Felix had a knack for bringing sunshine. No matter her mood, it always seemed to improve around him, though this was not something he had ever had to experience from the typically cheerful demigoddess. "Your place?" She asked, and a smile pulled on her lips, fleeting but genuine. She had never had a chance to stop by his, and if so, it was merely to drop off something to him. To finally see his set up, she could not wait. "I shall eat all the bacons. Not Ms. Piggy for nothing."
Without him, there would have been no way she would have made it safely home. Everything was a bit too dizzy to walk in a straight line at the moment, and his grip on her was the only thing truly keeping her stable. But, she was trying her best to manage in the situation. She was at least aware of her drunkenness. That was not a normal feat for her. While a sober Davina would have still just thought it was her friend being kind, she was far too drunk to ponder too long on it. "You are handsome too, Mr. superstar." She responds genuinely. The two were blessed that their godly blood had granted them some superior appearances, and she had no problem letting her friend know that too.
When he asked her who, she mumbled out a bitter 'Haoyu'. The demigoddess hoped that the demigod was doing well wherever he went, but having developed quite the crush, nothing was more depressing than realizing the apartment next to hers was now bare. Frowning at his words, she knew that Felix was right, even if it was hard to follow that line of reasoning right now. Davina got into the car with his help, stumbling to buckle herself up as Felix went to the other side of the car to get in.
Once Felix seemed settled in his position, the demigoddess turned slightly to face him. "I feel silly. You know?" She rambled off in a slurry of words. "He not even my boyfriend. Why do I feel so crappy? Maybe, this is karma?" She wondered in her drunken stumble. Was this what she got for leaving that man at the alter? A series of bad luck? "I'm being a baby. I'm sorry." She complained in a pout, batting her eyes as she tried to stop herself from tearing up. Felix beside her was comforting, but she still did feel quite down about this still. Slipping a hand toward him, she loosely grabbed onto his sleeve. "Thanks for getting me."
"Yeah sure. My place," he said with a shrug. "You've seen it tons of times on stream, so like, might as well check out the real deal, right?" It wasn't until after he said it that Felix realized what taking her back to his place might imply and he laughed at himself. "I swear, I sweeeeeeaaaarr upon my love of General Leia Organa, I just wanna make you some bomb-ass bacon pancakes. Scout's honor." To the last bit, he lifted his free hand to give the three-fingered salute, bona fide Eagle Scout that he was, to indicate he meant absolutely no 'funny business' by this invitation. But he also didn't feel completely comfortable with the idea of just dropping her off at home and leaving her there either. He could be a totally responsible chaperone, damnit!
When she went along with his idea, however, even tying in her silly online alias, he couldn't help but laugh that familiar hyena cackle. "Does that make you a cannibal?" he chortled as he helped her into the passenger seat. Another little chuckle escaped, though this time with just a touch of shyness when at the compliment to his looks. "It's the dimples," he assured her with a playful wink. Indeed, the island was full of absolutely beautiful people--'really, really ridiculously good-looking,' he had to admit--but he knew that those damned dimples gave him an adorable advantage.
But alas, the light-heartedness did not last as the looming question of just who had left brought about the answer. "Ahhhh…" he replied softly to the name as he ensured she was properly belted in. He hoped that, in time, she would come to believe herself to be the wonderful person she was, that she didn't need someone else to define her worth, but that was completely up to her and it was her own journey to experience, one that he could only provide support for.
Once he was fastened in the driver's seat, he turned the ignition, Penny's engine purring seamlessly, audio system automatically syncing to his phone where it had previously been, a lofi version of Tifa's theme from Final Fantasy 7 playing at a low volume…low enough for him to hear her comment about feeling silly. "Why?" he asked as he drove them from the parking lot, slow and careful, keeping his eyes on the road of course, but also not wanting to take turns too fast lest she feel sick.
"Nah, I don't think that's silly, but it's okay to feel crappy. I know if someone I really liked suddenly left without saying anything, I'd be pretty bummed out, too," he admitted with a slow nod. "I dunno why you think it's karma, though," the chatty demigod continued. Despite graduating with honors, he wasn't always the most clever in the room and therefore didn't make the connection between Haoyu's sudden departure and her prior stint as a runaway bride. "The way I see it? Haoyu's got some adventures to go on, probably gonna go find himself. I mean, I barely knew him, but he seemed like the kinda guy to say 'fuck karma' anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it to much. And hey, if it is karma, then maybe it did you a favor? There's definitely someone out there who better complements your whole you-ness because the one for you definitely won't just willingly up and leave an amazing person like you without saying something. I promise you that."
He gave her a quick side glance with a warm smile before returning his attention to the road, taking note of those tears in her eyes. "Maybe with him gone, you'll see someone new or maybe someone you didn't notice before because you were distracted?" He lifted one hand from the wheel to lightly pat the back of her palm as it grasped his sleeve, then returned to grasping the wheel like a responsible driver. "Any time," he said to her thanks. "That's what friends are for, right? Designated drivers and midnight munchies."
Prince's lips rose slightly at the corners. He was very aware that his name was a bit of an unconventional one. Most nicknames were in his culture. At the very least, he had one that was at least a little bit normal and not like an every day item or something like that. He loved the unique nature of his homeland though.
But, thoughts aside, he liked hearing the different takes about it and his boss' play on it was a fun one.
He nodded as the other responded, smiling a little more with the impression he was using as he relaxed slightly with the assurances.
"I just wanted to be sure, I've been winning stuff from the machines for the customers and I didn't like... want to be impacting the arcade's funds or anything by doing that. Businesses and all that? Just in case. I'm guessing you've been stocking prizes though?" He added, nodding to the plushy the other had been 'speaking' through.
Felix never missed an opportunity to point out (and play with) the more unique names; so if he could bolster someone's morale and compliment their name by way of putting his own spin on it, then he would! He knew it made him feel good when others did it to him--loved it best when they referenced that cartoon cat at his bag of tricks; in fact, he completely leaned into that side of his name and happily played along.
When Prince voiced concerns for impacting the arcade's finances, the son of Benzaiten scoffed and waved his hand (or rather, the plush's hand) dismissively. "Pfft! As long as you don't, like, go completely ham with it and limit one prize per person, it's completely fine!" he insisted, leaning against the claw machine and having the stuffed toy cat give it a good thwack.
Or at least as good of a thwack as a plush paw could give it.
"So are ya gonna show us whatcha got or not?" he asked in the cartoonish voice, pretending yet again to be the character. "Can ya get mmmmmmmeeeeeeee hmmm...that Meowth looks like fun!" he indicated, pointing to the stuffed Pokemon in the top left of the toy pile.

Davina lingered in his embrace. She had not seen her friend in some time, so she was rather pleased to be reunited with him. However, more than simple greetings, she did quite need him. She could feel her balance was off, and the room seemed to spin as long as she kept her eyes open. Until he dared to move her, they stayed closed as she clung to his form. So, his tips to the bartender went unnoticed, not that she would ever dare complain about an action such as that.
Amused, she definitely was drunger, though she had never heard the concoction of words before. It was one of the parts of this experienced she did hope that she remembered, but she did not think she was at that level of forgetting tonight. Though she thought that every time something like this happened. "Pancakes sound yummy. Bacon greasy. Chocolate milk, sweet. Bubbles fun." She responds, mutters of words disappearing as the loud music tuned out her struggled speech. She just knew that she was ready to go home and be more comfortable. Davina felt comfortable around Felix, and she did not mind more time with him.
Passing her personal items, her phone, keys, and wallet, to Felix, she accepted his support as they made their way out to the parking lot and to Penny. Without it, she would have failed this walk. As they existed the bar, his compliment drew a surprised look from her, now away from all the music. She could hear him better, and he would be able to manage her speech better too. "You are a good friend for trying to make me feel better." Davina leaned into his hold, getting a step closer to him. In a somewhat confusing complaint, the demigoddess let out another sigh. "No point in looking pretty. He left the island."
"Swirly straws. Hella rad." He chuckled at her comments. So it sounded like greasy bacon pancakes and chocolate milk would be on the menu. "My place, then. I got the good bacon, too. Hickory-smoked shit. And hey! You finally get to see my kitchen in person. And partake in a dish made personally by Chef Felix~" he teased with a playful wink as he guided her to the door. Truthfully, he had no issues with heavily supporting her throughout their journey from point A to point B.
Oddly enough, he was somewhat reminded of his college days--though truthfully, those days weren't too long ago, just a few years, but he did have vivid memories of helping many-a-drunken-party-goer to their waiting chariots (Ubers/Lyfts/taxis, designated drivers, bus stops, etc.) back then and, yes, even accompanying them on their ride...usually to a late night diner to load up on greasy and carby foods.
Using his key fob, he pressed the button which unlocked Penny with a tell-tale beep-beep as he helped her to the door. "Heeeeeyyyyy...I calls 'em like a sees 'em," he assured her; it wasn't just a compliment to make her feel better, but he had honestly meant it. Though as she protest and told him there was no point in doing so, he frowned a bit. Wait. No point in looking pretty? Because...he left the island? "Wait, who?" Did she mean Haoyu?
"Heeeeeyyyyy nooooowwww...there's no need for that," he said as they approached the car. "I get that it feels kinda crappy, but you were pretty before you met him and you're for damn sure gonna be just as if not MORE gorgeous without him. So for right now, the only person you gotta be pretty for is yourself, okay?" he said, giving her a light side squeeze before he opened the car door for her. "In we go..."
Davina did not think to ask anyone else for help. Whether this was a sign of trust that Felix would come to her aid or because she was too drunk to think of anyone else, her time waiting for him was spent in a struggled attempt to pay for her drinks while she waiting patiently for help. After finally finding the right card to the right bartender and paying the right amount(an ordeal in itself), the demigoddess had just signed the slip and passed a tip to them minutes before her friend came to her side.
Pulled to attention, Davina shifted her gaze over to Felix. A smile pulled on her lips at the sight of him. Even though she had not been in her best headspace, her chaotic friend always seemed to brighten her mood just by being there. Unable to notice the concern in his gaze, she did not respond immediately. Instead, Davina stumbled off of the chair so that she could give her friend a hug. Arms fumbled to land snugly around his waist as she rested her forehead against his shoulder. The demigoddess sighed loud enough to be heard over the music.
Those moments of fleeting joy died down rather fast. Never one to hide anything from Felix, or at least not on purpose, the demigoddess finally answered his question. "I'm sad." The demigoddess barely coherently slurred. "And drunk. Hungry too... Mostly drunk..."
At least he got a smile out of her, but ohhhhh boy, she looked quite a bit sloshed; he could see now why her text message had been riddled with typos. She hadn't been kidding when she mentioned she was drunk; but of course, Felix was a great friend, loyal to the absolute core, and if she needed him, then he would not hesitate to come to her aid.
"Whoa--" he started when he watched her stumble off the chair, but was silenced when her arms caught him around the waist and she set to just hold him like that with her forehead on his shoulder, leaving him with his arms hovering in air for a moment as she sighed. Okay. All right. He didn't mind hugs at all, obviously, and considered himself a VERY good hugger--but there was just something about being hugged by a drunk woman who he still wasn't quite sure how she felt about him that made those little swirly doubts stir in the back of his head; he pushed them aside, though, because she had admitted to being sad. Oh no. Why was she sad?
Maybe not the best place to inquire, though; in fact, a pretty lady in this rough-and-tumble rock bar was bound to get a lot of attention, especially with how drunk she was; good thing she had Felix there! Dr. Feelgood's was a place he had frequented quite a bit since arriving on the island--not really the clubbing type, he was very much a Detroit kid so a bar like this one was far more his style (and he'd already developed somewhat of a reputation for hustlin' pool).
He returned her embrace, folding his arms around her and rubbing her back. "Oh no...not the drunger!" he chimed, his knack for combining words carrying over in that moment as he blended both 'drunk' and 'hunger' together. "Lucky for us, I know a great cure for that. And might help the sads, too. How about some bacon pancakes? With chocolate milk? I'll even break out the swirly straws so you can blow bubbles in it," he said with a smile, giving the bartender a wink as he sneaked the man a couple bills in an appreciative tip for keeping an eye on her until he arrived. 'Thanks. I got this' he mouthed to the bartender with a thumbs up, carefully guiding her away from the counter while keeping an arm around her shoulders and making sure she had her personal items; hell, he'd even hold on to those for her, tucking them in the front pouch of his hoodie if she wanted. "Not for nothin', but you look really pretty tonight. Not that you don't always look pretty, but yeah," he complimented as he helped her to the parking lot.
One Too Many

Davina had been rather disappointed when she realized a certain someone had left. While nothing other than some flirting had ever happened, Davina was one to fall in crush very fast with the right person, and after weeks of devoting much daydreaming to them, their disappearance left her with the need to keep the sad thoughts off her mind. So, the demigoddess had taken to the club, dressed up and dolled up in hopes that maybe someone would take it off her mind.
Alcohol seemed to be the only thing to entertain her. While she had been good lately with her alcohol consumption, the demigoddess allowed herself to wallow in self-pity, aided with the several glasses of sweet and fruity that the bartender had made her. However, once she went felt the effects of her drinks, she knew that she was not in the place to go home safely.
Pulling out her phone, Felix was the first person she thought of, and she struggled to send him a message. Barely hitting send, she could only hope that it would make sense to him. "Drnk. Dr. Flgood. Come?"
His live streams had gone a bit longer than usual--after all, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth had only been out a week and he had been practically playing it every single day, streaming every second of it so his followers could join along for the ride and experience the joy of this masterpiece with him.
Felix had been in the process of just musing with chat about which side quest to do next when his text alert went off with Navi's iconic "HEY! LISTEN!"
"One second, chat," he said with a chuckle, knowing that the customized alert was for the indominable Miss Piggy. Reading the message silently to himself, Felix nodded and typed a quick message back. Wrapping up. Be there in 10. Tucking the phone into the back pocket of his faded jeans, he returned his attention to the stream and called it for the night--it was a good place to stop anyway; he'd already streamed way past his usual time so they would pick this up again tomorrow! After a quick raid-out to another streamer's broadcast, he quickly signed out and stepped into his usual red Chuck Taylor hightops and pulled on his black Star Wars X-wing hoodie over his simple white tee with the iconic FF7 meteor image screened across the chest. One quick drive with Penny later, and he was sneaking through the doors of Dr. Feelgood's on the lookout for the familiar face.
And when he found her, he suppressed a look of sympathy toward her obviously inebriated state and instead gave her a look of concern and empathy. "Heeeeeeeyyyyy..." he started gently, resting a hand on her shoulder. "You okay there, friendo?" Heck, she hadn't even been this plastered at the New Year feast and honestly, he was a little more than worried about her even staying here by herself, let alone making the trek home on her own.
"....fashion. wow." ryul said dryly as he squinted at felix, watching him as he struck a vogue pose, folding his arms as he stared back for a solid beat, clearly unimpressed with his friend's explanation. "and you thought that i'd be the type to take that for an impressive answer."
"that--is clearly not fashion." he sniffed, "it's not something that i...fancy." he tried to be as disdainful as he could possibly be, even with the corners of his lips curving upwards in a tiny grin. he shook his head as felix playfully laughed. "either way, it suits you."
he allowed that praise with a slight tilt of his head, gesturing towards felix's lanky body.
"and since you did spoil spiderman for me, i guess i'll be taking it right off our movie nights list." he shoved his hands in his pockets, mirroring felix's slight bounce as he moved round the counter and a little closer to his friend, reaching out to pat felix lightly upon the shoulder.
"well done for that. i guess." he smirked. "anyway, tell me more about this store of yours. what do you intend to do with it?" he peered around the counter, bending left and right as he strained to glance a little further back into the little store. "i see games around. and toys." he nodded slightly, rather impressed. "a gaming store? arcade store?" he caught his tongue lightly between his teeth as he hummed thoughtfully. "ever thought of installing something like...i dunno, capsule pods or something? like the ones we saw in japan that they had. those that allow you to stay overnight just to play games or something?"
"Impressive? Nah. Honest? Yes!" he said with an enthusiastic point skyward--because Felix was always honest. Sure, he could be silly at times--which was often, to be quite frank--but he was very much always truthful.
"You--clearly don't understand fashion!" he proclaimed with a flip of on of the Tigger arms over his shoulder like he was tossing his hair; however, this stubbornness was quickly faded into a look of contemplation as he touched his chin. "Come to think of it, I don't understand fashion." A pause as his brows knit together in further concentration. "Does ANYONE ever truly understand fashion?" A beat later, his expression returned to normal as he dropped his hands with a shrug, tucking his hands in the little mitts of Tigger's 'arms'. "Eh, it's all relative anyway."
Even the tiniest grin from Ryul was considered a win in his book, playfully waving his hands in the mitts when told the look suited him. It was the little things that brought Felix genuine joy.
"Aww, man," he huffed at being told they had one less movie on their list, pouting as he was given a consoling pat to his shoulder. "That's fine. I have, like, ten more to take its place. And, like, five different series on Disney+ to add to the mix." Honestly, there were so many Marvel series now that it was difficult to keep track of everything at this point.
As for Galaxy Games, though--when Ryul asked about it, Felix's eyes lit up with excitement and joy, bouncing on his toes again. "Uh uh, uh uh! Kinda both, kinda not. Definitely an arcade! And a bowling alley! C'mon, c'mon, I'll show you!" And with that, he took his friend by the elbow to guide him excitedly from around the counter to show him the rest of the place, starting first with the games floor. "Games are this way...bowling alley's to the right, with a snack bar--I'll show you in a bit--but upstairs are the private gaming rooms with VR sets...and there's even a couple of quiet rooms for tabletops."
Capsule pods? "You know, I thought about that. But capsule hotels are kind of their own thing and I could have made the space for it, I guess, but then I would have less space for other things. But if I could find the staff willing to stay overnight...and maybe someone who specializes in spatial magic that can pull a TARDIS on a room to make it way bigger on the inside, then yeah, I could do something like that. Something to consider in the future definitely."

ZZJ Douyin Update 2022/04/26.
Contrary to Felix, Taavi had seen his deal of kids at the bakery. Stopping by to buy snacks after school or coming with their parents or guardians to order birthday cakes. He loved to see their little happy faces and always made sure to bake the prettiest things for them. So he was glad they had new activities to be excited about.
It was always raining when Taavi was happy. At least, his powers weren't strong enough (yet ?) to work indoors. That would be quite annoying, especially in a pace with so much electronics as Galaxy Games. The baker was quite glad to not be a business owner, allowed to take days off and holidays however he saw fit. He wouldn't like not being able to spend time with his friends. And hopefully, Felix was going to be a good one soon.
Some kids were now looking at their exchange, some amused, some with the funniest judgemental look Taavi had ever seen. But all jumped when there was a big lightning as the young man bursted in laughter again. "Okay, you're quite pretty for a troll ! Unless you want me to call you Gollum ?" He winked and grinned as Felix took the cookies.
"I guess so ? Maybe a bit more buttery and chewy ? I hope you'll like them anyway and that you won't be disappointed if they're your favorite." The Mayan soon had his answer anyway, as Felix commented on the cookies's cuteness before shoving one in his mouth. He always felt immesently glad when someone seemed to like his baking and cooking and it seemed to be a success once more !
Apparently, Taavi hadn't been able to stop laughing since meeting Felix. He was so different than Seungmin, the perfect opposite in fact. It would be funny if the two of them came to meet one day. "I made them at home. We had some at the shop during the holidays season though. We try to have new kinds every couple of days but you can ask me if you want something special" he answered, smiling once more.
Maybe someday Felix would make the correlation between rain and Taavi's happiness, but for now, he was blissfully oblivious. They lived on an island of gods and demigods, so the sudden drizzle could be from any number of things! Goodness, this had to be confusing at times, though. But rather than dwell on the complex ecosystem of Mount Phoenix, Felix remained a grinning fool in the presence of this super nice baker who welcomed him with COOKIES! Which was totally one of the best ways he could have ever been welcomed, honestly.
When told that he was pretty for a troll, Felix tossed an imaginary lock of hair over his shoulder. "Thaaaaaanks~, it's all thanks to the rich minerals in the daily mudbaths," he joked before becoming completely enamored with these delicious (and adorable) kitty cookies. Jesus fucking Christ, why were these so GOOD?!
After shoving another two cookies in his mouth and groaning with approval at the taste, he spoke while chewing. "Is this your magic? That you bake things that are fucking incredible? Or is that just something you're really, really good at? Because damn, man, these cookies are lit!" Seriously, between Angela and Taavi, Mount Phoenix was about to have a sugared-up caffeinated chaotic happy cat among their ranks.
"I better stop..." he muttered to himself as he plucked out two more cookies, but ended up getting a third before closing the bag and sneaking it under the counter for later. "Oh hey! Lemme show you around! Games are on me, of course, if you wanna play." It was the least he could do for being spoiled with the sweet treats!
Angela's eyes widened slightly at the jovial man before him. Though, he fit the atmosphere, and it was rather cute, his actions. Angela did not know about anything game related. However, all the lights, noises, and screams from some of the customers already playing seemed to peak Siwoo's attention. He had a bounce in his step, quickly watching looking around the arcade to take in everything. Angela could already tell how badly he wanted to play.
With a smile, Angela quietly laughed. However, Siwoo was quick to let go of her hand. Moving her eyes to him, the child grabbed the heavy basket from his mother, carrying it over to the demigod. Angela took a second to note the strength of the child, likening it one of his first few displays of something related to his powers. Siwoo, very excitedly, offered the basket to the man. "Here!" He exclaims with a wide grin. And, Angela quickly spoke up to add to her son's motions. "Felix, congratulations on opening your business. My name is Angela, and this is Siwoo. I run The Flower Mill. It's a coffee shop in the posh district. I overheard you opened your business, and I wanted to make sure you felt welcomed."
Sure, he looked rather silly and young and perhaps not someone that others would expect to be a responsible adult owning a popular business--but at the same time, he very much did fit the description of an eccentric business owner. Perhaps he leaned more toward the Wonka-esque sort of eccentricity when it came to managers, but he was harmless, really. (There would be no drowning of children in chocolate rivers here! Though honestly, was that really so horrible a fate? Let's be real here.)
Oh, but what was this? The young gentleman was giving him the basket the woman had? "Oh!" he said as the boy approached with a 'here', then Felix proceeded to act as though the basket was actually pretty heavy, straining a bit and making groaning vocalizations as he moved to set the gift on the counter. "Ooooooo boy, whew," he breathed with a sigh of relief. "Wow, you're strong. You just lifted that up just like that?" Clearly, Felix spoke fluent kid.
A jovial laugh bubbled from his lips when the woman explained herself. "Thanks. It's a pleasure to meet you both. And this is very, very nice. Thank you soooooo much!" he said with a grin. "Wow! This looks great! Especially this!" he proclaimed as he pulled the scarf from the basket of goodies, wrapping it around his neck expertly. "At last. I have acquired the scarf of friendship. My ensemble is nearly complete," he announced with a pose of his fists upon his hips, puffing out his chest. "Anyway!" he said, breaking character and returning to his more casual self. "Since you guys are here, how about I show you around? And if you see something you wanna play, just lemme know. Least I could do for such an amazing welcome!"
The way he felt himself slowly recharge from his surroundings would always fascinate him as it felt like one could sense his cell regenerating faster. While it wasn't the usual feel of energy flowing into him, he would describe it with someone charging a phone with a incorrect charger and yet it works. That was what Liu Wei felt currently as his skin took on a much healthier glow than it had a few minutes ago - the stress of university eased off his features like a mask. If he landed the job, there he was sure his overall health would improve and thus powering through university became less of a hassle. Perfect.
As he listened to Felix speak, his animated friendly nature a stark contrast to his and so bubbly the slender man felt like he was looking directly at the sun. However whenever you see such a shiny beacon of positivity, it was hard to turn ones gaze away towards the usual mundane darkness one knew so well. Yet, what made him a bit on edge was how openly this man took in his stormy grey eyes with no disgust or judgement - was this man sane or simply incredibly truthfully friendly? Was his maybe new boss an actually accepting man with no judgement towards him? Or was this actually normality and he had simply as a growing child been faced with coldness from humans, who had darkness in their soul? Liu Weis head swam with questions, one he would find answers to later.
"Make sure my current step father loses everything," he spoke with such a deadpan way one couldn't say if he was being serious or joking. The slender males monotone tone was ideal for this as one could never say he didn't speak his true intentions out into the world - he did, most didn't believe him. "Additionally I find the field of business with its chaotic twists and turns fascinating, along with the mathematical side to it. Nothing is decided without going through the numbers, the projections and what is ones own win. Business is a logic problem with a lot of variants and no one answer, but several that kick off even more events."
As he handed over his resume and started to move towards the office, Liu Wei took in the last bits of energy he could before the door would fall shut behind him. "Liu Wei is perfectly fine," he replied and slowly moved to take a seat, only actually doing so once Felix had not to seem rude. Aware of how stiff he seemed, it was born from years in boarding schools and a cold home, leaving him a bit unsure about his new surroundings. "Mandarin, Cantonese, English and French." Hoping not needing to explain why, Liu Wei was still ready to explain if asked and giving speaking examples.
"I've worked summer jobs since I have been fifteen, which would probably qualify me by now as a responsible adult although it is an odd concept. Legally, I am an adult, but responsible is a word to vague to tack onto it and expect some sort of measurable result," he replied, knowing his resume brought out the selection of summer jobs and the current one at the cafe. Additionally his volunteer work in high school days, which quite honestly he did mostly to make sure he could get into whatever university. To seem like he cared, when so many places he worked at the people there themselves showed they cared more about how to looked rather than their deeds.
The chair was comfortable, but not too much as Liu Wei did not lean back as his back was stick straight and one leg swung over the other. "I am interested as it would be more suited to my nature and less focused on my looks. My current work place is a pleasant well maintained establishment into which I fit, but do not feel like I belong beyond it. Coffee is not as deep of a subject some of my university colleagues make it seem," he responded finally, eyes drifting over the office and making sure never gazing directly into Felix own pair. "Games are an extension of people in ways they can't be in real life. I am sure I will find it interesting to learn."
The differences were subtle, but Felix just wrote it off as a trick of the light. Or maybe it was just the feeling of being around people having a good time? Or the prospect of fun? Or maybe the excitement of getting a new job? Felix didn't know what it was that made this fellow seem a bit different--in a positive way--from when he first entered the arcade, but he wasn't complaining. Half the time, he expected his lucky aura to put people at ease anyway.
Whatever the case, the son of Benzaiten was his usual bright and chatty self, maintaining eye contact when it was given but not forcing it when it was taken away; but no, no he didn't look away or give any sort of indication that it made him uncomfortable--because it didn't, not in the slightest. However, it was clear to him through this brief interaction thus far just how different they were; Felix, being so animated and expressive and Liu Wei was…well…not. And that was perfectly okay! He'd met all sorts throughout his travels and the extroverted Felix was generally pretty good with adjusting his intensity--usually. The reality of it was, however, that Felix Durant was genuinely friendly and accepting. Not that Liu Wei knew that about him yet--or really anything about him, to be honest--but perhaps in time they would come to learn a lot about one another. But was Felix's behavior normal? Not really; no, not every person was as openly friendly and accepting as he was--but then, every person was different, and it was safe to say there were plenty more people with sunny personalities out there in the world. Hell, there were even several on this island.
For now, though, Felix remained oblivious to the thoughts of his company.
However, he became slightly more privy to those thoughts when the question regarding the guy's motives toward obtaining a business degree elicited an unexpected response. There was a lot to unpack in that answer--and Felix was by no means a psychiatrist nor a behavioral analyst--but he knew there was a story there. But again, he also knew that was not exactly appropriate for a potential employer to bring up in an interview. "A'ight, fair. Fair. But once you achieve that? What then?" Once his current stepfather had his come-uppance, then what was the next step? "Or is it one of those 'I'll figure it out when I get there' kinda things? Because also, y'know, valid."
The additional explanation, however, had Felix even more intrigued as he listened to it all from the angle of logistics and mathematics. "Mmm, okay, valid points. Gotta think about the numbers, but you also gotta prepare for those unknown variables, y'know. Like luck. Keeps shit exciting." Personally, he liked this guy; seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders, very smart, goal oriented. Gave off hella clever but reserved vibes. When handed the resume, he didn't look at it, but rather cast Liu Wei a squinting glance as though studying him for a quick second. "Liu Wei it is, then," he said with a nod. "Hmm…" he hummed after a moment of contemplation, followed by a quiet click of the tongue. "Libra." And with that, he looked down to the paper, flipping over the cover sheet to look at the birthdate. "Mmmmmmmm hm~!" he chimed when confirmed, nodding to himself; he'd always been a pro at guessing someone's astrological sign and yes, this guy was giving hella Libra vibes.
He did glance over the rest of the resume as he took a seat, crossing one leg over the other and leaning back in the chair as he sipped on his drink. Not behavior one would expect from a business professional--very relaxed, very casual, very comfortable compared to the demigod sitting across from him with a rigid and proper posture. "Wooooooooow," he cooed, brows lifting as he was clearly impressed by the list of languages Liu Wei could speak. He had to take the guy's word for it, though, because aside from English, he couldn't speak any of those languages and thus wouldn't be able to fact check him on the spot. "I know Japanese, English and--well, Korean, obviously. I think we'll have this place covered," he added with a wink upon a brief glance up to the interviewee then shifted his gaze back down to the resume in his hand.
And then Liu Wei went deep with his vocalized contemplation, Felix again shifted his attention away from the page and to the other demigod with a curious glance. "Valid points," he agreed with another nod. He hadn't really thought of what it actually meant to be responsible. "I guess it is kinda relative, isn't it?" he mused as he looked back to the resume. "Can't wait to bring that up at Thanksgiving dinner…" he added with a chuckle. He took another moment to skim the job history--well, he certainly had experience working with the public, though he did make special note that Liu Wei would be leaving a rather popular establishment. However, Felix also knew that it wasn't exactly professional to ask him why (nor was this technically allowed in the American workplace) exactly he was planning to leave his current employer; thankfully, that detail would come to light without him having to ask directly. More suited to his nature but not focused on his looks. Got it. Though, if he was unfamiliar with games, he couldn't help but wonder what sort of 'nature' his arcade and bowling alley could cater to.
When Liu Wei mentioned coffee not being as deep a subject as others made it seem, Felix couldn't help but snort in amusement. "Okay, well, while I would totally looooooove to teach you what it means to have fun, now we have a paradox on our hands," he began as he set the resume behind him on the desk and then refocused on the interviewee, one hand remaining rather animated while the other kept a firm grasp on his drink. "Because if games are an extension of people in ways they can't be in real life…but you come to work here…where you play games for a living thus becoming your real life…does your life outside of here become the game?" His position shifted then, elbow on the armrest of his chair, chin atop his fist as he looked to Liu Wei with deep interest. "Discuss!"

As the new man stood before her, she took a moment the analyze him. He had a bit of an eccentric taste in fashion, but it looked well on him. He seemed to establish his on trademark style just off this attire alone, and she couldn't knock someone for that. Felix was definitely someone who she did not seem be worried about. Eloise wondered if he could even have a nefarious thought, and so, she chose simply to welcome him into her home.
Nodding, she smiled. "Yes. Eloise." She replied rather simply. He had a lot of energy matched with an equal level of kindness. So far, she thought they might get along. And if not, at least, food would not all get wasted. "Yeah.. It was my first time using the food delivery app here. I have learned my mistake."
His compliment made her head tilt with a slight twitch of those ears. Did people normally compliment each other's ears? What a weird body part of appreciate, but she was also nonstandard. "Thanks, I guess. Just born that way..." Eloise spoke, waving him in to follow her. Turning around, her tail swished before the man, sticking out from a pre-made slit in her clothes.
The demigoddess walked over to the food. Though this time, she picked up the lazy Marie who had rolled her stomach to see who the new intruder was. Eloise believed that Felix wouldn't have stepped on them on purpose, but she also didn't trust Marie to stay still long enough to do so safely. So, the demigoddess states before the food again, having not touched anything because she had been waiting for him. "There is more than just noodles. "Char Siu, Guo kui, and some other dishes. Eat whatever you can." Or else, it would be in the trash. The demigoddess never ate leftovers.
Nope! Felix was definitely not someone to worry about. Technically, he could be--oh sure, he definitely COULD be, the potential was there, yes, that this lucky little shit could get away with anything with so very little repercussions IF ANY...but that wasn't the type of person Felix was. Not at all! He was just a bundle of happy cat energy most of the time--which was fitting, considering this woman appeared to literally be a cat...not that he knew that (yet), he just thought she looked cool with her own sense of style (however hyper realistic it was).
"Nice to meet ya in person," he countered with a bright, dimpled grin. His hyena-like chuckle followed softly after when she mentioned the dilemma with ordering from the app. "Dude, I totally get it. One time, I thought I put in one, but I actually typed in ten, and I was, like, eating nothing but pad thai for, like, five days. Which, you know, is actually pretty impressive it lasted as long as it did."
His compliment had been--at least he thought--genuine; whether she believed his sincerity or not was left up to her, but he did mean it. No, it wasn't a typical thing to compliment but, well, in his world it kinda was. When he was welcomed in with a wave, he did pause a bit after closing the door behind him. It was his turn to tilt his head then. "Wait...what?" he echoed as he started to remove his shoes to leave them at the door (habits, not just from a love of Japanese culture, but of a mother who INSISTED his hyperactive self not track dirt through the house). "You were...legit born with cat ears..." he blinked, eyes widening a bit as he noticed the TAIL, too. "And a tail," he added with an astonished point, which he quickly lowered because, damnit Felix, pointing is rude! Right, he was on an island full of demigods and each had their own quirks--maybe hers was being born a literal cat girl. "That is so cool," he said honestly as he left his shoes near the door and followed her further inside to look over the spread.
"Hell yeah, smorgasbord, thanks~" he cooed as he made himself comfortable, looking around the very much not yet unpacked space. "Sooooo just movin' in, huh? Need some help with, like, shelves and stuff? Cuz, I mean, I'm not pro, but I did just install a buuuuunch at my arcade, so I might as well be a master at this point."
Felix was fun. That she saw right away. She liked his ability to play with his words, and there was something so adorable about the amusement he got from all of this. She was quite the fan already, and she would put him on her list. Even if a newbie, this was a patron she was willing to fight for.
Soft laughter followed him. "Do not worry. I'm not a trickster, just resourceful. Even if I slip past a loophole, you will come out fine." She teased with a beaming grin. With Felix, she felt in her element. "You know, when I found out I was a demigoddess, I thought that was my superpower, but no. I am just about that life." Full of mirth, Yingyue did not have to feign any emotion. Her enjoyment was pure, and his personality seemed to match well with hers.
"On this island, you have to look at personality. There is so much beauty everywhere that if looks is what tempted your soul; you would love everyone." Yingyue hums out contently. Leaning a bit closer to him, she asked. "But you like snakes? I do hope you do not mean the type of personality. If so, I should say that isn't unorthodox, just bad taste." Yingyue, though, knew exactly what he was saying. However, she could not pass up the chance to play a bit more.
Yingyue did not skip a beat to continue with Felix. "The arcade? Do you work there? I will most definitely check it out if it means I get to play a few games with you, not just have them comped." She promises him. Yingyue had no problem frequenting a place like this, even if her own game experience was far limited. "Though, I must say. Our stars may align. But, I have high standards for bestie material. We will see by the end of your stay whether you can win my heart. I'm not worried about winning yours."
His playfulness about his drink immediately brought her own laughter out. And, the demigoddess pulled a red string out the hidden pocket in her dress. Moving toward him, she did not immediately pulled the cash from his hand. Instead, she quickly and skillfully tied the red string to his pinky before claiming the cash. "You've been claimed. Don't go anywhere." She coos back, blowing him a kiss before going to the bar. And, she did not take long. Soon back with both drinks in her hand, she appeared at his table. "Where's my favorite, sweet tooth?"
She wasn't a trickster, just resourceful? "That sounds exactly like something a trickster would say," he teased right back at her with a wink. He was playing, of course. So far, his first time at one of these maid things was kinda nice. She was nice. And while he was sure there were other employees at Sakura that were good at their job, entertaining the customers and being great company, Felix was convinced that--even beyond his natural good luck--his very first time at the establishment, he had just happened upon the perfect one for him. Maybe she could even be a good friend! She was just naturally clever, finding all sorts of loopholes and the like, and he found himself falling into that hyena-esque chuckle when she mentioned it was her superpower. "Just a natural talent, I guess," he said of her cleverness.
"Oh my god, you are soooooooo right," he agreed with a melodramatic swoon, ever the animated fellow that Felix. "Literally everyone on this island is sooooo pretty. Like, you HAVE to have a stellar personality just to stand out, and honestly, you're goooooooooooorgeous." A compliment, because he really did enjoy her company. "Yesssssssssssssssss~" he playfully hissed in confirmation to his love of snakes. Again, he laughed a bit at her comments. "No no, the reptiles, not the personality. I think that's kinda rude to snakes, really. To have their behavior be tied in to negative connotations, y'know? Kittens, though? Kittens are far more dangerous. Like, you get sucked in by the cuteness and the purring…and the next thing you know, you're covered in scratches and bite marks. Brutal, I tell you. Brutal."
He paused. "I kid. I love cats, too," he conceded.
As for the arcade, he chuckled again, nodding to her questions, ever the animated fellow. "Yeah, I work there--I mean, if you can call it work. I own the place and literally play games for a living. It's a pretty sweet gig, I think." He grinned that adorable grin though at the idea of them playing games together. "A'ight. Bet." If she wasn't worried about winning his heart, then he wouldn't worry about winning hers right back. Except…that he did. He did it well, though. He was more concerned about winning her friendship--a genuine friendship.
He snorted as he watched her tie the string to his finger, though. "Is this a thing? Is this a legit thing? So cool." Claimed, huh? Was this part of the whole maid spiel? When she told him not to go anywhere, he gave her a little salute. "Yes, ma'am!"
So while she was off to get their drinks, he turned his attention to the string on his finger and felt mild prickles of panic and sadness under his skin and behind his eyes despite the smile he wore…because he knew this was her job--to be friendly and make someone feel like they were on top of the world and all that…but once he was gone, she was no longer obligated to be his companion; so he didn't really expect her to stop by the arcade for games or to maintain any contact beyond Sakura. So he supposed he would just…make do with the time they had, right?
Where was her favorite sweet tooth? He snapped out of his thoughts, the charm returning with that bright grin. "Rrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiight where you left me~" he cooed back at her. See? Kept his word. Didn't go anywhere! He looked at the drinks with an approving nod. "Ooooo, that looks good. So like, Yingyue, when you're not busy being a totally awesome companion among the cherry blossoms, what do you like to do? Or is it, like, taboo to talk about the Yingyue that exists outside of Sakura."
