I saw on @puffypuffers insta with screen caps from a Dollfie Dream FB group that Luo, one of the top recasters in China, is now in the process of filing for trademark of various BJD companies to own their trademark.

Which means that those companies he’s filing for to “own” were to sell in China, from Taobao to even doll shows, they could face legal actions and could never sell in China again. The list of companies that have been effected and having pending trademark is already extensive, companies that aren’t even in China such as Dollshe, Fairyland, Iplehouse, Soom, Lily at, Marina Byockova, Peaks Woods, DOLK, Bambicrony, Cocoriang, and so much more, he’s also even added trademarks in the US for. Luo has every intention of chasing out the “competition” of the companies themselves so he can sell freely with no repercussions.

With him doing this, he’s literally eliminating the companies that he recast from, so will probably be a point where you no longer be able buy originally cast of those companies doll, but you’re only be able to buy cheap resin copies because those companies will eventually shut down due to losing a part of the market they sell to

I have never bought a deliberately verbatim copy of an artist’s work. I have purchased different brands of similar colour make-up, different brands of similar creme filled cookies, but you see mass produced items such as this are different then a verbatim copy of artist’s sculpture advertised with the artists original stock photos.

Quit making up bad excuses for your theft!

To all the Anti Recast, saying it is illegal to buy and own recast. Learn the law before spreading shit: “The Department of Justice, however, has stated that federal law doesn’t prohibit an individual from buying a counterfeit product for personal use, even if they do so knowingly.” The only illegal thing is to sell them. So fight recaster not recast owner. Saying recast kills the hobby is BS too. Fairyland is one of the biggest and most rich. And the most recasted. So stop spreading BS.

How would you feel if after you worked hours upon hours For months on styling your doll making it perfect to match your vision spending untold amounts of money to make it work and then some chinease group comes in and says "oh people want to buy this" takes the design and makes a copy (I won't even go into the quality of the copy because it's been made clear you all don't care or don't notice the difference) and then they sell it, you get nothing, no compensation. Nothing. Then everyone has your Oc everyone is walking around with your doll and you got NOTHING. Would you keep creating? I wouldn't.

What about doll kin and their incessant need to steal doll pics and not source them and post them on their blogs and tag them as "kin" that bothers you right? That makes you upset right?

Put yourself in the shoes of the artist, when you buy recast you tell the artists you don't care about them, that you just want to take everything they worked on and not support them. When they don't have the support they stop creating. When they stop creating we stop having dolls to buy. They stop casting. The recast companies keep making copies of copies and the market is nothing but the same doll the same thing. Without the artists this hobby loses its heart. Recasts are killing this hobby, those of us who are pro artist are trying to make ourselves heard. A good portion of the pro artist community is the people who make the wonderful clothes and accessories you all buy for your dolls. We want the artists to know yes we do still care we watch the crumbling of companies and despair because one day that might happen to our favorite company too.

I've only just come into this hobby, at first I almost bought a recast. Someone pointed out that it was a bootleg product and I turned away and found the legit sellers. I saved up. Currently I have 2 minifees 1 Feeple. 1 minifee on the way and another on layaway. It's been a year and a half. I saved. I scrimped. I stopped buying other things to have access to the funds for new dolls. I live in a shitty aweful apartment working 40 hours a week with a car payment and a cat who has chronic seizures. I save my money I budget, I don't make excuses.
