probably going to be my last @femslashgelion drawing this year, back in my normal digital style because i couldn't make this work traditionally :') here's maya comforting ritsuko as she opens up to her about everything that's been happening to her. i feel so sad for ritsuko, she's literally never been in a safe relationship and i imagine maya wants to help her but ritsuko doesn't feel like she can accept help because she thinks she's too far gone (she might be, but that doesn't mean maya isn't going to try)

It's almost funny, in a way. She’d always kinda had it in the back of her mind that Reinhardt was going to outlive her. Just seemed par for the course for ghouls like him. What she’d do when he kicked the bucket isn’t something Asuka had ever given much thought to.

She wonders why she ever would’ve had to think about it. Like she’d have to rehearse mourning.

Whatever she’s feeling now, calling it “mourning” would be a stretch and a half. It’s not what she felt in the wake of finding Mom’s body, not even in the same ballpark. That was mourning. She’s not sure what she’s supposed to call this. No cherished childhood memories spring to mind. Are there any that could? No tearful failure to fathom life without him. Is it really gonna be much different?

Nothing. She feels nothing.

She wonders if it’s okay to feel nothing.

Rei was so focused on getting close & snuggly she forgot about gravity. She was soon reminded.
