if i could cut to the heart of a core issue with the ring trilogy for a moment .

with the exception of a dead infant and a dead toddler there is not a single woman in this story that does not become a mother . and with the exception of the dead infant and the dead toddler and an old lady or two every single woman is defined to the various narrators by how fuckable she is and about half of the time her fuckability is connected to an explicitly childish trait

if i could gesture at another it was a wild choice to make the real life protagonist +hamhanded christ figure a flesh clone of a digital philosopher who as a high schooler lied to a classmate about raping a neighbor for clout

#oh and also there's the part where the big bad is an intersex rape+murder victim infecting the population with a virus compared to AIDS #impregnating innocent women who cross her path via mass media #making clones of herself that will spread and multiply and consume the world #aaaaaaaaaaand the absolutely deranged native american mysticism #and uhhhh a lot more #cw rape #cw child death
