Kreative Mindfulness — Business Card Design
Kreative Mindfulness was dreamed up by Janet Slom, an accomplished abstract artist and mindfulness educator. This new venture focuses on her ever-evolving teaching program for Mindfulness-Based Self-expression (MBSE) as well as the launch of her book all about its teachings and philosophy.
This launch would be a new step forward in Janet’s own art and wellness career so it had to start off strong; after speaking with Janet and learning more about her philosophy, I crafted the design with the thought of pure mindfulness, utilizing a completely neutral palette to exude focus, a calm state of mind, and inner peace.
The overall inspiration for the brand is the Buddhist symbol for Zen, or the Zen Circle, which is used abstractly as the logo’s icon. The black and white palette allows viewers to focus on the circle in an almost meditative way. Also, the lack of highly saturated colors and even removing color from the images used on the business cards continues that trend of meditative thinking and a brand focus on self-awareness.

I've been going through my archive looking for sketches and preliminary drawings for a project, and I wanted to share how I build up my images. I realise it's something not everyone sees all the time.
I make a looser pencil drawing, work really heavily into it, then use a lightbox to make an inked version of the drawing, tracing over the top, which I then scan and colour digitally.

Oh Happy Honey — Logo Design
Oh Happy Honey is a logo and package concept I developed, focusing my efforts on creating a playful look for a ethical honey brand, the sort that promotes saving the bees and utilizing every bit of the honeycomb effectively. Oh Happy Honey, while being a win for all the environment and bee-conscious is also a favorite for those with a sense of humor. The goal was to craft a look that played into Oh Happy Honey’s whimsy and stepped away from the typical nature aesthetic or a rustic, farmyard look.
The final logo for Oh Happy Honey is inspired by comic book panels, slightly askew with bold, blocky strokes and bits coming off the edges of the box. I wanted each type of honey to have its own unique color scheme, but kept them within the same warm palette for consistency.
