Pink was too busy being dead so she wasn't involved in the Blast that happened in the show and thus the Gems weren't obliterated.

But what would have happened if she was involved but another Diamond wasn't?

For example, lets say Yellow is unavailable would Gems just be like ghosts or zombies; walking husk of their former selves; having their bodies but not their souls?

You all remember her rant to Yellow in the Jungle Moon flashback? How she wanted to help Yellow with the drop ships for that colony

“You have all these worlds and I don’t even have one!”

“I’m just as important as you!”

That to me sounds a lot more like a someone who’s desire for a colony wasn’t a goal in and of itself, but a way to be seem as an equal by the other Diamonds.

We see how the Diamonds treated Steven when they saw him as just “Pink”. Blue treating him like a joke, Yellow being annoyed, and White… just not giving a shit.

As someone who grew up neurodivergent in a largely conservative town, it felt much the same when dealing with many of the adults I interacted with at school. That desire to just be understood and respected despite those people either misunderstanding or not bothering to help me.

So looking back, it doesn’t surprise me at all that Rose had so much trouble with controlling her temper in the past. Because I had that problem as well. Fuck, I still do now!

And the fact that the fanbase either didn’t connect the dots or refuse to draw that line because they had already decided Rose was the worst… well… it’s left me with a chip on my shoulder to say the least.

And then when she finally got a colony and saw what that would mean for all the life that existed, what did she do?

She gave it up. Because she chose to do the right thing instead of what’d maybe make her personally happy.

I feel like Rose being left with no other options but to fight was the catalyst to her severing her ties with her abusers. There’s a whole story there that I’m sad we’ll likely never get to see.

In the series most of Stevens powers come from a need to protect those around him. His shield, his bubble, healing spit/tears, all designed, and come from the desire to, protect those around him. With the exception of his floating which comes from a sense of joy and happiness.

In Future his new powers stem from a subconscious need to protect himself, instead of a need to protect others. He's dealing with a lot and his powers are reacting in an explosive way to keep him safe. Super speed to escape a dangerous situation, explosive screams to throw the threat away from him, and panels, thicker and stronger than his shield and bubble, to shield him from the perceived threat.

Which then makes me wonder, since Pink on Homeworld was known for destructive "temper tantrums" how often she must've felt so unsafe, scared and unhappy that her powers reacted the way Stevens do in Future.

you can date or marry characters between any genders! - but you can only partner with one. or if you do have the option to date multiple, the game will treat you like youre cheating and cause negative effects for your relationships! but youll still only be able to marry one person! sorry polyamorous people!

you can choose a character to live with/be partnered to! - but you probably have to marry them and have obviously romantic and/or sexual interactions. sorry aspec, romance/sex-repulsed, and queerplatonic folks!

like. Again, its always great to see more options for queerness! its not like id rather these things to not be there at all. but it does suck to experience the particular mixture of joy and disappointment to see more ability to be queer in games, but never or rarely YOUR specific type(s) of queerness. or to have options thatre "almost there," where youre happy to pick a particular option, but still have a side of resignation on having to just pick whats "close enough" or limit yourself to only one aspect of your identity.

its just kind of another reminder that, even in many queer spaces, many of us are often still other. or not accepted at all. or superficially supported but rarely ever considered. or seen as "too much," "too confusing," or maybe even as "too weird/ridiculous" - to the point youre accused of "making the rest of us look bad/stupid/weird" or "being the reason for more hatecrimes against queers" by just being you- and so youre treated like, for the sake of the "real" and "good" queers, you shouldnt make yourself/your identity known. or you shouldnt be you. or you shouldnt exist, period.

And like. Attraction changes throughout people's lives. The obvious one where people tend to be attracted to anyone their age or older and it shifts as they age but smaller things like preferences, and what they find attractive in a person too. Including gender or presentation.
