a/n: tysm for the request!! much love xx
The restaurant is loud in the way only small local places can be.
Music hums from overhead speakers, plates clatter somewhere behind the counter, and conversations blend together into a constant buzz. It’s nothing fancy—just somewhere close to the practice studio where all seven of you can finally sit down and eat after a long day.
You barely make it through the door before everyone starts claiming seats.
“Booth!” Lara announces dramatically, already heading toward the biggest one she can find.
The rest of the girls follow behind her, laughing.
You slide into one side of the booth, grateful to finally be off your feet.
Before you can even settle properly, Daniela drops into the seat beside you.
Naturally.
Like there’s nowhere else she would’ve sat.
You smile to yourself as she immediately leans into your side.
“Move,” she says.
You blink.
“What?”
“You’re taking up my space.”
You stare at her.
“Your space?”
Daniela nods seriously.
“Yeah.”
Then she proceeds to rest half her weight against you.
Across the table, Megan snorts into her drink.
“You literally sat next to her.”
“And?” Daniela asks.
“And now you’re acting like she’s invading your personal bubble.”
Daniela shrugs.
“She is.”
Sophia shakes her head.
Lara groans.
“Please. I just sat down.”
The table erupts into laughter.
You can feel Daniela smiling against your shoulder.
It’s comfortable.
Easy.
The kind of thing that stopped feeling new a long time ago.
Menus are passed around. Drinks are ordered.
Everyone talks over one another, bouncing between stories from practice and random topics that make absolutely no sense outside your group.
At some point, your food arrives.
At some point, Daniela decides your fries look better than hers.
You catch her hand reaching across your plate.
“Daniela.”
“No.”
“You haven’t even taken one yet.”
“No.”
You try to pull the basket away.
She steals two anyway.
“Thief.”
“Sharing is caring.”
“That’s not sharing.”
“It is when I do it.”
Megan nearly chokes laughing.
Even Yoonchae is smiling.
Nobody comments on it.
Nobody teases.
Because this is normal.
Daniela stealing your food.
Your knee pressed against hers beneath the table.
The absent-minded way she reaches for your hand while listening to Sophia talk.
It’s all become so routine that nobody pays attention anymore.
You don’t either.
You just sit there, surrounded by your members, listening to the chaos around the table while Daniela leans against your side like she belongs there.
Like she always has.
Like she always will.
The conversation flows easily around the table.
Lara is in the middle of telling some ridiculous story from practice, complete with dramatic hand gestures and exaggerated impressions. Manon keeps interrupting to correct details, which only makes everyone laugh harder.
You barely get a word in.
Not that you mind.
Watching the chaos is entertaining enough.
The waiter returns a few minutes later to check on the table.
He’s around your age, maybe a little older.
Friendly.
Easygoing.
The kind of person who talks to customers like he’s known them for years.
“Everything good?” he asks.
A chorus of nods answers him.
“Perfect.”
He starts collecting empty baskets and used napkins from the edge of the table.
Then he glances toward Daniela.
For a second, you think he’s about to ask if she needs a refill.
Instead, he smiles.
“So, random question.”
The table quiets slightly.
Daniela looks up.
“Hm?”
The waiter scratches the back of his neck.
“You single?”
Silence.
Not actual silence.
Nobody stops breathing.
Nobody drops a fork.
But suddenly every member at the table is paying attention.
You see Lara’s eyes widen.
Megan immediately looks away, trying—and failing—to hide her grin.
Sophia presses her lips together.
Manon nearly chokes on her drink.
The collective reaction is practically written across their faces.
Bro.
Seriously?
At work?
Right in front of everybody?
Daniela lets out a surprised laugh.
Clearly caught off guard.
“What?”
“You know,” the waiter says, smiling sheepishly. “Just thought I’d ask.”
The girls are trying so hard not to react.
Trying.
And failing.
You have to bite back a laugh yourself.
Then Daniela pauses.
Just for a second.
A tiny one.
Barely noticeable.
But you notice it.
Because it’s Daniela.
Because you know her.
Because you know the difference between when she’s thinking and when she’s not.
Her eyes flicker.
Just briefly.
Like her brain is sorting through something.
One second.
Maybe less.
Then she laughs again.
“No.”
The answer comes easily enough.
“Definitely not.”
The waiter immediately raises his hands.
“Okay, okay. Had to shoot my shot.”
The entire table bursts into laughter.
“Oh my God,” Lara groans.
Manon drops her head onto the table.
Sophia is openly smiling now.
Even Daniela is laughing.
The waiter shakes his head dramatically before walking away.
“Enjoy your food.”
The moment passes almost instantly.
Conversation picks right back up.
Lara starts talking again.
Megan makes another joke.
Daniela reaches over and steals another fry from your basket.
Normal.
Everything is normal.
Nobody makes a big deal out of it.
Nobody even mentions it.
But as the conversation continues around you, your attention drifts.
Back to that moment.
Back to that tiny pause.
That brief hesitation before her answer.
You stare down at your drink.
No.
The answer itself had been easy.
Immediate, even.
So why does that split second keep replaying in your head?
Why does it feel louder every time you remember it?
You glance over at Daniela.
She’s smiling at something Sophia is saying, completely relaxed.
Completely unaware.
And you force yourself to smile too.
Because it was probably nothing.
Right?
Just a second.
A meaningless little pause.
Nothing worth thinking about.
Nothing worth remembering.
Yet somehow, you can’t stop remembering it anyway.
You tell yourself it’s fine.
Because objectively, it is.
Daniela said no.
Daniela literally said she wasn’t single.
End of story.
So why are you still thinking about it?
The conversation around the table continues like nothing happened.
Because nothing did happen.
Manon is talking about an upcoming schedule.
Lara is arguing with Megan over something completely ridiculous.
Yoonchae is quietly eating while occasionally laughing at everyone else.
Everything is normal.
Daniela is normal.
She reaches for your hand beneath the table without even looking.
Her fingers find yours automatically.
Like muscle memory.
Like breathing.
You squeeze her hand back.
She squeezes yours once before returning her attention to the conversation.
Normal.
A few minutes later, she steals another fry.
You glare.
She grins.
Normal.
When she laughs too hard at something Megan says, she ends up leaning against your shoulder.
Normal.
Everything is normal.
So why can’t you stop thinking about it?
The pause.
Just one second.
Maybe less.
A tiny hesitation that nobody else seemed to care about.
You glance over at Daniela.
She’s smiling.
Relaxed.
Completely unaware of the argument currently happening inside your head.
Your stomach twists.
If the answer was easy, why did she hesitate?
The thought appears before you can stop it.
You immediately try to push it away.
Because that’s ridiculous.
Because you know Daniela.
Because she literally said no.
But the question comes back anyway.
Why did she need to think about it?
Maybe she was surprised.
Maybe she was caught off guard.
Your thoughts derail.
Was she deciding whether to tell him?
The idea makes your chest tighten.
No.
That wasn’t fair.
You know it wasn’t.
Still, your brain keeps going.
Was she deciding if I counted?
You stare down at the table.
The noise around you suddenly feels farther away.
Was she embarrassed?
The thought hurts more than you’d like to admit.
Not because Daniela had done anything wrong.
Not because she had actually said anything hurtful.
But because now that the possibility exists, you can’t stop imagining it.
You remember the way her eyes flickered.
The way she paused.
The way her expression shifted for that brief second before answering.
The memory replays.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Each time your brain fills in a different explanation.
None of them good.
You hate that you’re doing this.
Hate that you’re dissecting a moment that lasted less than a second.
Hate that you’re letting it get to you.
Especially because Daniela is still sitting right beside you.
Still holding your hand.
Still stealing food from your plate.
Still looking at you the same way she always does.
Nothing has changed.
Except now every time you look at her, that pause echoes in the back of your mind.
Small.
Insignificant.
And somehow impossible to ignore.
You laugh at one of Lara’s jokes a second too late.
Daniela glances over.
“You okay?”
The question is casual.
Simple.
You force a smile.
“Yeah.”
And maybe that’s the worst part.
Because for a moment, you almost believe yourself.
—
By the time the seven of you get back to the dorm, you’ve almost convinced yourself you’re over it.
Almost.
The ride home had been normal.
Practice footage.
Random TikToks.
Daniela’s hand finding yours whenever she could.
Normal.
Everything had been normal.
So normal, in fact, that you start wondering if maybe you’re being ridiculous.
Maybe you imagined the whole thing.
Maybe you’re making a problem out of absolutely nothing.
That thought follows you through dinner, through showers, through the rest of the evening.
Until eventually everyone begins retreating to their rooms.
The dorm settles into a quieter rhythm.
Doors closing.
Showers running.
The occasional laugh echoing down the hallway.
You and Daniela end up in her room.
Or your room.
Honestly, at this point neither of you know anymore.
You technically have separate beds.
Separate rooms.
But somewhere along the way that stopped mattering.
Most nights ended the same.
Together.
Tonight should’ve been no different.
Daniela is sitting against the headboard scrolling through her phone when you climb into bed beside her.
Usually you’d immediately steal half the blanket.
Usually you’d complain that she’s taking up too much space.
Usually she’d complain right back.
Instead, you settle down quietly.
A little farther away than normal.
Not much.
Just enough.
Daniela doesn’t notice at first.
She’s too focused on whatever video Sophia sent the group chat.
But after a few minutes—she does.
You feel it before you see it.
The way her attention shifts.
The way her eyes linger.
You keep staring at your phone.
Pretending not to notice.
A minute passes.
Then another.
Then Daniela scoots closer.
Instinctively.
Like she always does.
Usually you’d meet her halfway.
Tonight you don’t.
The silence stretches.
You can practically hear the gears turning in her head.
Then:
“Okay.”
Uh oh.
You already know that tone.
You lower your phone slightly.
Daniela is staring at you now.
Completely unconvinced.
“What?”
“What’s wrong?”
You answer immediately.
Too immediately.
“Nothing.”
Daniela snorts.
Actually snorts.
Then she tosses her phone onto the nightstand.
“Liar.”
You roll your eyes.
“I’m serious.”
“No, you’re not.”
“Daniela—”
“You’ve been weird for hours.”
You look away.
Immediately confirming her point.
“See?”
You groan.
“That proves nothing.”
“It proves everything.”
She shifts closer again until your knees are touching beneath the blanket.
Normally the contact would make you smile.
Tonight it just makes your stomach twist.
Daniela notices that too.
And suddenly she isn’t teasing anymore.
The amusement fades from her face.
Replaced by concern.
Real concern.
Her voice softens.
“Baby.”
You hate when she uses that voice.
Because it always makes it harder to dodge the question.
Daniela reaches for your hand.
When you let her take it, her thumb brushes across your knuckles.
Gentle.
Patient.
Waiting.
“What happened?”
You stare at your intertwined fingers.
Part of you wants to tell her.
The other part thinks you’re being ridiculous.
Because how do you explain that one tiny pause has been haunting you all day?
How do you admit you’ve spent hours overthinking something she probably forgot five minutes later?
The silence grows.
And Daniela’s expression slowly changes.
The concern remains.
But now there’s something else there too.
Recognition.
Like she’s running through the day in her head.
Trying to find the moment everything shifted.
Trying to figure out what she missed.
And judging by the way her eyes narrow slightly—she’s getting closer.
The room feels smaller than it did five minutes ago.
Maybe it’s because Daniela is looking at you like that.
You keep your eyes fixed on your hands.
Anywhere but her.
Because now that you’re here, now that she’s asking, suddenly it sounds ridiculous.
It’s been bothering you for hours.
Hours.
And for what?
A pause.
One second.
Maybe less.
The longer you stay quiet, the more Daniela studies your face.
Then something clicks.
You see it happen.
The moment her expression changes.
Subtle.
But there.
And somehow that makes your stomach drop.
Because she knows.
Before you even say it.
Daniela already knows.
“Baby?”
Her voice is softer now.
Careful.
You swallow.
“The waiter.”
The words come out quieter than you intended.
For a second, neither of you move.
Then Daniela freezes.
Completely.
And somehow that feels worse than if she’d looked confused.
Because she recognized it instantly.
No questions.
No hesitation.
No which waiter?
She knows exactly what you’re talking about.
Which means she noticed it too.
Your chest tightens.
Daniela closes her eyes briefly.
Almost like she’s already figured out where this is going.
“Oh.”
Just one word.
But it tells you everything.
The room falls silent.
You hate this.
You hate how embarrassed you feel.
You hate how childish it sounds now that it’s actually leaving your mouth.
You’ve spent the entire day arguing with yourself.
Telling yourself to get over it.
Telling yourself it wasn’t a big deal.
And yet here you are.
Still thinking about it.
Still hurt.
Still wondering.
Daniela waits.
Giving you room to say what you need to say.
Even if it’s uncomfortable.
Even if it’s messy.
Finally, you force yourself to look at her.
“You hesitated.”
The words barely rise above a whisper.
Silence.
Daniela’s face falls.
Not dramatically.
Not guiltily.
Just…sad.
Like she’s finally seeing the picture you’ve been staring at all day.
And she doesn’t like it.
Your gaze drops again.
Immediately.
Because now that you’ve said it out loud, it sounds even worse.
You laugh softly.
A humorless little thing.
“I know it’s stupid.”
“It’s not stupid.”
“It kind of is.”
“Y/N.”
You shake your head.
“No, seriously.”
Your voice cracks slightly.
Not enough to cry.
Just enough to annoy you.
“It was just one second.”
Daniela stays quiet.
Listening.
Which somehow makes it easier to keep talking.
And harder at the same time.
“It shouldn’t even matter.”
You stare down at the blanket gathered in your lap.
“But I keep thinking about it.”
The confession hangs between you.
Heavy.
Honest.
You hadn’t planned on saying this much.
But now that you’ve started, you can’t stop.
“If the answer was easy…” You swallow. “Why did you have to think about it?”
Daniela’s eyes immediately soften.
Which somehow hurts more.
Because now she knows.
Now she knows exactly where your brain went.
You laugh again.
Bitter this time.
“See? It sounds dumb.”
“It doesn’t.”
“It does.”
Your throat feels tight.
“I know you said no.”
You glance at her.
“I know that.”
Daniela nods immediately.
“I know.”
“I know you did.”
The room is so quiet you can hear the air conditioner humming somewhere in the background.
You look away again.
Because the next part is the part you’re most embarrassed to admit.
The part you’ve been avoiding all day.
The part that’s been replaying in your head over and over.
“At first I thought maybe you were surprised.”
Daniela doesn’t interrupt.
“Then I thought maybe you were trying to decide if you wanted to tell him.”
The words leave your mouth before you can stop them.
You hate them immediately.
Daniela’s expression crumples.
Not hurt.
Heartbroken.
Like she wishes she could reach back in time and stop this before it ever happened.
“And then—”
You stop.
Because saying it out loud makes it real.
Daniela’s hand tightens around yours.
Not enough to stop you.
Just enough to remind you she’s there.
Waiting.
When you finally speak again, your voice is barely audible.
“I started wondering if you were deciding whether I counted.”
The words sit in the room between you.
Raw.
Ugly.
Vulnerable.
You immediately wish you could take them back.
Daniela’s face falls completely.
And in that moment, you realize she finally understands.
Not just what happened at the restaurant.
Not just why you’ve been quiet all night.
She understands what you’ve spent the last several hours convincing yourself of.
What you’ve been carrying around since lunch.
The fear underneath all of it.
The fear that for one second—one tiny, awful second—she had to think about choosing you.
And judging by the look on Daniela’s face, that’s the last thing she ever wanted you to believe.
For a moment, neither of you speak.
The words linger in the air.
I started wondering if you were deciding whether I counted.
The second the sentence leaves your mouth, you want to take it back.
Not because it isn’t true.
But because hearing it out loud makes it sound so much worse than it did inside your head.
Daniela stares at you.
Completely still.
Then her expression softens.
Not with frustration.
Not with annoyance.
Just sadness.
“Baby.”
Her voice is quiet.
Gentle.
You can’t bring yourself to look at her.
“That’s not why I paused.”
You stare down at your lap.
The blanket twists between your fingers.
“Then why?”
The question comes out smaller than you intended.
Not accusatory.
Just tired.
Daniela shifts closer.
Close enough that your shoulders brush.
Close enough that you can feel her presence beside you.
She doesn’t rush to answer.
Doesn’t try to brush it off.
Doesn’t tell you you’re overthinking.
And honestly, that alone makes something in your chest loosen.
Because she’s taking it seriously.
Taking you seriously.
Even if the whole thing started with a one-second pause.
“I was caught off guard.”
You nod slightly.
That makes sense.
But not enough.
Daniela must see it on your face because she continues.
“I wasn’t thinking about whether I was single.”
You finally glance up.
Her eyes meet yours immediately.
Steady.
Certain.
“I wasn’t thinking about you.”
The second she says it, her eyes widen.
“Wait, that came out wrong.”
Despite everything, you almost laugh.
Daniela groans.
“You know what I mean.”
A tiny smile threatens to appear.
Only for a second.
Daniela notices.
Good.
Maybe that’s why her shoulders relax a little.
She takes your hand again.
Holding it carefully between both of hers.
“When he asked, my first thought wasn’t about my relationship status.”
She pauses.
Choosing her words carefully.
“Honestly?”
You wait.
Daniela sighs.
“I was trying to decide how much of my business a complete stranger gets to know.”
She continues before you can respond.
“Because if I say I have a girlfriend, that’s different.”
Your eyebrows pull together.
Daniela shrugs slightly.
“You know how people are.”
Unfortunately, you do.
You know exactly what she means.
The headlines.
The speculation.
The clips.
The comments.
The way one casual sentence can somehow become everyone’s discussion topic for the next week.
Daniela leans back against the headboard.
Still holding your hand.
“I was wondering if I wanted to deal with that.”
Her voice remains calm.
Matter-of-fact.
Not angry.
Just honest.
“I was wondering if I wanted to answer at all.”
You think back to lunch.
To the way she’d looked surprised.
To that tiny flicker in her eyes.
“I wasn’t sitting there deciding if I wanted you.”
The statement is immediate.
Firm.
Like she needs you to hear it.
Really hear it.
Your gaze drops.
Daniela squeezes your hand.
“Baby, look at me.”
Slowly, you do.
Her expression softens again the second your eyes meet.
“The answer wasn’t what I was thinking about.”
Daniela’s thumb brushes across your knuckles.
“The answer was easy.”
Something in your chest cracks.
Not painfully.
Like tension finally giving way.
Like a knot that’s been pulled tight all day finally starting to unravel.
Daniela shakes her head slightly.
“If he’d asked me what I wanted to order, I probably would’ve paused longer.”
A reluctant laugh escapes you.
Daniela immediately points.
“There she is.”
You roll your eyes.
But this time there’s no real weight behind it.
No ache.
No twisting uncertainty.
Just the lingering embarrassment of having spent an entire day torturing yourself over something that suddenly feels so much smaller.
Daniela notices the shift immediately.
The way your shoulders aren’t quite as tense.
The way you’re finally looking at her again.
And she smiles.
Like she’s just happy you’re letting her explain.
Happy that you’re letting her in.
Because if there’s one thing Daniela has made clear tonight, it’s that she never wants you sitting alone with those fears when she’d much rather be there to answer them herself.
For a second, neither of you say anything.
Then you laugh.
A real laugh this time.
Not because any of this is particularly funny.
Mostly because you’ve spent the last several hours making yourself miserable over something that now feels embarrassingly small.
Daniela squints at you.
“What?”
You shake your head, still laughing.
“Nothing.”
“Y/N.”
You hide your face in your hands.
Immediately, Daniela knows.
“Oh my God.”
“No.”
“Oh my God.”
“Don’t.”
“You really thought I was sitting there debating whether I wanted you?”
You groan.
“Can we not do this?”
Daniela stares.
Actually stares.
Then points at you.
“You did.”
You bury your face in a pillow.
“For like six hours.”
The room goes silent.
Then
“Six HOURS?”
You laugh again.
Daniela falls back against the headboard dramatically.
“That’s a full work shift.”
“It’s not my fault.”
“It is entirely your fault.”
You throw a pillow at her.
She catches it.
Unfortunately.
Somewhere down the hall, a voice yells:
“ARE THEY DONE BEING SAD?”
Megan.
Definitely Megan.
You immediately close your eyes.
“No.”
Daniela laughs.
Another voice follows.
This time Lara.
“Tell them I was right.”
“You weren’t right about anything!” you yell back.
A muffled “I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH” echoes through the hallway.
The two of you dissolve into laughter.
Just like that, the last bit of tension disappears.
Daniela nudges your shoulder with hers.
“You know you could’ve just told me earlier.”
You groan.
“I know.”
“Could’ve saved yourself six hours.”
“I know.”
“Could’ve saved me from finding out my girlfriend thinks I secretly hate her.”
“That is not what I said.”
“It kind of was.”
“It was not.”
Daniela gives you a look.
You immediately look away.
“Okay, maybe a little.”
“A little?”
“Be quiet.”
Daniela grins.
The kind of grin that tells you she’s going to bring this up again later.
Probably multiple times.
For weeks.
Maybe months.
You already regret telling her.
Eventually, you shift closer on your own.
No hesitation this time.
No weird distance.
Just settling into the familiar space beside her.
Daniela’s arm slips around your shoulders automatically.
Neither of you mention it.
You don’t have to.
A comfortable silence settles over the room.
Then:
“Next time somebody asks if I’m single, I’m just pointing at you.”
You immediately groan.
“Please don’t.”
“I’m doing it.”
“Daniela.”
“I’m serious.”
“That’s so embarrassing.”
“Seems pretty efficient to me.”
You pull the blanket over your face.
Daniela laughs.
And for the first time since lunch, the memory of that stupid pause doesn’t replay in your head.
Instead, all you can think about is how annoying she is.
Which feels a lot more normal.
Songs on the Radio
Pairings: Daniela Avanzini x Female Reader
Wherein: Y/n's a big fat yearner while Daniela's dense and confused. And for some reason, the songs on the radio always matches what they're currently feeling.
Word Count: 6k
a/n: This is my first time writing a fic so please bear with me if there are any grammatical error.
---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----
A typical college student’s routine typically consists of waking up, getting dressed, attending classes, and going straight home. However, Y/n’s routine just has a few steps added into it.
As you walk towards your car, shoulders heavy with the weight of your bag and the failed quiz paper you’d just crumpled and shoved inside, your phone buzzes with a familiar tone. One you specifically set for a certain person, so you know if you can just ignore the call or not.
“Hey! Are your classes done already?” The voice rings out as you get into the driver’s seat. “Just finished. What’s up?” You ask casually, turning the car engine on as it hums to life.
You look around for a bit, adjusting your glasses as you wait for the caller to answer. Cars were slowly driving out of the school campus one by one.
“Break time’s almost near, are you going to come over?”
You look down at your watch flashing the numbers 5:30 pm with a white neon color. Usually around this time, you would stop by a boba tea shop and order 6 drinks for take out, driving to a familiar studio afterwards.
“Dani, you act like I don’t visit you and the girls in the studio almost everyday.” You can hear her giggle at the other end of the line, making your heart melt just a little. After being friends with Daniela for so long, you’ve forgotten when her laugh started to make your heart beat faster instead of it sounding funnier than the joke itself.
You place your phone in the center console and connect it to the speaker, so you could easily talk to her while driving out of your university’s parking lot. “What, can’t a girl miss her best friend?” You accidentally hit on the brakes while backing up, the car suddenly coming to a stop making you jerk backwards to your seat a little.
Daniela Avanzini has always been clear about her sexuality—not just to her fans, but also to you. She’s also been supportive of you ever since you came out to her back in high school because she started noticing your little crush on one of her cheerleader friends.
Similarly, you’ve never had an issue with her sexuality. That was until you started to develop feelings for her during your last year of high school before she auditioned for Dream Academy.
Hearing her call you her best friend had painfully brought you back to the reality that you’re just a college student who fell in love with her annoyingly gorgeous and talented friend.
“I-I. . . Yeah, okay that makes sense,” you forced out a response. “Hey, I’m about to drive. I’ll call you back later,” you say as you begin to drive out of the campus.
“Okay Y/n. Drive safe, I love you!” Daniela says as she ends the call. It was normal for friends to say I love you to each other. What wasn’t normal was the rate at which your heart was beating after hearing her last sentence.
You’re fully aware that she meant it platonically. You just can’t help but hope that one day, she can say it to you romantically.
You switch on the radio, a soft synth flowing through the speakers. You’re not familiar with the song, so you look at the screen and immediately scoff at the title.

The guard on duty at the studio sees a familiar car coming towards the gate. After confirming it was you, he gives you a quick nod and lets you in. You’ve been a frequent visitor of the girls, so everyone at the building practically knows you at this point.
Once you’ve parked your car, you grab the tray of drinks sitting in the passenger seat and make your way towards the familiar building. As you come closer to the door, you can already hear Sohey counting to the beat, the squeaks and stomps of shoes on the floor, and the thump of the bass coming from the song blasting through the speakers.
When the door swung slowly, heads turned to see who’s behind it. “Y/N!!” Six voices sing in chorus, but one voice just stands out a little more for you.
Sohey smiles as he watches you get swarmed by the girls. “Alright then, guess it’s time for a break," the choreographer says, shaking his head a little out of amusement. They see the tray of drinks in your hand and immediately get each of their own. After a few "Thank yous!” and “You're the best!” from the other 5 members, you finally get to see the one member you’ve been looking forward to seeing.
“Hey,” you say a little softly.
“Hi,” She says while smiling, showing off the dimples on her cheek you could only dream of kissing.
You hand Daniela her drink, your fingers brushing a little as she takes it from your hand. She gives you a tight hug, careful not to spill the drink on the both of you. “You don’t know how much I badly needed this,” the Latina murmurs by your ear, hugging you tighter—as if it were possible, given how tightly she was already hugging you.
A contented sigh escapes your lips as you lean into the hug, the weight on your shoulder instantly vanishing as it gets replaced by the familiar weight of the curly haired woman’s head.
She breaks the hug first, one hand resting on your left arm, the other hand going up to her mouth as she takes a sip from the cup she was holding. “Hey Y/n, come here! I want to show you something,” Megan shouts from the other side of the room. Besides Daniela, you’ve also gotten to know her band members—with you and Megan forming a bond over memes and gaming.
You give Daniela a small smile as you nod your head in her friend’s direction. You start walking ahead, with another set of feet following behind you. Once you’ve made it next to Megan, you take a seat beside her, and she immediately shows you her phone.
“Have you checked what’s in store on Fortnite today? We have to buy the matching skins!” You let out a laugh, seeing that she wanted the both of you to be Tung Tung Tung Sahur and Ballerina Cappucina. “Can’t we buy another skin?” You scroll through her phone. “What about Joker and Harley?” Her eyebrow raises as her nose scrunches. “Come on dude, that’s so cliche! I would’ve agreed if it was like, Poison Ivy and Harley or something.”
Across from you sat Daniela, who was beside Manon and Lara, who were busy laughing at the TikToks they were watching. She watches as the two of you bicker over what pair of skin is better to buy. She saw how your eyes twinkled despite your eyebrows being furrowed.
How your faces get closer as you both lean forward while laughing.
How your arm is wrapped around Megan’s shoulder, while her head rests on yours.
How her band member and her best friend seem to be getting along well. . . maybe a little too well for her own liking.
She feels something stir in her chest—a flash of annoyance and something else she can’t name. The Latina doesn’t know why she’s feeling like this. What confuses her more is that the thing she’s feeling right now is similar to what she felt when she saw her ex talking to another girl. She quickly brushes the feeling off as an effect from the caffeine in her drink.
The sound of someone clearing their throat catches Y/n’s attention. She shifts her body in front of her, brown eyes looking straight into hers. You tilt your head a little, a small smirk forming on your lips. She rolls her eyes, but you see how the corners of her lips raise subtly.
Megan’s attention seems to dart between the two of you, feeling a slight tension rise. Her eyebrows furrow a little until something clicks— a knowing smile making its way to her face. She knows of your feelings for her fellow band member after accidentally seeing both yours and Daniela’s initials in a heart written in the back of your notebook. You tried to deny it but ultimately told the truth.
“Hey guys," the voice cuts through your little staring contest. “I’m just going to go and check up on Yoonchae and Sophia.” Megan starts to make a move, leaving the Latina and her best friend alone. Daniela immediately occupies the seat beside you, her body automatically pressing up to your side. You wrap your arm on her waist, pulling her in closer to you.
“You okay?”
“Just tired,” she answers quietly, her eyes closing as she lays her head on your chest. Your free hand starts to comb her hair softly. The both of you lay there, blissfully unaware of your surroundings.
“Break’s over! Let's get back to formation,” Katseye’s choreographer says with a loud voice. You hear Daniela groan a little before she reluctantly stands up. You follow suit shortly after, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “Guess that’s my cue to leave." You gather your stuff and wave goodbye to the other members. She gives you one quick hug, muttering a “Drive safe" in your ear.
The drive back to your apartment was quiet, the only sound echoing through the car was the music playing on the radio. You stop at a red light, the sound of guitars and drums suddenly filling the space. Curious, you look at the radio’s screen.
Now playing: u+me= <3 by Olivia Rodrigo
You start to grin a little, the title reminding you of the written initials on the back of your notebook—the same one that Megan had accidentally seen. Your head bops to the beat, your fingers drumming on the steering wheel as you wait for the red light to turn green

The next day was the same. Wake up, attend classes, and pretend to study in advance at the school library. Except this time, your head had dropped on your notes as you drifted off to a slumber and had lost track of time. By the time you woke up, your body suddenly jolted, and your hands immediately reached for your phone. The numbers 7:00pm glowed through your screen, your eyes widening at the notifications beneath it.
6 missed calls and 7 unread texts. All from the same number.
Daniela’s.
“Fuck,” you mutter under your breath. In just a few seconds, you managed to pack all of your things up and quickly make your way to your car. You start to read the messages while walking. You saw a series of “Where are you?,” “Why aren’t you answering?,” and “Are you okay? I’m worried,” texts from the latter. You were busy trying to type a response that you failed to see the girl holding a drink in front of you.
Suddenly, you feel a cold liquid splash on your shirt. You frantically look up, seeing another girl in a similar state.
“Oh my God I’m sorry!”
“Holy shit, I wasn’t looking. I am so sorry!”
Two voices said at the same time. The both of you paused, and then suddenly burst into laughter. You wipe your glasses and take a closer look at the girl you’d just bumped into. Tall, pink hair, black glasses, and whisker dimples by her eyes.
Oh, it’s Stacey.
You both share a few classes together, often being paired up with each other as your last names are close with one another. She also happened to be one of your. . . exes? Well, you guys talked, but ended up deciding to stay friends.
Your phone suddenly rings again, that familiar ringtone echoing through the empty hallway. You look down at your phone, then up at Stacey. “Hey, I’m sorry about your drink. If you have time, I can buy you a new one.” You offer her your handkerchief, which she gratefully accepts. "Hmm," she hums, pretending to think about her answer as she wipes herself. “I’ll think about it," a teasing smile etched on her face. You giggle a little at her antics. “Well, if you’ve made up your mind, I still have the same number.” The both of you greeted each other goodbye and went on your own ways.
You’ve finally made it to your car, your shirt still a little damp as you called back the number previously calling you. Within just one ring, the line connects immediately.
“Oh my fucking gosh Y/n L/n, where the hell were you!” You move your phone away from your ear a little as Daniela’s voice booms through your speaker. “I’ve been calling you for like, a million times! Why weren’t you answering?” You can hear the worry laced in her loud voice. You start your engine and buckle your seatbelt. “I’m sorry Dani, I fell asleep in the library and lost track of time,” You explained softly. You hear a scoff from the other end of the line. “Fine, pick me up here at the studio. I rode with Megan today.” You agreed and she ended the call.
You made a quick stop at Shake Shack before making your way to the studio—a small peace offering for your friend.
A car comes to a halt in front of Daniela, whose arms were crossed on her chest and eyebrows knitted together as if someone had offended her. You step out of your car, jogging a little towards her and grabbing the bag that hung from her shoulder. You opened the door to your passenger seat, carefully guiding her in. You buckle her seatbelt for her and place her bag in the back seat.
Once the both of you had settled, you reached for the paper bag behind you and handed it to her. “I’m sorry,” you smile a little as she takes it from your hand. The both of you waved goodbye to the other girls before driving off.
Daniela takes a fry up to her mouth, the furrow on her eyebrows easing up a little. “I was worried,” she takes a sip of her drink, looking out the window. “I know,” a soft voice blends with the hum of the engine. “It wasn’t just me who was worried,” you take a quick look at her at the same time she turns her head towards you.
“Megan and the others were worried as well,” you hear a slight change of tone and a subtle emphasis on Megan’s name but decided to ignore it. The hand that was previously on the stick shift was suddenly holding Daniela’s. Your thumb brushing the back of her hand, trying to soothe the worried girl.
“I’m sorry for worrying you guys. I was just asleep in the library, I promise,” sincerity evident in your tone. This time, the woman on the passenger seat finally looks at you properly. Her eyes seemingly dart towards your stained and damp shirt. “What happened to your shirt?” She lets go of your hand for a second and reaches for her bag, rummaging through it to find her towel.
You slowly step on the brakes and look down at your shirt for a quick second, suddenly becoming aware of the sticky fabric clinging onto your skin. “I bumped into someone on the way to my car,” you replied as she finally found her towel. “Here,” she offered. “Put it inside your shirt so it doesn't cling to your body,” you grab the towel, doing exactly as she said.
The traffic seemed to take its sweet time, so the both of you just sat there—her chewing on her fries, you listening to the radio.
Now playing: Used to This by Camila Cabello
You look out through the window as you feel the corners of your lips suddenly lifting. Your head moves down and checks on the towel in your shirt, then on the hands that quickly found yours again after closing her bag—as if both your hands were the opposite poles of magnets. And in the back of your mind you hear a small voice, “I could get used to this.”
- - -
“ 5, 6, 7, 8!”
Six girls quickly move in sync—hands flicking in the air, hips snapping from left to right, and shoes squeaking to the beat.
The main dancer’s moves were sharp and focused, but her eyes were a little distracted. Her gaze flickers from the mirror towards the door, waiting for someone to enter.
A few minutes ago, Daniela had seen a small notification—a short “On my way” next to your name—popping up on her phone. Right as the song ended, the door opened, revealing you behind it.
A smile quickly forms on her face but disappears just as fast as it appeared. “Y/N!!" A voice rang out in the room, followed by someone running. She watches as Megan engulfs you in a hug, a large grin etched on your face as you try to balance the tray of drinks in your hand.
“Damn, missed me that much?” Her eyes followed as your other arm wrapped itself around her band member’s waist.
At the way your cheek was laying on top of the latter’s head.
And how sickeningly sweet the both of you look.
“Okay lovebirds, break it up!” Lara teases the both of you, the Latina’s eyebrow shooting up at the sentence. “Am I missing something?” She thinks to herself. “Is she hiding stuff from me?” Another thought crosses her mind.
The both of you let go and you set the drinks on the table. “Shut up Lara,” Megan tells the other girl while you rolled your eyes jokingly. You grab a specific drink and make your way towards a specific someone.
Daniela see’s you making your way to her so she immediately masks the frown on her face into a tight lipped smile. “Hey, got you your usual.” You open your arms and she immediately steps in, leaning her head on your chest.
She closes her eyes and breathes in your scent but instead, an unfamiliar perfume meets her nose. Her head pushed back so fast you could’ve sworn you heard her neck snap.
“Are you wearing a new perfume?” The woman in front of you asks suspiciously. Your head tilts to the side out of confusion. “No, why?” you grab your shirt and give it a whiff.
Oh.
Earlier that day, Stacey had texted you back, asking if your offer still stood. So you took her to a nearby cafe where she hugged you goodbye afterwards. You figured her perfume had rubbed off on you. “I met with a friend earlier,” you answered honestly. Daniela slowly nodded, taking a sip from her drink. “You should change,” she said—no, ordered. “I have an extra shirt in my bag. Go change," she said, pointing to the direction of said bag. You looked at her a little weirdly but didn’t try to fight her. "Yes, ma’am!” You jokingly said in a military-like manner.
You emptied your pocket, placing your phone on the table beside her bag, took the shirt, and went to the bathroom. The Latina went to grab her charger in her bag when she saw your phone light up. She didn’t mean to be nosy, but she couldn’t help read the notification.
Stacey: Hey, thanks for the coffee! I don’t know what I enjoyed more though, the drink or the company ;).
“What the fuck?” she accidentally said out loud. Who’s Stacey and why haven’t you mentioned her to Daniela before? She closed her eyes, trying to recall if you’d told her about this mysterious girl before.
“Woah, Y/n and Stacey are talking again?” A voice disrupts her train of thought. She turns around seeing Megan sipping on her drink as she peeked over her shoulder. “You know Stacey?” Her eyebrows rose up and her mouth dropped a little. How could Megan know and not her—your literal best friend.
And as if on cue, Lara connected her phone to the speaker and randomly chose a playlist on Spotify.
Now playing- Jealous Type by Doja Cat
You opened the bathroom door, suddenly greeted by an upbeat song. “I love this song!” You yell over the loud music and give Lara a high five. The tall figure starts to make her way towards Daniela, clueless about the frustration written on her face. “You know,” you start off, your attention fixed on the shirt you were previously wearing. “Your shirt kind of looks like the shirt I've been looking for a week,” You finally look up, a big grin on your face.
That’s when you saw it. Megan looking a little guilty beside your best friend who looked like she could burst any time now.
“I’m just gonna go. . .” Megan awkwardly starts backing off before running to Yoonchae. You look at Daniela, confusion evident on your face. “What happened?” You start getting closer to her, tucking a loose hair behind her ear. You tried to observe her face, but your eyes zeroed in on her small pout.
Your heart rate rises a little, you can practically hear it in your eardrums. “Damn it,” you thought. She looked so adorable right now you just wanted to kiss her pout away. But you can’t, because you’re supposed to be her best friend.
Daniela swats at your hand that was resting under her ear. “Who’s Stacey? Why does Megan know about her and I don’t,” If she wasn’t mad at you right now, she would definitely laugh at you right now. You looked like you were caught sneaking out of your house in the middle of the night.
You adjusted your glasses and played with the hem of your shirt. “Stacey’s just a friend, I swear!” You gulped a little as Daniela’s frown deepened. “Liar,” she says, putting her hand on her hip. “I didn’t mean to look, but I saw her text. She was practically flirting with you!” You reach for your phone, looking for the text she saw.
“That’s just how she is. She flirts with everyone,” you turned off your phone, placing it inside your pocket. “How does Megan know about her then?” Her foot starts to tap on the floor impatiently. You adjust the neck of your shirt, feeling more intimidated at the Latina’s intense gaze. “She’s played Fortnite with us before,” you calmly say, putting both your hands on her shoulder.
She looks down, avoiding eye contact. You tried to catch her gaze but she seemed to really not want to meet your eyes.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” You gently grab her chin and tilt her upwards. Her eyes finally looked at you, and you saw the slight gloss to it. Your heart breaks a little at the sight, immediately pulling her in. “Is Megan your new best friend?” her voice was so quiet it could almost pass as a whisper.
“This was it, right?” Daniela thought. “The weird feeling that’s been bugging me. I just don’t want Y/n to replace me, right? Yeah, that's it.” Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, trying to make sense of what she’s been feeling lately.
You held the sides of her head gently, pulling her out of her mind. Your thumb starts to caress her cheeks as a way to soothe her. “No, Dani. Of course not,” your thumb quickly wiping away the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. “You’ll always be my…”
My love,
My one and only.
“. . . my best friend,” you force a smile on your face, knowing that you want her to be more than that.
Another song plays from the playlist Lara chose.
Now playing: I Wanna be your Girlfriend by Girl in Red
The both of you stare at each other for a second, and you see the way Daniela's mouth open and close—trying to form words but failing.
“Alright, back to formation!”
The two of you got surprised at the sudden interruption, both your arms leaving each others’ side out of reflex. “Guess that’s my cue to leave,” your voice a little weak as you fixed your stuff. She started fixing herself before joining the other girls. You gave them all a wave goodbye and closed the door.

That night you couldn’t sleep. You kept tossing and turning in your bed, fluffing your pillows, listening to white noise—nothing. You gave up all efforts and decided to get up and drive around. You grabbed your phone, keys, wallet, and a jacket then headed out.
You parked your car in front of a 7/11 and locked the doors. You entered the store, the guy at the cashier nodding at you. There were different selections on the shelves, ‘til you decided on just grabbing a pack of gummies and a can of Mountain Dew. You would’ve gotten a beer, but you’re not really fond of the idea of drinking and driving.
The guy at the front rings your stuff. “That’ll be a dollar and 15 cents.” You raised your eyebrows at the cheap price. The cashier seems to catch onto your surprise and says “We’re having a sale today man. Sick right?” You just smiled as a response, paid for your things and headed back to your car. Just as you sit down, you see your phone light up. You frantically reach for it, hoping it was Daniela.
Megan: Hey big guy, I’m sorry for telling Dani about Stacey. I thought she knew.
Your shoulder dropped slightly, a little disappointed that it wasn’t who you wanted. “It’s fine dude, no worries. It’s not your fault,” A small sigh escapes your lips as your finger hits send. You turn on the radio and roll down the windows a little. The crack and sound of fizz fills the air. You take a sip of your drink and you suddenly hear three notes from a piano.
Dun, dun, dun. . .
Now playing: Need you Now by Lady A
“Great, just great!” You laugh at the absurdity of the timing. Just as you started longing for the presence of a certain curly-haired girl, this song plays. You lean your head back on your seat, closing your eyes as you take in the lyrics of the song.
It’s a quarter after one, I’m all alone and I need you now. . .
You look at the time on the corner of your radio screen, exactly 1:15am. “Holy shit, is the universe messing with me or something?” You let out a small amused laugh and take another sip of Mountain Dew. That’s when it hit you.
The total price of your gummies and soda amounting to a dollar and 15 cents,
Need you Now by Lady A suddenly playing,
That specific line from the song playing at exactly a quarter after one or at 1:15am.
“Its a fucking sign from the universe,” you said out loud, rolling your windows back up and starting your engine.

Inside another room, a soft glow from a phone screen illuminates the space. There lay Daniela in her bed, scrolling through TikTok as she found herself having a hard time falling asleep.
Her thoughts kept bothering her. Why had she acted that way earlier? Why did it bother her so much that you went out with a random girl named Stacey?
And why did you and Megan being that close and being called "Lovebirds" annoy the hell out of her?
It's not like she has the right to stop you from meeting others. In fact, she should’ve been more supportive of you, given that she’s your best friend. But she just can’t imagine you picking up another girl that’s not her.
Hugging someone else the same way you hug her,
Someone else sitting at your passenger seat,
Your hands being intertwined with someone else.
She scrolls to the next video, it's an edit of some random ship to Niki’s “Urs.”
Tryna find where your head is but I'm losing myself in the process. . .
She listens to the lyrics of the song, her finger lightly tapping to the beat on the side of her phone.
. . . But fuck sake I'm already yours. Sad to say I'm already yours, oh.
Her thumb double-taps on the video and scrolls. She suddenly pauses the current video playing on her phone, staring at it for a second before scrolling back to the previous one. There was something about the song that made her scroll back, she just can’t pinpoint it. So she watches it over and over and over again.
Sad to say I’m already yours, oh.
Oh,
Oh.
She suddenly sat up, so fast that she got a little light headed from doing so. Her hand flew over her eyes as it closed, trying to recover from the dizziness she was feeling. Once she felt better, her hand moves from her eyes to her mouth.
“No way,” her voice a little muffled from her hand. She sat there, staring at the wall in front of her trying to process what she'd just realized. That was until she heard the sound of her door bell ring.
Within seconds, her duvet was pulled off her body and she was bolting towards her front door. For some reason, she had a feeling it was you. Hell, she knows it's you. She can’t explain how she knows, she just does.
She opens the door with so much force, it could’ve fallen off its hinges. And there you were, standing behind her front door looking like 10 dogs just chased you down the block.
“Danie–”
“Y/–”
The both of you spoke at the same time, accidentally cutting each other off. You take a deep breath and compose yourself. “Can I come in?” you ask. She steps aside, giving you space to enter.
You went inside, your back facing her. “I’m sorry for coming here unannounced at this time,” you look down at your hand playing with your fingers. “Earlier, at the studio,” your voice cracks a little, trying to find the right words.
“I wasn’t completely honest with what I said.” You finally found the courage to face her. For the first time that night you really looked at her. Her curly hair is a little messy. Her white tank top and blue sleeping shorts make her look simple but breathtaking. And her bare face – gosh, her bare face. She looks so unreal that you just want to kiss her all over her face.
But you can’t, not yet. You step closer to her, taking her hands into yours. “I told you that you will always be my bestfriend—I lied,” your voice, barely above a whisper. “I want you to be mine, Dani.” You look up, trying to stop the tears from falling on your face. “I want you to be mine so badly Daniela, it's insane.” You look back at her, you see tears forming in the corner of her eyes.
“And I know, you probably don’t see me the same,” you let out a short teary laugh. “I know that I’ll only ever be a best friend in your eyes.” A small sniffle echoes through the quiet living room.
“And I accept that I do. Just–”
“Oh my gosh Y/n shut up.”
You stare back at her confused. Then suddenly, you feel a pair of lips on yours. Your body freezes for a second, before you finally process what was happening. You kissed her back, pouring all of your feelings into that kiss. The two of you pulled away for air, your foreheads leaning against each other.
You held onto one another, eyes closed as you savor the moment. “So, does this mean that. . ." Your tone is hesitant. “I like you too, idiot.” Daniela says, teasing you a little. A smile starts to form on your face. “Then does that mean I can kiss you again?” you ask hopefully. “You don’t even have to ask.” The both of you were kissing each other like you’re making up for lost time.
The room was still, except for the two figures standing in the middle. That was until a car with a very loud speaker passed by, a Taylor Swift song making its way inside through the open window in the living room.
Daniela pulled away, giggling as she recognized the song that was playing from the car. “Oh my gosh, was that Mine by Taylor Swift?” You tried to listen to it, then burst out into laughter once you confirmed that it really was Mine by Taylor Swift.
“Well, you know what she says.” You kiss the dimple on her cheek.
“You are the best thing, that’s ever been mine."
- - -
The bed dips as two bodies lay together. Her head was tucked comfortably under your chin, while your hand combs at her hair. You look down and kissed the crown of her head.
"That's so weird," you start. "The songs on the radio have been awfully specific lately." Daniela looks up at you, shifting a little to meet your gaze comfortable. "You're right," she says. "I've been noticing that too." She kisses you again, tasting the remnants of the Mountain Dew you were drinking earlier.
The two of you just lay there, embracing each other and stealing kisses every now and then. "So. . ." Her voice breaking the silence. "Nothing's going on between you and that Stacey?" You shake your head as you say "No, nothing's going on between us." She hums, and you can practically hear the gears turning in her head. "Then what about you and Megan?" She asks, now resting her head on her hand to look straight at you. "Megan?" You tried to stop a laugh from coming out of your mouth when you saw the seriousness on her face. "I am telling you, there is absolutely nothing going on between us." You lean in and kiss the mole near her eyebrow. She still doesn't look convinced. "Then why did Lara call you guys lovebirds?" You purse your lips, trying to think of a reason why Lara would say that because to be honest? You also don't know.
"I don't know, we'll have to ask her on that one." You replied. "Let's go to sleep, yeah? We still have to wake up early." The both of you finally tuck yourselves in and drifted off to sleep.

The next day in Katseye's rehearsal studio, Sophia's phone was connected to the speaker—Ariana Grande's voice accompanying the stretching girls. Daniela's sat on the floor, stretching her legs while giggling at her phone. From the other side of the room, Lara watches her bandmate, a smirk stretching across her face. She makes her way towards the girl, sitting in front of her.
"Who's got you giggling this early in the morning?" Lara pretends to stretch as she asks the girl the question. The girl in front of her looks up, a blush creeping up to her face. "Just Y/n." Daniela replies, her tone a little shy. The Indian girl hums, her face looking like she knows something.
The curly-haired girl didn't miss the look on her face. "What?" the Latina lets out a small laugh as she asks. "Nothing!" Lara flashed her a playful smile as starts to stretch properly. Daniela watches Lara stretching, remembering the question she asked Y/n last night. "Hey," she catches the girl's attention. "Why'd you call Megan and Y/n lovebirds?" She asks curiously.
Just then, the current song playing ends and switches to a different one.
Now playing: Obvious by Ariana Grande
"Girl!" Lara says, laughing at the question as if she expected it. "The both of you obviously had feeling on each other." She sits up and looks at Daniela straight in the eyes. "And by the way you reacted, you practically confirmed I was right." She shook her head.
Daniela's face was evident with surprise. "So you were just teasing us?" She asks. "No girl, I was pushing you to realize your feelings." Lara says softly. Daniela leans back, her arms stretching behind her to support her weight. "Guess your plan worked." They both laughed at the situation.
Megan then walked by, scrolling through TikTok on her phone. The sound of Taylor Swift's "Mastermind" followed her as she passed by the girls sitting on the floor.

.𖥔 ݁ ˖ 𝕾UCH A BAD GIRL
Daniela Avanzini x fem!reader
summary: Y/N’s been busy working with Sophia to figure out the logistics to an upcoming schedule for Katseye. Dani’s feeling a little neglected from how occupied she’s been and decided to play a little game with her girlfriend
warnings: slight!nsfw, suggestive/sexual themes, harsh language, bratty!dani, teasing
Katseye’s lounge in HYBE was a cluttered, cozy haven, where the speakers were always on softly in the background with Lara’s playlist. The smell of coffee lingered in the air, and posters of their albums and plaques of achievements lined the walls. Y/N sat at the small table in the corner, surrounded by scattered notebooks and a calendar, biting the cap of a pen. Across from her, Sophia, leaned forward listening to the staff explain their plans, a furrow of concentration on her brow.

“like you’re such a fucking angel,” you scoffed, rolling your eyes. though, you didn’t bother fighting the grin that spread across your lips at the banter. “drop the saint act, daniela.”
“oh, come on, mami. i’m as pure as they come,” the latina purred, her tongue tracing the corner of her mouth.
she had the phone set on her desk in her room, sporting a pink stussy beanie under the pulled hood of her black zip-up. she sat back into her black swivel chair, her legs spread wide, and a slice of pizza in hand. you sat in manon’s chair beside her, body just out of frame as you leant in close over her shoulder to engage with your eager fans and their comments on live.
“if you’re pure, then i’m the virgin mary.” you whispered, bopping the tip of her nose with your finger.
“you don’t meet the most important requirement to be the ‘virgin’ mary.” she teased. you scoff, shoving her.
she grabbed your wrist lightly, making loud grunts as she fake-gnawed your arm. you squealed, jerking away as daniela let out a loud series of laughter. she had yanked the slice straight from your hand, biting into it. you sat up, clicking your tongue.

A video taken on your phone set on the dashboard was posted on your Instagram story with the caption, “slamming dani’s car door as a prank i forgot i had in my drafts ;)”. Daniela was on her phone, unaware of your actions as you settled into the passenger seat. In a beanie, sporting a neon green and black soccer jersey (yes the fit from futch line’s recent tiktoks), the blonde beside you finally glanced up, giving the camera a skeptical look before glancing at you.
You tried containing your grin, glancing at Daniela’s eyes--fixed between your sly eyes and knowing smirk--on the screen as you fixed the position of the video so both of you were in it.
“Babe, what’re you doing?” Daniela sighed, “What is this?”
[ yes, dani calls the other girls babe too but this feels different ]
You shrugged, “Nothing, I was tryna check how I looked in my camera.” Your hands shot up to fix your hair, teeth sinking into your bottom lip as you kept your giggles in. “You ready to go?”
She nodded, eyebrows still furrowed in thought. She glanced between you and the camera. You grabbed your bag, opening the door as you stepped out. It was obvious she was beginning to question what your phone was set up for, but she didn’t quite get a word in before you weren’t in the car anymore. She set her phone down, poking her head forward to call after you in panic, “Wait, are you just gonna leave your phone here--?”
You slammed the door as hard as you physically could.
Taken aback, Daniela flinched, adjusting the beanie on her head as she did her best to catch your eye through the window. She wagged a finger, gesturing for you to come back into the car with a disapproving glare.

DANI & Y/N FORGETTING THEIR PR TRAINING FOR 14 MINUTES GAY (PART 2)
*Loud technical difficulty transition* Cut to the one year anniversary live, the video titled, “Happy First KATSEYE Day”. Daniela and Y/N were sitting where Sophia and Lara were in that video. As Manon tried to explain her answer to a question Yoonchae asked, the camera seemed much more interested in a certain duo than their centre.
“No, because I know for a fact Lara takes the longest to get ready. Girlie has a hair and fit routine that takes so much longer than an hour,” Manon practically yelled, “No—Sophia, stop! Trust, Lara is the one who takes the longest.”

DANI & Y/N ROLLING W THE LGBT FOR 11 MINUTES GAY (FT. THE KATZ BEING OVER THEIR GAY SHYT)
*Loud technical difficulty transition* Video of Katseye doing the gingerbread house competition. Megan and Yoonchae are fighting over decorating the walls while Dani and Lara are scheming about stealing the maknaes’ strawberries. Sophia, Y/N and Manon—as the older line—were asked to do their house on a similar set next door.
“No, because why is Yoonchae such a snitch,” Dani joked, licking the frosting from her fingers as Lara cackled with the front of their house clutched between her fingers. “I swear, this girl was definitely a teacher’s pet growing up in school.”

47. much emotions
warnings: drinking, ppl get drunk not yn this time tho
conan, olivia and yn were all squished into the back of an uber, despite the fact that yn had argued for the fact that he wouldn't be drinking. olivia had muttered something about him not coming home with them before conan quickly changed the topic. yn didn't pay them much mind, as they were always like this, muttering about things then letting yn into the conversation when they knew he'd actually find it interesting.
the uber dropped them off at a small house and yn was momentarily confused until he noticed the bright red mustang parked closest to the door. the three of them climbed out of the car and thanked the driver.
they hadn't even stepped into the driveway before dani swung the door open. "guys!" she called, brushing her hair out of her face. "come in come in." she made an 'come here' gesture. olivia was the first to break from the trio as she sped walked towards the door, catching both of the boys as she passed them. they filed through the door single file, making sure to take off their shoes. olivia said something about going to see sophia while conan said he was going to look for lara. leaving yn with dani. "they left fast." dani muttered closing the door behind yn and looking up at him. "how did midterms go?" she asked softly, taking his jacket from him.
he hummed and adjusted his attack on titan graphic t, "was good, average grade of about 85%." he supplied, following dani through the house towards where the rest of the party was. "it's actually lowkey this time." he joked, grabbing on of what he assumed was his blue gatorade.
dani laughed, walking past lara and conan. when yn passed them, lara flashed the boy a smile then a smirk. yn shook his head playfully and continued to follow the latina. "it was jonah's fault last time and he wasn't." dani commented with a laugh.
yn nodded, rounding the corner out of the kitchen into the living room where everyone else was sat, yoonchae and megan both waved at him enthusiastically and he returned the favour. it didn't take long for dani and yn to settle on the second love seat, dani sat down first and patted beside her, giving yn a sign. he sat down on the opposite side of the couch, opening his gatorade. then dani's legs landed across his lap and he thought for a moment. with a soft sigh he placed his hands on her calves and pulled them closer to his body. "i need to remember to thank mei for the blue gatorade."
dani looked at him for a moment. " that was me." she said softly, as if she was showing something important to her.
yn let his eyes move over toward hers. "you remembered?" he asked softly, his voice cracking softly.
dani nodded, it was small and almost unnoticeable but yn was good at noticing those things about dani. he carefully rubbed her thigh in a soothing manner, purposefully ignoring the blush that flushed dani's face and whatever heat had taken over his own.
the two of them sat in that odd in between worlds for a few minutes, or maybe it was an hour. yn wasn't sure, all he remember is the way dani would light up when he referred back in her choreo, as if she thought he hadn't been listening. or the way her eyes would drift from his when he began to talk about comic books. he remembered the way her honey eyes would sparkle, and he made sure to count the freckles covering the bridge of her nose. yn made sure to memorize the details that had brought him comfort while he'd been uncomfortable these last few months.
it was yoonchae who burst said bubble. she'd thrown a pillow in between them and laughed so loudly when it just barely missed yn's head. dani whipped her head around in response and opened her mouth to say something before she stopped. the anger that had formed quickly, fled from her face just as fast.
"we're playing truth or dare, come on love birds join us." megan sang slightly.
dani glanced at yn then back at the group. then suddenly yn was pushing her legs off of his carefully. "it can't hurt." he muttered as he offered her his hand.
she took it and yn felt that comfort he'd felt all those months ago at that first party again. he looked at the group with a small smile, things had certainly changed but definitely for the better.
yn and dani settled between lara and manon, lara on yn's side and manon on dani's. the first few rounds were normal, someone had dared megan to prank call mateo (whoever that was), to which sophia shut it down, then lara forced sophia to recount when she first fell in love with mateo (sophia's boyfriend if yn had any deductive reasoning). then manon had the bottle spun to dani.
"truth or dare." manon wiggled her eyebrows and dani groaned, leaning more towards yn who automatically adjusted the way he was sitting so she could lean against him properly.
"dare.." dani let out slowly.
manon glanced around the room and let a wicked grin cross over her face. "sit on yn's lap." she snickered out.
dani didn't respond for a moment, she glanced at yn who just gave her a small smile. eventually she closed the gap and sat on the edge of his thigh stiffly. after a moment or two, yn got uncomfortable so he gripped her waist, and pulled her into the middle of his lap. he then wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder.
the rest of the party let out soft aws and dani settled into her new seat.
the game of truth or dare continued for a while longer, dani never moved from her spot on yn's lap and yn never asked her to move, because honestly the boy was comfortable.
then it was megan's turn and her spin of the bottle landed on yn. the younger girl didn't even think about it before she spoke. "truth or dare."
yn hesitated, he could see that megan wanted dare, she wanted him to do whatever she had in her brain and he honestly was willing to let her get her way. "dare meiyok."
yoonchae giggled, "oooooh" she let out while softly hitting megan out of excitement.
megan joined in the giggling before making eye contact with dani. "yn give dani a kiss." yn's brain short circuited momentarily. "on the lips."
dani was about to launch into a strongly worded speech about how that was pushing a boundary before yn grabbed her jaw and angled her face towards his.
then he kissed her, softly and squarely on the lips.
he pulled away after a moment but didn't take his eyes off of dani who still hadn't opened her eyes. in that moment, everything in yn's heart and brain clicked into place. he liked dani, more than just friends, more like he wanted to wake up beside her each day and wanted to hear all about the annoying freshman who didn't understand why dani was in charge yet. yn wanted it all, he wanted the full boyfriend package.
while yn was making that decision, dani glared at megan and forced herself out of yn's grip. yn was brought back when he felt dani leaving his lap. he watched her storm out to the patio and without thinking, the boy was scrambling to his feet. he didn't even speak to the rest of the group just followed dani into the cold night.
dani didn't react when he opened the door, nor did she when he closed it behind them. he moved to stand beside her, deciding that dani could speak if she wanted to but yn wasn't going to force her.
"they know how i feel about you." dani muttered, playing with a strand of her hair. "they know what that would have done to me. megan still did it. she knows you don't feel the same way."
"jonah says you don't like roses because you think their cliche."
"right now is not the time to try and get me back with jonah." dani said coldly.
"he made a point of tell me to get you those things when we went out. told me to show interest in your car and to pay attention to your choreo. it all seemed like very simple ways to get a girl to notice you but then i realized what he was doing."
dani looked at yn oddly. "what?"
"it's the small things, not the big gestures that get someone to love you. it's the noticing the small things and working with them. for example," yn stepped towards dani. "you like to ballroom dance more than any other dance form because it reminds you of your parents. you speak spanish to yourself in the mirror so you don't forget it and get really excited when someone speaks even a miniscule of it. you feel very proud of your red mustang because it was the first big purchase you made."
he took another step forwards and gestured over his shoulder, towards the inside of the house. "those girls in there are the closest things to sibling you've ever had and you would do anything for them. you act scary but you're actually one of the sweetest people anyone's ever met." he took another step forwards and pulled dani into a hug. "should i go on?" he asked softly teasing the latina. he feels her shake her head against his chest.
"jonah saw something i didn't, he saw the way i looked for you in every school mandated event, the way i looked at you when i was near you." he moved his hands from her hips to her jaw, lifting her face up to look at him. "i found comfort in you when opaline was tearing everything away. i thought of you when she stood too close. god, everyone except me could see it and for that i'm sorry. but i'm here now, and if you'd allow me, i'd love to give you a proper kiss."
dani had started to cry, she let out a wet 'yeah' as she wrapped her arms around yn's neck. he happily pulled her in and kissed her for a second time that night. it lasted longer and it was somehow softer than the one from earlier but yn nor dani cared.
they also didn't care that they could hear their friends cheering just inside the glass sliding door.
