FATED features the following broad species classes. Further species lore for subtypes (for example, a wyvern) should be submitted in the worldbuilding forum for a character creating that type of creature at the time of their application for staff review.
DIVINE. These represent the gods of specific pantheons. Determining their precise history as well as what they're up to now, along with their current religious practices, is up to you. Divine characters are immortal and unkillable, though they can be trapped, imprisoned, or reduced to their parts, like how Cronus has been imprisoned by the Olympians. Divine gods have particular domains of influence and cannot use their powers outside their domain (for instance: Ra, the sun god, cannot make someone sing and dance).
FAERIE. The faeries are organized into courts. The first claimant of a court is responsible for defining and submitting its lore in the worldbuilding forum for staff review at the time of their application. High fae are immortal (but can be killed), and other faerie creatures experience substantially longer lifespans than humans. All fey creatures have access to illusion magic and most can glamour themselves. Fey magic usually involves special emphasis on bargains, promises, and bonds in addition to elemental, wild magic. Fey are vulnerable to iron and are also subject to the power of true names — knowing a thing's name is, in itself, power. You should apply with the name they go by.
DAEMON. The messengers of the gods, daemons are celestial entities that work for order or for chaos, depending on which god they report to. Not all gods elect to use daemons. The player of the god and/or the player of the daemon should work together to submit lore for the daemons of that particular deity. A daemon is typically a converted form of a pneuma, mortal, or beast and may still have some of their original traits, but their powers are enhanced by their patron deity. While working for a god, a daemon's lifespan is extended and suspended, but remember: gods can revoke their favor just as easily as they grant it.
PNEUMA. The umbrella name for spirits, sylphs, nymphs, dryads, sirens, and other such creatures; pneuma typically have an elemental origin and were originally crafted by the gods to give voice to the earth. Upon creating a pneuma of a new type, please remember to submit your lore with your app. Their magic is usually elemental in some way, though in rare instances, pneuma of less tangible elements, like light, shadow, or song have been known to exist.
BEASTS. Beasts is the umbrella name for mythological creatures of FATED. All kinds of fairytale creatures, from Pegusus to Chimera exist in this context. None are immortal, but their lifespans can range from that of an ordinary living thing to being centuries long. Upon creating a beast of a new type, please remember to submit your lore with your app. Beasts have access to less magic than pneuma, usually, but access to their non-humanoid shape often grants them additional powers, such as flight or elemental manipulation.
REINCARNATIONS. Heroic, legendary, or mythological reincarnations belong in this species if they were not reincarnated into one of the categories above. Your profile should make it clear if the character is a reincarnation and you must claim the reincarnation in our claims list. How much memory the reincarnation has gained is entirely up to you at character creation.
MORTALS. Mortals are ordinary humans living in extraordinary times. Mortals have no particular magic of their own, though many participate in the traditions and rituals of their pantheon. Magical objects, artifacts, or illegal ambrosia can grant mortals the ability to use limited amounts of magic, and they can also be subject sometimes to boons or curses provided by the gods or high fae, with the consent of another player.
