Hello, all. My name is Jonathan Sims (it/he), though Archivist works just as well. I am the Head Archivist at the Magnus Institute.
My co-workers recommended setting up a blog here as a way to socialize more, and while thatโs not something I have any real interest in, I thought it might be fun.

*The door to your office creaked open. It was slow, tentative, like whomever turned the handle knew you'd prefer not to be disturbed. In came your newest archival assistant, Erik Lovman.*
*He came in and set down your morning tea, then stood at a tense, formal posture to greet you. He had gained a reputation for not taking advantage of the institute's casual atmosphere.* "Good morning, sir. Any new statements for me to transcribe, or am I doing audio today?"
The sound of ceramic on wood was what caught Jonโs attention, pulling him from his deep focus. When he looked up and recognized his assistant, he greeted the man with a smile; the expression is as off-putting as ever.
โAh, Erik, good morning. Yes, Iโd appreciate it if you could record this statement for me.โ He slid the statement folder across the desk.
*Erik nodded, and flipped through the file. Once he skimmed through, he looked back up at you with something that might have been curiosity if the man could make a proper expression.*
"This doesn't digitize, then? It's quite peculiar how that seems to happen at random." *His eyes squinted, ever so slightly, as if trying to assess your reaction.*
โHm, it is, isnโt it?โ
Jon leans back in his seat and reaches for his tea to take a sip. โIโd assume technical difficulties if Sasha hadnโt already ruled that out. But I suppose thereโs nothing to be done about it, is there?โ

Wellโฆ maybe not an eye, but I will admit to keeping my childhood stuffed lion in my bed to this day. It was a gift from my aunt during a rather stressful period of my life, so it means quite a lot to me.

Ah! Huh. How interesting. Hello, erโฆ other me. While Iโm not sure what would count as better in this regard, Iโd say Iโm rather well-adjusted, yes. :)
Admittedly, my co-workers would probably disagree with me. They seem to think I work far too much. But to my credit, I do my best not to overwork myself (lest my mum have my head for it). Iโm just passionate about the work.
...your.. mother? That.. um. I am an orphan.. are you.. not?
Ah, well. My parents did die when I was young, yes; I was under my grandmotherโs care for a while. But Iโm with a much better family, now.

My name is Jonathan Sims. Iโm the Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, located in London.
Iโm going to be honest, Iโm not very good with this sort of thing. The only reason this blog exists in the first place is because my co-worker Tim insisted it would be a good way to โmake friends.โ
I really have no need for that, and Iโm perfectly content with my life as it is, but even so, I thought it might be interesting. Besides, there may be some who are interested in my line of work, which is something Iโm always happy to discuss.
That being said, do feel free to send in an ask if youโre curious about anything at all. Iโm not sure how frequently Iโll post beyond that, as my work keeps me quite busy and I donโt imagine Iโll have much to share anyway.
