Maybe someday Felix would make the correlation between rain and Taavi's happiness, but for now, he was blissfully oblivious. They lived on an island of gods and demigods, so the sudden drizzle could be from any number of things! Goodness, this had to be confusing at times, though. But rather than dwell on the complex ecosystem of Mount Phoenix, Felix remained a grinning fool in the presence of this super nice baker who welcomed him with COOKIES! Which was totally one of the best ways he could have ever been welcomed, honestly.
When told that he was pretty for a troll, Felix tossed an imaginary lock of hair over his shoulder. "Thaaaaaanks~, it's all thanks to the rich minerals in the daily mudbaths," he joked before becoming completely enamored with these delicious (and adorable) kitty cookies. Jesus fucking Christ, why were these so GOOD?!
After shoving another two cookies in his mouth and groaning with approval at the taste, he spoke while chewing. "Is this your magic? That you bake things that are fucking incredible? Or is that just something you're really, really good at? Because damn, man, these cookies are lit!" Seriously, between Angela and Taavi, Mount Phoenix was about to have a sugared-up caffeinated chaotic happy cat among their ranks.
"I better stop..." he muttered to himself as he plucked out two more cookies, but ended up getting a third before closing the bag and sneaking it under the counter for later. "Oh hey! Lemme show you around! Games are on me, of course, if you wanna play." It was the least he could do for being spoiled with the sweet treats!
Only a few people knew about Taavi's capacities but now that he felt more comfortable around Mount Phoenix, he had less defficulties to talk about them, especially with trusted people. However, he didn't doubt that, with time, Felix would realise his moods' influence on the weather, just like Eirwen did. Cookies and pastries were the best welcome, hands down.
"Thank you for sharing your beauty secrets !" Taavi exclaimed, grinning and giggling at the other's antics. He felt good and he was happy, things that were happening quite regularly since his arrival on the island. His mother had commented how lively he looked during their last videocall and he was glad that she had less reasons to worry.
The cookies had been made with love, of course they would be delicious ! "Nah, my uncle is a baker so I learnt since I was little. It's a passion that I spent years to master. It's pretty cool that I could make it my job. My food makes others joyful, it's the best reward." Taavi grinned as Felix took more treats, it had been a good idea to make a big batch just for him.
"Don't worry, I'll make you some more." But now it was time for serious things to start and the young Mayan was vibrating with excitation. He wasn't the best gamer in the world but he had always liked a good time at the arcade. "Yay, thank you ! What should we start with ?"
After a couple more attempts to flatten the stubborn bit of hair, Seungmin barely had time to finish opening his door before he had his arms full of Taavi. He swayed slightly, gaze shifting a little more over the other's outfit before he lightly moved a hand to flick a few strands of the other's light hair out of the way while the other snuggled into him.
He winced slightly at the older's volume, raising his brow briefly in response and then letting a breath free to look at him just a bit more. "Hello, I'm happy too. But be careful with the tackle attacks. We both might have fallen over you know." He murmured softly, voice having it's typical monotone but his gaze was fond and affectionate.
Even if he'd nearly been deafened by his over-excited boyfriend just moments ago.
Taavi took advantage of the swaying, making them twirl around in the entryway, his arms tightly wrapped around the other's waist. "Nonsense !" he exclaimed. "I would not let that happen." He grinned at Seungmin, reaching to pat his strand, to no avail of course. "You look great" he added softly.
They stood a moment, face to face in the hallway, before Taavi pulled Seungmin closer again and kissed him. It was quick but soft and tender, the baker pouring his joy of being with the other into it. He was blushing when they broke and he took the librarian's hands in his.
"Are you ready to go ? I can't wait to visit the festival with you ! There's so much things to see and do."

[...] "Mm... I agree. We can even try different spices combination depending it's for savoury or sugary things." He then clapped at her idea, immediately writing it down. "I like that ! I will look for models." He considered her suggestions, taping his pen against his lower lip. "A brown sugar milk tea flavored log with tapioca pearls would be great ! What about including the pearls in a crème brûlée insert ?" Taavi blushed as Eirwen mentioned the rain, turning away to look at the windows to hide the pink dust on his cheeks and ears. The young woman was aware of his parentage but he had never told her about his powers more clearly. "Hum yes... That's weird. Maybe Susanoo's in a bad mood ?" The rain was subduing but even him jumped at the violent lightning crossing the sky, its deafening noise resonating with his sudden upset mood.
Eiwen listened intently to Taavi’s response, trusting him to write down important points they discussed, since taking notes while engaging in conversation was not her strength.
“Combining spices is great, maximum should be five ingredients I think, or else there could be conflict in the flavours, and we don’t want that, right?” As Taavi volunteered to seek models for the figure sugar decorations, Eirwen nodded her agreement, then waited for his feedback about her idea for the Christmas logs. When Taavi suggested adding tapioca pearls in the crème brûlée insert, Eirwen took a few seconds to think about it, then replied.
“That sounds interesting, I guess we should make a brown sugar milk tea flavour log with pearls outside and inside first, and see if it works. And…” She paused to look at the bags of different tapioca flours on the kitchen island, then turned back to add to what she was saying. “I also think that the tapioca pearls in the cream should not be sweetened, and they should be slightly firmer and less chewy than the pearls on the log’s surface, just to balance the sweetness and make the bites a bit…crunchier, you know what I mean?”
Eirwen had not paid that much attention to the rain outside, until she left a lighthearted comment about that, and suddenly Taavi seemed to avoid eye contact with her. She had heard Taavi introduce his god father, Huracan, and known that his supernatural ability was generally connected to storms and rain, which resembled part of Susanoo’s range of divine powers.
Through conversations with Susanoo during his visits to the bakery, Eirwen learned that while the Japanese god’s mood did have a connection with the weather, he was in total control of its manifestation, meaning rains and storms would only come if he allowed them to. So far, the god only let that happen a few times, and the storms he had brought were as intense as his true anger was.
Meanwhile, the rain outside was a lot more gentle. Once Taavi became shy, it ceased, and a crashing thunder immediately came to startle the light out of Eirwen. But that was a single lightning bolt, unlike the chains of lightning strikes that were Susanoo’s trademark homemade thunderstorms.
Eirwen waited for her heartbeats to calm down and her mind finished the analysis to talk to Taavi again. “You know, I like that rain more than the downpours Susanoo-ssama created,” she smiled kindly at him, her voice remaining calm and reassuring as she subtly tested her hypothesis, “I wonder if the rain can somehow continue for a while, it’s actually nice to hear it in the background while we’re baking, don’t you think?”
Taavi nodded, circling the big '5' he had just written down. Eirwen was right though, too much different tastes in the same treat could ruin everything. Baking was like chemistry, every measure had to be precise to avoid a disaster. Sometimes, the simplest option was the best. "Let's not make too heavy things either" he proposed. "Desserts must be the fresh touch at the end of the meal, not something that stay on your stomach."
Oh, the young Mayan was salivating in advance ! Brown sugar milk was one of his favorite bubble tea flavors and he really wanted to taste that into a dessert. Ideas about a nice shape were already flowing into his mind, something original but not too original, if that made sense. "That's perfect. Every creamy pastry needs some crunch. I will try different textures for you to choose from." He quickly wrote down some notes, a good way to hide the blush on his cheeks.
As the thunder resonated, Taavi wished once more that he could have more control over his powers. He noticed Eirwen's reaction and he truly hated to make people uncomfortable or disappointed when they saw the rain falling down. Especially when the weather was cold already. He had heard of Susanoo through Prince mostly and, again, wondered if the god could help him in a way or another, just like his brother was doing.
"Thank you !" Taavi exclaimed at Eirwen's compliments about the rain before putting a hand over his mouth, his brain finally realizing what had happened. "I mean..." He was red as a tomato now, it was too late, there was nothing he could do to make up for his mistake. So he just moved his hand to rub the back of his neck. "Alright, that's me. Creating rain, lightenings and storm is part of my powers. But I struggle to control them."
Eirwen was one of his favorite persons in Mount Phoenix. And now that she knew about his powers, he felt relieved that his secret was out.

Laughter may have been silent as it left her lips, but it illuminated her face with a bright grin as she watched his exaggerated response to her quiet applause. It was cute how he took a selfie; she remembered when she was once so excited to land her own bullseyes; she supposed that he wasn't super used to hitting the target with such accuracy. It was well deserving of praise!
When he approached and asked her about training and if she would rather train alone, she wove her hands dismissively at him, wordless protests that no, no no! It was perfectly fine! In fact, her hand gestures quickly moved to a downward patting motion, the universal sign to stay! Then shifted to motioning between the both of them, then the surroundings, again wordlessly encouraging that they share the space.
When he admired her bow, her face broke into a very bright grin! Slender but strong arms shifted to carefully extend the bow, flipping it a couple times out of habitual flair and then holding it out to the young man for him to not only have a closer look, but the gentle nod and uplift of her hands encouraged him to take it for a closer look. She didn't meet many people who were as interested in archery as she was--a love that was heavily spurned from meeting Skadi and even more so flourished upon learning the craft from the goddess herself. So yes, of COURSE she was happy to show off her equipment to someone who was clearly so enthusiastic about the art of archery as she was!
If he took it, then she would also take one of the arrows from her quiver, to have the full effect, smiling excitedly all the while.
Oh, he had been used to, when he was still taking part into contests and championships. He still had the proof of that at his mother's home, the trophies he had received proudly exposed in the living room. But since his arrival to Mount Phoenix, with a very intense job and surprisingly full social life, he had less time to train. And he missed it.
So he was proud of himself in that moment, really proud.
Taavi smiled at the young woman's gestures, understanding their meaning quite easily. He enthusiastically nodded at her suggestion to share the space, it could even be fun. He suddenly wondered if she could sign so he tried, his hands still a bit slow, slightly trembling. "I'm Taavi !" he said, accompanying his gestures. "It's nice to meet another archer !"
Taavi's eyes widened when she offered the bow and he carefully took it with a grateful grin. It was of a nice weight in his hands, balanced though very different than all the bows he had ever used. There was no stabilizer either and he wasn't used to those anymore. She then presented him with an arrow and he was positively glowing.
"Is it really ok if I try it ? I'll be careful, I promise !"

Was every demigod on the planet a monster? Vitas didn't think so. But that didn't mean that every demigod was a saint either. Vitas certainly knew that he wasn't, and he didn't pretend like he was either. He could understand why his mother and her family would label him a demon--from their perspective, he was; Marta and Jakoby and that entire brood, they all labeled him a different kind of monster--fiercely different and unapologetically honest. The truth was his weapon; the truth hurt; and people didn't like having the painful truths hurled back at them, they didn't like that this scrawny devil ripped of their masks to expose who they really were underneath, the parts of themselves they wanted to hide. Most people--not all, but most--were far uglier beneath the mask. Meanwhile, Vitas was just...Vitas.
At least this Taavi fellow seemed polite enough, offering to give him advance notice prior to visiting the archives; while it certainly wasn't necessary, it was considerate nonetheless. "Okay," he acknowledged with a slow nod. And if the baker was interested in researching something in particular, then Vitas would have time to pull some helpful materials for him ahead of time. It also appeared that Taavi was aware of the rules regarding food and beverages in the library. "Okay," he repeated with another nod, his quiet baritone still dry and empty.
He did not, however, expect such an enthusiastic response to the answer that he spoke 27 languages. A soft exhale escaped his lips; this guy had a lot of energy; maybe it was from inhaling confectioner's sugar at the bakery? When he went on to admit his own number of languages, his attention lingered. "Three fluent and another three known is still impressive. Did you know that 75% of Americans are only fluent in English? I consider your linguistic knowledge superior to at least 250 million people." It was a compliment.
"Before I came here, I was also an interpreter and language tutor. If you want, I could assist you in either honing your skills in those three less-fluent languages or teaching you a new language entirely." Despite the monotone of his voice, that had been a sincere offer. Sharing knowledge--and the means to attain further knowledge--was one of the archivist's passions, so he would not mind at all if Taavi accepted.
And so it was time to gauge the cleverness of this baker...who did ultimately guess correctly when it came to the Norse demigod's father. "You did," he confirmed, lifting his hands to snap three times in praise. "Well done," he continued, folding his hands on his lap once more. "You win a prize. Name your reward. Not related to baking." And that was not meant to stump Taavi, oh no--that was a sneaky attempt on the archivist's part to learn more about the baker outside of being a pastry chef and Mayan demigod.
"Ideas?" he asked of Taavi's creativity regarding a cake next time. "Such as?"
Oh, Taavi was aware of that. He had heard rumors of some bloody events that had happened before his arrival in Mount Phoenix. He had met Haoyu and though things had ended pretty well, he had first-hand experienced some... difficulties caused by another demigod. He was innocent but not that innocent to believe everyone was nice and gentle. And whatever Vitas could label himself as, the baker had only seen a good, even if a bit curt, side of him.
Truth hurt but it was necessary sometimes. Taavi was always trying to be as honest as he could but it was difficult sometimes. Hurting others wasn't what he wanted so he just accepted them the way they were.
Great ! I'll see when I have some free time next the Mayan said, grinning. Maybe he could come and say hi the next time he visited Seungmin or maybe that he could plan an appointment just for Vitas. He would look up in advance for things he would want to see, just to make the archivist's job easier. That was the least he could do.
Taavi giggled at the compliment. He had lived enough time in NYC to realize how lucky he was to already speak English at the time. It had saved his life, no one knowing Korean around him. A couple of people had known Spanish too and it had been great to use his birthplace's language with them. "It's rather tragic, isn't it ?" he commented with a wink. It was a little sad, in his opinion, to not want to open to the world more.
"Vitas, you are really awesome, do you know that ?" the baker added, calming down, a soft smile replacing the huge grin on his lips. "I'd like to get better at French so if you wouldn't mind to help with that ? It'd be really great ! My brother and friend are teaching me Thai and ASL too. It's little more complicated to find people speaking Mayan around here though."
Taavi got up, spun around and bowed in an elegant reverence. The praise brought a light dusty pink on his cheeks as he sat back. "A reward ? Do I have to choose right now or can I think about it ?" He tapped his chin, his eyes looking up at the ceiling as he thought about the question. Thoughts that became even deeper as Vitas questioned him about the cake.
"Mm... Something fresh and light, I think. Maybe with vanilla and peach blossoms jam, what do you think ?"
Ten years away from the island had resulted in a return to many new things--and people! Valerie was quite thrilled to check out the new facilities at Zero to Hero, having been given the tour de force of the place in order to familiarize herself with the changes--after all, she would be spending quite a bit of time here keeping herself in tip-top shape!
But oh, there was even an archery room?! She had to partake in this! She couldn't let Skadi down by letting her skills get rusty! And so, one day, she returned to the gym with her favorite bow and quiver in tow, intent on utilizing the space for her own practice. Just as always, her movements were completely silent, a master of stealth--which was a bonus, because she did not want to disturb the fellow already present. She did pause to watch, though, recognizing that he was about to shoot and not wanting to distract him with any movement in his peripheral vision, so she stayed still behind him and waited. He had really good form, too!
But when his arrow landed in the bullseye, her face lit up with an impressed grin and instinctively her hands rose, pointer and long fingers extended on both to clap against one another in rapid and enthusiastic--although very quiet--applause. If he turned to look at her, she would stop and give him two very excited thumbs up!
Taavi sauntered to the target, taking a selfie with his face close to the arrow and making a V sign. He sent it to Dao and Prince and, after a few seconds of hesitation, to Seungmin too. His brother and friend were quick to reply and he grinned at their happy messages, turning around to grab the arrow, humming softly to himself.
That's when the soft clapping resonated in the almost empty room and he squealed, turning around in surprise. There was a young woman there, watching him, her hands shifting into thumbs up when she saw he had noticed him. He smiled, making an exaggerate reverence before running back to where he had left his bow.
Thank you ! he exclaimed as he got closer to the girl. Do you want to train too ? Would you like to stay alone ? I don't mind coming back later or tomorrow !
As he talked, Taavi's eyes fell on her bow and quiver and they widened. It had been such a long time since he had even touched a more traditional bow. "This is amazing ! Would you mind if I tried it ?"
Dao patiently waited as Taavi got out what he wanted to ask, expression fully open and warm while the other spoke. He smiled back too, lifting a hand to gently pat at the younger's knee before nodding encouragingly as he looked back at him again. He smiled more at the light flush filling his friend's cheeks, humming a little with each hesitant word until the question was free and Dao moved to wrap one arm across the younger's shoulders with one more smile.
"That's what you've been thinking so hard about, huh? Hmm..." Another shift and Dao gently pulled Taavi in so he could set his chin on the top of his head and just have the younger in a comforting cuddle to try and ease his his fluster a bit too.
"Well... I've not had many moments, but I do know that... If your heart flutters in your chest whenever you go and see them or if you're thinking about them a lot in ways you didn't expect or just think they feel different from your other interactions and relationships with other people, than yeah! You probably like them. Romantically, right? That's what you're wondering about?"
Dao's gentle touches were truly soothing, putting Taavi at ease. Words were difficult to get out so he really appreciated such gestures, reassuring and tender. More than often, his friend was understanding him way better than he himself did, almost always knowing when the baker needed some encouragement. And he truly did in that moment.
The young Mayan shifted, leaning against his friend as he wrapped an arm around him. He rested his head over the other's shoulder, turning his face to peek at him as he talked.
Don't make fun of me ! Taavi exclaimed, tickling Dao a bit. Everything's so new to me he added, pensive. He had never dated anyone before, only asking himself questions about how it would feel to be romantically close to someone. He cuddled back, sighing happily.
The baker listened carefully, reminding himself of his recent behavior towards a certain person. Fluttering heart ? Check. Thinking about them all the time ? Check. Feeling differently with them than with his other acquaintances ? Check. He was doomed.
"Yeah, I think so" Taavi answered, tapping his chin with his finger. "I truly want more than friendship with them."

Lunar Light
a lny starter for @mptaavi
After spending what felt like far too long of a time getting ready, Seungmin found himself standing in front of his bathroom mirror with a small frown. Something wasn't as pristine as he originally wanted it to be but he couldn't figure out how to fix it. It's... annoying. He looked fine from head to toe but those little bits of his hair at the top of his head simply refused to lie flat.
It frustrated him.
He sighed after a few moments though, a knock on his door pulling him away from staring sullenly into his mirror to go greet his very important guest.
One wouldn't have imagined this situation... a friendly and inquisitive baker looking for recipes at the library, determinedly befriending and socializing with a monotone librarian. And now they were here, in ways that went even beyond simple friendship. But... Seungmin couldn't say he hated the situation. If he was enraptured by anyone, at least it was someone like Taavi. They were still adjusting and adapting to each other, but this was their first official date.
He shook his head briefly to clear it, opening the door and letting his gaze shift briefly over the older male to take in his outfit for a moment before eventually greeting him with a light little nod.
one | two | three | four
Taavi's bedroom was a mess. His closet was almost empty, most of his clothes abandoned on his bed as he tried outfit after outfit. Finally, he found something perfect, not too hot or too cold, cute but not ostentatious. He just had enough time for a quick shower and to apply some makeup before grabbing his coat and rushing to Seungmin's house.
The baker still couldn't believe how things had evolved between the librarian and himself. He had been a nuisance, then a friend and now he was a boyfriend and he truly loved that. That feeling of belonging, of having that special place in someone's heart was new and exciting and wonderfully reassuring. He had Prince and Dao and many other friends but Seungmin... Seungmin was different.
His perfect opposite but also his perfect complement.
Taavi was literally vibrating as he arrived at the Manticore Apartments and knocked at his boyfriend's door. And then Seungmin opened and the Mayan jumped at his neck, burying his head in his neck, his blond hair coming to tickle the other's cheek.
"Hi, it's our first date !" he almost yelled in the Greek demigod's ear. "I'm so happy !"
[...] "I'm fine ! I rested well for today" he answered, sipping on his own coffee. It was just like he loved it, with milk and sugar a hint of cinnamon. "You're welcome ! Tell me if you want more, I made enough in case we need to use some for our recipes." Taavi sketched a happy grin when the young woman noticed everything he had prepared already. It was his way to work, having everything he could need nearby. "Mm... Traditional pastries sounds good, with a festive twist maybe ? Would it be possible for you to add spices to the dough ? That would give a subtle taste to our regular treats. And of course, we can't avoid gingerbread cookies and what about Grittibänze ?" The young baker pondered for a moment, sipping on his coffee. "I think we need to do some Christmas logs, at least. Same model but different taste ?" Outdoor, a soft rain had started to fall over the bakery, a few lightnings crossing the sky, thunder resonating in the distance. Taavi was happy and excited, his mood reflected by the weather.
“That’s great to know, there’s no way we can function well with sleep deprivation, right?” Eirwen commented, her timbre was bright in excitement for today’s session. The scent of strong black coffee with little sugar permeated her mouth, giving her senses and mind an extra boost to breeze through the day, and as Taavi mentioned, she nodded in agreement. “It’s a smart move to have some extra coffee around, I’m quite confident that we will need it today.” Because no matter what season was out there, coffee would remain stable as many of their customers’ favourite flavour.
The demigoddess took another sip before setting the coffee cup aside, her eyes were fixed on the ingredients while she was listening to Taavi’s suggestions. It was not a rare sight to see around the bakery, Eirwen staring at the thin air, her whole body motionless as if she was in a light trance. That was just an indication of her being deep in thought, mulling over the information she got and waiting for her brain to sort them out. More often than not, the options her mind came up with were rather bizarre even to her standard.
“Spices in dough is a must, yes, something that warms the body up, like allspice, cloves, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, and…Do we still have sage? That could go well with orange bread.” And there would always be a few drops of soothing potion, but Taavi did not have to know about that.
She then turned her head to look at Taavi, her eyes became lively in eagerness as she spilt out the ideas that had just sprouted in her mind.
“Grittibänze is a great idea! How about adding sugar decorations to make them Santa Claus, Disney’s characters, or even the deities from all the pantheons? We can mix some spices in the gingerbreads too, kicking it up a notch like you said. And I’m thinking about adding fondue and tapioca pearls to the Christmas logs, how does that sound to you?”
Eirwen was partly aware of the change in the weather, yet she only looked out of the window when thunder’s rumbles started to get closer. "Hmm, this rain seem slightly...odd," she titled her head in question, still unaware of the cause.
"I agree !" The thing was that Taavi was used to sleep deprivation. Tao or Prince or even Seungmin had to physically stop him for baking and sent him to bed so he could get some sleep. He loved his job so, so much that he sometimes didn't know how to stop himself. At least there was coffee. He nodded at Eirwen. "I'm sure we can find very good flavors to mix with that will make people happy."
Taavi gave her the time she needed, scrolling through recipes and pictures on his tablet while he finished his own coffee. He was used to Eirwen's ways to work by now though it had surprised him a lot in the beginning. So he just waited until she had digested all the informations given to her, he didn't doubt that she was going to come up with something amazing. He trusted her and he truly was delighted to work with her.
"Mm... What about including the pearls in a crème brûlée insert ?"
Taavi blushed as Eirwen mentioned the rain, turning away to look at the windows to hide the pink dust on his cheeks and ears.
Apollo, while stoking a lot of anger from the other gods, faired well with most demigods. So, Taavi's words did not surprise him, nor were they incorrect. "It's no problem, kid." He reassures them. While Apollo would preferred to hold the demigods at a distance, he lately seemed to be stepping up as a mentor for many of them. He never questioned it though. He did not have his hands quite as full lately as he had in the past.
He nodded his head. "I am still obviously the better twin, but Artemis is a worthy goddess to desire to meet. She is probably somewhere out in the woods with her group. I have not called on her lately." He explains simply. Apollo as well missed his sister dearly, but in many ways, he knew that he was being greedy to keep her on the island. Artemis needed open woods to explore. "Athena is a warrior and good at weapons, but don't forget that I am the god of archery, not her. And, I am more handsome. Hard to be better than me."
Looking over, he nodded his head. "When multiple people give you advice, it is most wise to take it to heart." He said warmly. Stubbornness was a trait that Apollo did appreciate when used properly. He just wasn't sure it was used properly in Taavi's instance. "There is no need to thank me." Patting his shoulder, he motioned his head. "It's cold out there. Why don't you get home before it is too late? I'll make sure the cast enjoys your treat."
Taavi couldn't tell much about the other gods. But Apollo had been nice to him since their first meeting so he had no reason not to see him as anything else than a friend. A mentor was good definition, someone who could help him to progress with the skills he already had.
The baker wasn't going to comment on that but he still smiled. "I'm sure she's happy and it's probably what you want for her, like I want for my brother to be happy." Even if that meant being away from each other. The Mayan let the other affirmations slide, there was no way to win against Apollo's ego.
Oh it wasn't and even Taavi was aware of it ! He was just so afraid to disappoint people that he couldn't stop himself until everything was perfect. He was going to make some efforts though. "Alright, I go home and I promise to rest !" The young man grabbed his things, moving towards the door. "Have fun tonight !" he exclaimed. And with a last wave, he was gone.

2k Followers Celebration: @emeraldelysian asked: Pink Yeosang or Blonde Yeosang
If he knew that anyone actually felt safe in his company, then he would have questions for them. Many questions. Now, Vitas personally knew that he wasn't dangerous to someone unless he deemed them worthy of his ire--but that hadn't stopped people from labelling him a monster throughout his entire life and he had come to believe it; it was just something he had accepted about himself; and people really didn't feel 'safe' around monsters, did they?
Truthfully, consuming cupcakes did not sound appealing to him; he could just make his own, he knew, and that way he would not nothing nefarious had found its way into the recipe. Still, there was a faint spark of curiosity as to just how creative the bakery was with producing a new cupcake everyday; would they eventually run out of ideas? Mildly tempting, but not enough to warrant a daily visit.
"Advance notice is not necessary," he said of the baker visiting the archives. If one could find something Vitas was passionate about, it was granting other access to knowledge. "However, food and drink are not permitted in the archives due to the delicate and rare materials," he further explained, just in case Taavi got any bright ideas to bring more cupcakes to his place of work. As for the languages he knew, Vitas nodded once. "Twenty-seven, to be exact." Though Yucatan and K'iche' Mayan were not yet on that extensive list. However, he did plan to learn them in the not-too-distant future.
Did he know Mingi and Juyeon? "We have not met," he replied flatly, not recognizing the names from any slots in the Ratatoskr mail room either.
Truthfully, by this point, Vitas hadn't met many demigods outside of his own pantheon (nor GODS for that matter save one) who were particularly knowledgeable of the Norse mythos; for Vitas, his parentage was obvious...but then again, he was Vitas, and he at least recognized that, due to his abilities, he had a tendency to easily figure things out with minimal information compared to others if only due to the fact that he had a wealth of information available in his memory that most people did not.
So when Taavi proposed he try to guess the archivist's parent, Vitas took one more sip of his coffee, then left the cup on the table, sitting up straight and folding his hands in lap, a good little stationary doll. "Okay." He could make the game harder by covering his lanyard and ID badge to hide the raven pins and charm, but instead he opted to leave those clues in the open. And, as though a courtesy, offered one more hint by briefly drawing attention to his blind left eye as delicate fingers tucked the loose locks behind his ear. There, that should be enough hints for him.
As for making a cake next time, Vitas gave a very subtle lift in his brow. "If you want." He likely wouldn't eat it.
Ok. Well. At that moment, every demigod living on that planet was a monster. They all had powers, some more dangerous than others. Were they equally monsters ? And what about himself, a small boy responsible for the death of a stepsister. Was he a monster too ? They were different, yes, but not less human than 'normal' people. He would do his best to not annoy Vitas if it meant he would stay away from his anger. But would he be afraid of him ? He had no reason to.
Taavi was extremely creative, always ready to try new recipes and discover new flavors. It was his job but also his very own interest, the boy almost bound this his kitchen, even after his long work hours. He was quite lucky that his profession was also his passion. Daily visits weren't necessary, a quick stop from time to time would be more than enough.
"Still, it's the polite way to do things" Taavi answered. "At least, just to make sure you would be around." He giggled at Vitas' remark. "Don't worry ! I've been told about that by Seungmin so many times already ! All the food stays in the break room." To say that the baker was astonished would be an understatement. He clapped, bouncing a bit on his chair. "Twenty-seven ? You're amazing, Vitas ! I wish I could learn as much as you. I only know six languages and I'm perfectly fluent only in three." It wasn't bad but he felt so behind lots of the island's residents.
Taavi had learnt some things about the Norse pantheon through Juyeon. He still had a lot to discover about all the pantheons of the island and Seungmin had also been a good help with that. Even the Mayan pantheon could be confusing at time. But he was willing to know more, starting with the Greek myths.
"Mmm..." The son of Huracan sat straight in his chair too, his bright eyes fixed on the other. His gaze followed the move of his hand and he considered the blind eye before his attention was caught by some light reflection on Vitas' raven charm. "Blind eyes, raven, super smart..." Taavi's face suddenly lit up and he grinned. "Is it Odin ? Did I get it right ?"
His grin didn't leave his face as he nodded. "I want ! I already have ideas."

Seungmin relaxed a little more with the assurance, humming softly and lightly bumping Taavi back when the older nudged at his shoulder. "Alright." He stated aloud, gaze subtly drifting to glance at the other's face again. Soon enough the dance question was asked and the two of them were on their feet... and the universe laughed. Outright just laughed at him when the new song rolled out and turned out to be a slow song. Of all the things it could have been! A slow song?
It's too late for him to change his mind too, so with the other's giggly question, Seungmin just huffed before adjusting his hands to the proper positions. "I've read books about it, it shouldn't be too hard." He murmured, glancing down at their feet so he could adjust his and then making sure he had all the right positions from what he could remember. "I've read a lot of different books. I didn't have much to do so, I read pretty much anything. I know the basics of slow dancing from one..." He added, glancing back at Taavi again.
"That's what you want to do, right? Since it's a slow song."
Seungmin had been a little hard to approach at first. He was so smart and sometimes just a bit uptight and it had scared the baker a bit. He wasn't the brightest so someone like the librarian had impressed him.
But Seungmin was nice and gentle too. Attentive, he was always listening to Taavi and the Mayan was thankful for that. Like with Prince and Dao, he truly felt heard for the first time in his life.
"Books, why am I not surprised ?" Taavi answered, chuckling. Books weren't going to help the librarian in that very real moment. Theory was ok, having a real person against to you was another story. "That's what I want to do" the baker added, gently swaying his body on the rhythm of the music, pulling the other just a little bit closer.
