🏎️ kai was born into a low-income family. his father knocked up his mother and abandoned her as soon as he found out she was pregnant. his mother was a recovering drug addict and stopped as soon as she found out that she was pregnant. after he was born, his mother had difficulties with kai. he was a fussy baby and needed attention all the time. before kai even turned one years old, his mother fell into drug addiction once again.
🏎️ kai was left alone at the age of one, his mother would be out for hours and not return home for days sometimes. neighbors knew that ms. phillips had a son and reported to the police that his mom basically abandoned him. when police showed up at the household, they found kai crying and severally malnourished. he was instantly pulled from the house and put into foster care.
🏎️ being a toddler in foster-care, most parents wanted to adopt him. he had lots of interest in him and when he was just about to turn two he was placed with a family. he grew up in the brenner household. he had a caring women as a mother, that was until the age of seven when mrs. brenner passed away due to a car accident. kai was lucky to survive the wreck, spending a month in the hospital recovering. this resulted in him being left with mr. brenner. mr. brenner fell into a depression at the thought of losing his wife and began to heavily drink. whenever he got drunk, he would blame kai for the death. he would start yelling at him and telling him that he was the worst decision they ever decided on. it progressively got worst to the point where mr. brenner would physically abuse kai.
🏎️ kai would show up to school with bruises all over his face and body. most of the time, he would just brush it off and state that he tripped over stuff, but the school didn’t believe him and reported the incidences to cps. by the age of ten, he was placed back in foster-care and mr. brenner had been arrested. he was in foster-care for a year until he was brought home to a nice place in the hamptons -- the brooks household.
🏎️ the brooks were a nice little family, a wife, husband, and a son. although he had a mindset that it wouldn’t last. all good things wouldn’t last, it was what he was used to and condition himself as reality. that he was the unlucky one. he knew that mrs. brooks often brought kids home, but wouldn’t keep them and he thought the same thing would happen to him. he didn’t bother getting too comfortable with things there, even if it was nice.
🏎️ during this stage, he became fascinated in cars and because of that, mrs. brooks arrange for the family to go see races. he had his heart set on becoming a racecar driver, he like the rush it gives him and it was the one thing that actually brought him happiness in all the darkness of his life.
🏎️ for his fourteenth birthday, mrs. brooks decided to adopt him into the family. she knew he been through way too much and knew that most people wouldn’t adopted teenagers, she knew that he had a good heart, someone who’s been through way too much at way too young.
🏎️ finally feeling secured, he began to get more comfortable with the family, more specifically he got close to his now mom and his older brother, cieran. their father was barley in the picture, he was wrapped up in his own world.
🏎️ as cieran got more into professional tennis, he set his heart for to become a famous race-care driver, he figured that if the two of them were into sports, his father would loosen his strictness on cieran and try to focus on him and give him attention to put the pressure off his brother.
🏎️ at the age of seventeen, he won his first race and by eighteen he was made it to the NASCAR playoffs, ranking him in at one of the youngest to make it in the industry.
