   A stray curl burns across Onica’s closed eyes, flaming red.    Once, Tavra would have reached out, gentle fingers stroking the strand away.    Now…    The spider shifts on Onica’s pillow. Eyes unblinking, it stares, fractured sight slowly filling with sunshine.    Dawn finds Onica eventually. She groans.    “Damn the suns…”    Tavra would have laughed, would have leaned in until the fall of her own hair shaded Onica from the day.    The spider murmurs, “I would. Were I able.”    Onica cracks an eye. Smiling.    “...your raincloud is already doing wonders, my love.”    And for all that a spider cannot do so…    Tavra laughs.
