FS Pimlico
FS Pimlico is my new design at Fontsmith. The typeface consists of three weights with true italics plus a 'glow' version with shiny bits. It's a very personal project which reflects a bit of my passion for the 70s/80s atmosphere and things like synthesizers, Letraset, disco & funk vinyl covers and so on. It's a very flexible family, ready to solve difficult design briefs with its broad range of uses, from text to display. Available to buy from www.fontsmith.com.

FS Jack selected in Tipos Latinos 2010
After taking part in the Bienal Letras Latinas 2006 with MelloSans and in Tipos Latinos 2008 with Frida, we kept the tradition: FS Jack, a new sans typesystem designed by me and Jason Smith at Fontsmith, was selected in the family category in Tipos Latinos 2010. Apart from having MelloSans as the corporate font for the event's identity, now FS Jack will also take part in all the upcoming exhibitions throughout Latin America and other parts of the world. Below is the A1 poster we just designed at Fontsmith for the exhibitions.
FS Jack is a workhorse but also very ownable and distinctive display/text sans-serif, available in a good range of weights which were carefully crafted by Jason and me in the last 2 years. Head to http://www.fontsmith.com for more information.

MelloSans, a true Latin design
The humanist sans-serif family MelloSans was my conclusive project in University back in SĂŁo Paulo in 2004. Since then, the family became quite popular mainly due to a selection in the Bienal Letras Latinas in 2006. I have been receiving loads of e-mails in the last years asking where is the font available, and the sad truth is, it isn't released anywhere. But the good news is, I've been reworking the family on the past three years, and finally, some hope arises: it will be used as the corporate typeface for the upcoming Bienal Tipos Latinos in 2010.

Frida
Frida is the typeface I created while enrolled in the MA in Typeface Design of the University of Reading in 2006-2007. It is a joint Latin-Tamil typeface, initially designed with newspapers in mind, but suitable to other media such as magazines, small publications and so on.
The typeface earned three recognitions in 2008: one of the TDC prizes at Tokyo TDC 2008 (the typeface creation was presented in Tokyo in April 2008 during the TDC Day Forum); one of the eight 'Constancia de Excelencia" in Tipos Latinos 2008; and it was also a finalist in the European Design Awards 2008.
The typeface is being adjusted very slowly due to the lack of free time to work on it, but will hopefully reach the market at some point in the future.

Welcome back to fermello.org!
After years of inactivity, I decided to join tumblr and point my domain fermello.org towards here, for the facilities the service offers facing my increasing lack of knowledge in webdesign, and also due to my laziness about doing something about my website. Therefore, much of the design and the functionality of this page comes from Redfield. Typefaces in use here are Calibri by Luc(as) de Groot (2007) and Lucida Grande by Charles Bigelow & Kris Holmes (1989).
