watch the DVD now and then we can make some kind of fancy dinner together and call that the rest of our celebration? Then I get to watch the movie with you and maybe youāll relax and stop feeling like you have to play hostess quite so much.ā

With a Smile and a Song || Fflelen
Helen was rushing around making sure dinner was cooking as it should and that the heater on the deck were working. She went through every room in the house making sure that it was presentable, and then just sat in the kitchen, waiting. The Wicked tickets sheād bought for him were in a green envelope with a miniature black bow on the outside; the colors werenāt very Valentine-esque, but they were very Wicked-esque. The timer dinged at the same moment she heard a knock at the front door, so she rushed to turn off of the oven before walking to the door; stopping only to make sure she looked decent. Upon reaching the door, she opened it with a bright smile. āGood evening darling.ā Stepping aside she made a flourish as she motioned him in. āCome in, come in. Dinner just finished, but itāll keep if youāre willing to let me in n why you needed the violin..ā
It must have only been a minute or two, but his impatience made it feel like ages. At least he was positive that his instrument would take no damage from being out in the cold for a couple minutes; he'd gotten a special case years ago which insulated his violin from absolutely everything. So he didn't really have anything to worry about. Then Helen opened the door and he found himself grinning back at her. "Good evening Helen. Happy Valentine's Day." He chuckled slightly at the flourish before he followed the motion to step inside the room, unzipping his jacket in the same moment. At her comment he felt a sudden return of nerves, although he would have tried to deny that being nervous was what he was feeling. Tried being the operative word but it was the effort that counted right? "If dinner is ready I don't want to risk it getting cold and having it be my fault. It isn't much really I just wanted to play you - a thing. A piece. A piece of music that I-. Like I said I'm flexible and I wouldn't want to risk spoiling your hard work. Really."

Where did I put it?
ā¢smiles against his lips caught a little off guard⢠Exactly. ā¢chuckles⢠I get it, and while there would never be a reason for you not to bring it, I understand your caution. Aside from watching my grandfather give my grandmother roses, Iāve never had Valentineās either, so Iām sure between the two of us weāll work it out. ā¢chuckles⢠Thatās a good point, okay Iāll cooperate; promise. Should you ever have future surprises though, just warn me not to ask about them, or remind me. ā¢smiles sadly⢠Thank you, I very much appreciate that. I love weddings too actually, but Iām not really forward to this one. ā¢clears her throat again⢠Well there is, itās my motherās wedding actually; to a Patrick..I donāt even know his last name. My mother decided to tell me after everything was planned and settled that it was even happening, so Iām a bit⦠Well Iām upset with her to be honest, but thereās nothing I can do about that now. ā¢smiles at him gratefully⢠Iām certainly glad weāre dating then, I donāt know what Iād do if I had to go alone. ā¢kisses him sweetly⢠I hope you realize that it means meeting my family, and while Iām sure my grandparents will be nothing short of wonderful, I make no promises about my mother.
At least the caution isn't necessary this time, which I can appreciate. It's nice that it is the both of us learning at the same time; it removes a little of the pressure. [grins] I can do that. The nice thing about surprises is that as long as you don't know what I'm planning, you can't ask about it in a way that makes me give it away. Of course birthdays and Christmas and anniversaries and the like will be a bit more difficult, but I'm sure we can work around that. I'll try to make this wedding as fun as possible then, remind you why you like them so much. That sounds-bizare in its way. It isn't every day that you are part of the wedding party for your own mother. Wait, you don't know the man's last name? How often have you met him before? You'd handle yourself as bravely as always, of that I have no doubt. [returns the kiss, trying to offer as much comfort as possible] Don't worry about me, I've handled myself in worse situations than meeting a difficult family member and if you say your grandparents are wonderful I'm sure I'll like them.Ā
With a Smile and a Song || Fflelen
Slightly nervously Fflewddur tugged at the end of his sleeve with his free hand, violin case held in the other. He knew they hadn't been together for very long, but whatever they were, it already mattered a lot to him. In a way, this was his first sort of 'big' Valentine's Day and he wanted it to go perfectly. Or as well as possible. Whichever worked. But on his end all the prep work was done and he was out of time to be worrying about it anyway. The song was finished, he had it memorized, violin and bow were in the case (he may have forgotten his bow once and it was a traumatic experience so he had never made the mistake again), he was dressed and he was here. All that was left was to be with her. With a final deep breath he reached over and knocked at the door.Ā
