Instead of saying “I don’t have time” try saying “it’s not a priority,” and see how that feels. Often, that’s a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just don’t want to. But other things are harder. Try it: “I’m not going to edit your résumé, sweetie, because it’s not a priority.” “I don’t go to the doctor because my health is not a priority.” If these phrases don’t sit well, that’s the point. Changing our language reminds us that time is a choice. If we don’t like how we’re spending an hour, we can choose differently. —Unknown #TodaysMantra 💫 artwork by @ilyamilstein https://www.instagram.com/p/BpEARsvhYGe/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1plftbclbnp0x

More of this “I’m not a bigot but-“ nonsense
“I’m all for body positivity, except for fat bodies”
“It’s great that she’s confident in herself, but let me take a moments to turn people complimenting her into a conversation about how unhealthy and problematic I think her body is”
Just say you don’t like looking at fat people and go about your business. Stop trying to hide it behind disingenuous twitter declarations.
( side note) This fake body positivity is the absolute fault of the PopSugar fitspo world appropriating it sell their “this brave instagram fitness model who works out 15 days a week shares her inspiring story of how body positivity caused her to embrace the 3 lbs she gained after having twins” stories.
You skinny obsessed fake feminists think you own the term and that fat women are tarnishing body positivity from the *deserving* bodies
Being overweight is unhealthy, not quite sure why that’s a bad thing to say? Being underweight is also unhealthy and that would also not be a bad thing to say? The truth isn’t the problem. If people who aren’t healthy can’t face the truth without become defensive about it, maybe deep down they’re still insecure about it because they know being fat isn’t healthy and they’re using body positivity as an excuse to avoid addressing the problem. Being body positive is a great thing, but ignoring the problem, staying unhealthy, and not addressing the problem is either denial or blatant ignorance and lack of self awareness.
I don’t understand how y’all think fat people live in these insular worlds where they aren’t constantly surrounded by messaging, imagery and unsolicited advice on how their body looks and all sorts of implications of their health.
Nobody is “hiding” behind body positivity. And this “how dare anyone tell fat people that they are beautiful because they need to live in a constant hatred of their appearance in order to change to what I want them to look like” is bizarre.
There are tons of folks who make decisions that may or may not have an impact on their health and we mind our business everyday. The point is that when it comes to visible fatness, our vitriol towards fatness brings out paternalistic platitudes that no one asked for - because just need to project how much you resent looking at fat bodies
And whenever anyone wants to discuss the damage that this rhetoric causes there never ceases to be the “but why is it wrong to say BEING FAT IS BAD?!”
Listen. If you can find a fat person who has somehow never been exposed to people telling them “you are unhealthy,” I will give you $200. Feel free to chase after me on this. I guarantee you will find LITERALLY... NO ONE... so stop dressing up insults as “oh well maybe they’re ignorant of what people like me think about them so I should make sure I tell ‘em.”
Not to mention everything you absolutely should know by now, since you’re a person living in this world and impacting the people around you and there is NO EXCUSE AT THIS POINT TO BE VERY IGNORANT....
-their health isn’t your problem
-would also bet $200 you’re not their doctor so you literally have no jurisdiction here to comment... you think I’m healthy because I’m “not fat”? I have acid reflux so bad that at one point it felt like my throat was closing. FOR A MONTH. My throat has little white spots on it from stomach acid that only doctors can see. Not you, because you’re not a doctor and you can’t make a diagnosis from an Instagram photo
-if you ARE her doctor I’m reporting you for HIPAA violations
-You can be healthy at all sizes... unhealthy at all sizes...
-It’s not your responsibility to police individuals’ health esp. when you know damn well that it’s a very complicated issue. And it’s just so shitty. Just police yourself. You’re being shitty

Three months ago, two lesbians from Lansing, Michigan started a petition to recognize “Lesbian Processing Day” as a national holiday. After receiving over 500,000 signatures on Whitehouse.gov, the petition was granted, and today marks the first official “Lesbian Processing Day” in the United States.
The idea for this holiday came in 2014 when Aliyah Nichols and Sadie Williams were seniors in college. At the time, the two women had recently broken up, and after days of not speaking to each other, Sadie suggested that they meet up at a cafe to “process” things.
Two coffees and seven hours later, they had discussed every detail of their two-month long relationship from each of their perspectives.
maybe this is obvious to everyone here but I’m not familiar with the news source and maybe you should include a note that it’s satire! I kind of figured, but had to click to be sure.... haha

Jeff Bezos is sitting on $97 billion because of stuff like this
Amazon made $47B in gross profits in 2016. They have 540,000 employees.
If they gave every employee a $5/hr wage increase and increased their workforce by 10% to reduce time pressures on individual workers, it would cost them between $6B and $9B per year (assuming 40 to 60 hr average work week), still leaving about $40B in gross profits. That’s still a ridiculously huge amount of money being made.
But capitalists always want to squeeze out ever more profits and this is always done by exploiting workers.
THIS is why they strike, and THIS is why we support them. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM AMAZON FOR THE DURATION OF THE STRIKE. BUY ELSEWHERE, and MAKE IT CLEAR that you’re supporting the striking workers.
so gross. Whenever people are like “why don’t you get prime? it pays for itself”
because I literally want to discourage myself from ordering there, rather than encouraging.
