                    Once he began to talk, to move, she began to walk backwards. There was no way in hell this was real, no way--then she felt his breath, the heat radiating off his body, and she knew. She knew then.

                    Had their efforts really all been in vain?

                    Validar was too close to the castle. Chrom was out with the knights, chasing off bandits from Ylissean borders, and Lucina was still in her crib. Lucina. No. She couldn't let Validar get to her baby. She couldn't let him corrupt the one still unborn. Talya's hand covered her swollen belly.

" .. hm? "

Inside is a small crown made of flowers—fake flowers, of course, so it’ll last, but they’re beautiful all the same, varying in shades of blues and purples. “I thought you might like it.”

    「♛」» ”Oh, mother…” She gently took the flowers from the box. They might have been fake, but Lucina held them like they were valuable artifacts. Her fingertips ran across the petals and she looked up at the tactician with a smile.

    「♛」» ”These are lovely! Thank you so much!” She reached over to give her mother a hug, the smile never fading from her lips. She reached up to take her tiara off her head, replacing it with the flower crown.

                    The hug was returned with a bright smile that Talya only reserved for people special to her. When her daughter placed the crown of flowers on her head, Talya clasped her hands in front of her chest.

                    "You're absolutley beautiful," she whispered, reaching out to caress Lucina's cheek with the back of her hand. While Lucina was a fierce warrior, she knew that her daughter could still be feminine if she wanted to.
