alisaie being regarded as the volatile one which i suppose she is to an extent but she is able to get it out of her system for the most part and move on and grow from it. and imo all around she is just more….idk if forgiving is the right word but it links into her definitely being the more honourable twin, as some people have pointed out.

but alphi? alphi is meant to be the levelheaded one - that is both what i see people interpret him as and how he wants to present himself as. lord knows he isn’t because he is just so full of pent up emotions, a large amount of it being anger and this raw type of sadness that he never really gets to express. and from his rare outbursts it is shown to us that he feels them in such a violent, visceral way, directed both towards himself and others.

and then he can never let himself properly express this.

the rare times we see him do so it is in a more private setting, i.e. in conversations with the wol or the scions. but even then he still holds himself back, immediately apologising for feeling emotions that he is likely ashamed of. looking at his life it is clear that he’s been like this for a LONG TIME, with his whole ‘stiff upper lip’ schtick that he just forces himself to uphold, reaching perhaps it’s peak in ARR before crumbling at the end of it. but it doesn’t go away. now that he is no longer “acting” as the little lordling it manifests into such pervasive guilt and repression of all his feelings, hoping that it will be his atonement in a way.

obviously it wont, or rather he doesn’t really need to atone in the way he thinks he does and now he has just kind of got an unstable mess of an identity.
