We’re sorry for the hiatus, we had to say goodbye to our little Obi recently. However, he is no longer dealing with pain every day and we cherish every moment we got to spend with him. Now there are no limits to what he can explore.
She’s been napping with me these past few rainy days.
Anytime I’m cooking, Lana throws herself dramatically on my feet and licks her lips in the hope of getting a little nibble of egg
I was on the exercise bike and felt like someone was watching me for awhile. Eventually I looked down and saw this

We had to take the little baby Sirius to the emergency vet recently because he wouldn’t stop vomiting and was acting super lethargic. He is our super playful, happy go lucky guy so it was very unlike him. We get there around 8 PM and because of the virus, have to wait in the car. Of course, as soon as we get there he starts acting just fine and begging to get out, but we have him checked out anyway.
5 hours in the car and $650 later, they tell us they didn’t find anything in the x ray and are unsure what’s up, so it could be a UTI. Would we like to keep him overnight and run some more expensive tests? In the same breath we are told he is “alert and....lively.” So I know he is terrorizing that cage they put him in and wants to come home.
We decide to just take him home on medications and keep an eye on him for awhile. We put the other two upstairs and confined him to the cage. We were told no food for 24 hours, and if you know Sirius, you know he absolutely doesn’t miss a meal. I slept downstairs with him in case I heard him vomiting again.
Listen, I love animals, but after 5 hours being in the car, not having sleep, and being stressed, I was ready to have it out with this little fucker. I am trying so hard to sleep but first, I hear him scratching at the corner in the cage because there are little crumbs of food and he’s mad he can’t eat. It goes quiet for a minute and I sigh blissfully, happy to be able to go to sleep now. No. No, he was just pausing to finish his warm up. He then starts biting the bars of his cage and rattling the door as hard as he can so I can bring him his dinner. He knows I’m down there and he pauses every once in awhile to dart his head around and see if I am coming with a bowl. A single tear runs down my face. I just want to sleep. It’s 3 AM Sirius, I’m sorry, I can’t do anything.
It goes quiet for another few minutes and I think it’s over. It’s almost 4 AM now. Then I hear it. A slight jingle of a bell and I am filled with dread. We have a rope that has a jingly ball tied from the top of the cage that they can play with and of course they NEVER actually do. But today, it’s time for that toy to shine. When he’s mad he likes to teach this ball a thing or two and I hear him hanging on the rope with his mouth and SWINGING around the top of the cage. I shine a light from my phone at him and watch him aggressively throw himself around the cage hanging by this jingly ball because he wants dinner and he wants it NOW. I am resigned. I won’t sleep that night. After a half hour of this, he decides to sleep but I no longer care.
He had his fill of food and is doing well. We now think it was just a hairball because he is prone to them but will follow up with the regular vet after the meds are gone. Despite everything he did that night I still love my little Sirius Lee.
“Come play in the tube, ma!”

i know this is the worst possible time but i really need help
this morning, we found that one of our ferrets, nibbler, has a blockage in her stomach. her stomach is hard to the touch and is having difficulty going to the bathroom. we brought her into the vet and because it’s a sunday, we had to pay extra for emergency.
my dad is a self-employed handyman and the only provider for our family, and because of the pandemic, he isn’t being paid. we aren’t even sure if we can afford rent and other bills, let alone be able to pay for her surgery. she hasn’t even gotten the surgery yet because we can’t afford it yet. tomorrow we’re going to try going to a different vet and see if we can finance it, but if not, i’m not really sure what to do. the emergency vet sent us home with a $446 bill for just the emergency exam and some antibiotics and steroids. the surgery itself is expected to be at least $1000.
i’m an autistic and disabled nonbinary person and my ferrets are my support animals, i cannot function without them. i’m really really scared for her
i’ve set up a gofundme to help pay for the bill. i know with everyone out of a job right now, everyone’s low on cash, but even just a dollar or even just a reblog could help so so much.
please consider donating! Vet bills (especially for ferrets) can be very expensive. We spent easily ~3k when Annie got sick because she is considered exotic and we had to use the specialty vet
Big stretch!
He likes to get in there and play loudly in the egg pit by himself at 8 AM when everyone else is trying to sleep in
Happy National Ferret Day!
I did not expect that!

I think y’all three are too big for that little bed AND YOU ARE CRUSHING SIRIUS
Throwback to that time I tried to celebrate the new year with Lana.
