“A Wreath for the Beloved” by Irina Vorobyova (1973)

Upplands rune inscriptions U 623 Runestone U 623 stands in Jursta, Bro parish, Upplands-Bro Municipality in Sweden. Carved from granite, it is about 1.4 meters high and 1.3 meters wide, with runes measuring 7–8 centimeters. The stone is exceptionally well preserved. Its inscription tells that Gyrid, together with her sons Sigvid and Sigfast, raised the stone in memory of Vifast, their father. The monument reflects the strong family ties and commemorative traditions characteristic of the Viking Age in Uppland.
