Growing up in the early 2000s and loving Sonic, meant loving Sonic when the series was, at least by the masses, considered to have hit rock bottom. Naturally, that meant getting made fun of by other classmates who played “more adult” games. 

I knew of several people who kept it a secret that they liked Sonic because they didn’t want to deal with getting picked on. I did not. Looking back, I don’t think it was bravery or anything, I had no clue there was a stigma going on about Sonic and it never occurred to me to hide my passion. I was obsessed with the blue blur! I wore my Sonic hat everywhere and didn’t care about the stares I got. I drew art of him in class and proudly displayed it on the cover of my binder. When I got picked on, I literally laughed because- whatever- Sonic was cool! I was known as “The Sonic Kid” in 5th grade, a name which followed me threw college.

I don’t know what it was about Sonic that caused me to not care about what was socially acceptable, but I did not care one bit. I look back at old pictures of me and can’t help but laugh at how little I cared what others thought. I mean look at this photo! (PS: that’s the hat I wore everywhere)

There is something about Sonic that makes fans loyal to him. Through ups and downs, they stick around. Even the fans that didn’t proclaim their love of the Sonic series during the Dark Ages still continued to love it even though it wasn’t the popular thing to like. 

Heck, even the younger fans today persevere and continue to love the franchise no matter what critics are saying.

Laundry Day by Lithium Amaranth

Kirishima HATED doing laundry.

Absolutely hated it.

With the willpower of a petulant child required to finish his chores with no allowance, he picked up his heavy basket and began his task. Kirishima liked to take the stairs whenever he had to do laundry. He enjoyed the minor workout he received and it made something about doing this chore more worthwhile to him.

“Oi! Watch it idiot!” he heard a voice shout at the same time he felt the pressure of his basket bumping into someone. He immediately froze and moved his basket to the side to see who he hit.

Ah shit.

Or; Kirishima and Bakugou are strangers living in the same apartment complex that share a number of awkward and random encounters with each other. Eventually, one insanely awkward encounter on laundry day leads to something finally developing between the two neighbors.
