Bio
For most of her childhood, Layla lived a sheltered life. Her parents had protected her from those who would seek to cause her harm. At the age of eighteen, she lost control of herself when her parents were brutally murdered. She transformed into a fox, and wandered off into the night. The hunters that killed Layla's family tracked her, and almost did her in too. She savagely tore the humans apart, uncaring even as they pleaded for their lives. Why should they get to live, when they'd destroyed her life? The kumiho had been too frightened to return to her home village, as it was riddled with hunters. She kept to the forest, acting on instinct and killing any smaller animals for sustenance. She became one with the woods, gaining the power of wind as she channeled her energy. Layla spent almost nine years in fox form, unable to take on her human body since she was feral. When she finally grew weak and reverted back to human form, a hellhound who was obviously a foreigner nursed her to health. In her time away from the village, much had happened. The hunter's guild had closed down, and they'd moved on to tail other targets. The hellhound (Jacob) explained how their enemies had moved on to the United States in search of an imprisoned nogitsune. There was no surefire way to kill a nogitsune-- at least not without the holy sword of the legendary bladesmith Masamune. Luckily, Layla's family had owned the blade and they'd left it in a storage area in the attic of their home. The kumiho returned home to retrieve the sword, and then set off on a journey. Jake asked her to accompany him to the US, to stop the foolish hunters, and Layla willingly left her home country. They needed to get to Beacon Hills, California and vanquish the trickster spirit before it could be released.
