Long time, no post // Polar Vortex in California

Pre-solstice check-in, a few years late.

It was my last day volunteering at a school I’ve been working at for two years, and it’s getting really chilly on the Central Coast.

When you’re trying to find a good picture face.

You’d think the most prominent surf city on California’s Central Coast would be warmer. Not pictured: The hoodie I wore literally all day.

A note on the shorts: Though I forever have a gap at the waistline to any non-stretchy pants, these generally hold up their shape until the end of my day. That being said, these are also the highest-waisted budget-friendly shorts I’ve found. Unfortunately, they’re from Target’s last summer season, but I figure similar cuts are likely available this season, and with end-of-summer sales starting, I’d thought I’d give them a shout-out. Happy Back To School!

We had tapas and sangria, and then we met some real dogs and some fake dogs. #summer2016, am I right? Some short stories: I thrifted these sunglasses hastily just before a hike (old ones lost and forecast sunny), the t-shirt is from a concert last summer (three hours wait on a Monday night), the lipstick was an unexpected and awesome gift for bridesmaiding last month (blush pink dress and minimal motel room), and I’ve been wearing this skirt maybe once per week since I got it in the spring (unintentional capsule wardrobe).

It’s just starting to be light enough to take blog photos in my neighborhood after my usual evening train home from work. Even so, without the help of a selfie stick or neighborhood brick walls, my self-timer photography is coming out a little fuzzy. Hopefully this is coming off as ‘artistically dreamy.’

In an attempt to force us further into opposite aesthetics, Emma gifted me with this skirt for Christmas. It’s quite the fancy thing, but I’ve been wearing it to my shorts-friendly office for the last few months. The top is something I got in college to dress up my usual skinny jeans routine for parties. Plain black loafers keep the whole thing from being too airy.
