Quizllia was a sites that was used for quizzes and fanfiction. The sites was created in the early 2000′s; would be bought by Viacom (know for Teen Nick, and nickelodeon); then would be closed down in 2014; This was because the user base had moved to other sites or have grown up (meaning that they lost interest in what they where doing on the site). It is also a case of how changing  owners can infect a digital culture; if use change a site to much with more reluations and rules people would end up going to another site.

As for myself I remember using the site and leaving it for other sites such as FanFiction.net or DeviantArt; this was because these sites for easier to use for the case of FanFiction.net and DeviantArt was uodated more often.   

Fanfiction predates the the internet; not only with fanfiction; Like the fanfiction story A Trekkie's Tale by  Paula Smith  that introduced due to the term “Marry Sue” which movie was released in the year 1973.  Sherlock homes fanfiction “goes as far back as the 1800s.” ( Pinto, web theovertake.com).  Even haveing a crossover that resorted to a copyright dispute; Where the name “Sherlock Holmes” had to be changed to Herlock Sholmes. Fanfiction has been around for a long time; Yet thanks to the internet more people can enjoy reading stories for other people for free about their favorite characters or fandom. We have created or own codes for paring names, abbreviations (such as, Au which means  Alternate Universe ), to phases that give an description in one or two words.

Real People Fiction, or RPF is when a faniction writer writes a fanfiction not about a media fandom, but real life people such as actors. To most fanficton writers this type of fanfiction is considered “creepy”. This is because it is an though to be an  invasion of privacy. 

Just hearing  Dylan Sprouse reading fanfiction that pair him and his twin brother together makes me cringe. This is because even though he is having fun and laughing at it makes me think with the fanfiction he is reading it the tamest what is the least tame; Their actors not a characters form a TV Show.  

Another example which is form TV show Supernatrual which the main characters find that there is a book series about their lives. This shows the invasion of privacy that people think about with RPF. Even though in the they are characters form a TV Show.; In the TV show they are real and should  they as real people should being able find it as an invasion pf privacy. They found be able to say not “fanfiction about me” and be respected for their dissension .  just like how Ann Rice has the right to say that she does not what fanfiction about her world nor her characters.

There  are when two or more different fandoms are are brought together in the form of FanFiction or other media. In a crossover gives characters that might not be able to meet the ability to meet.Such as if the Doctor form Doctor who traveling to Hogwarts. Or having a canon character from one fandom living in the “world” of the other; and the reader and the writer explore what kinda of life they would have. This could be that they were adopted by someone in that word; Or that they passed a way and were reincarnated as another character from the other “word”. An example would be in the FanFiction, Be Sunny and Make Merry where the main characters of the Anime / Manga One Piece are reincarnated as characters from Harry Potter.

The great thing is that it the characters that they are reincarnated as are completely different then who they were (other then one). For the most part they keep their “One Piece” personalities so that the story would not be a rehash of Harry Potter but more of how the characters of One Piece would react. For example in Harry potter and the Philosopher's stone (sorcerer's stone), Harry and Ron defeat the mountain troll in the Girls bathroom with by hitting it with its own club with the hep of a spell. In the FanFiction its Harry / Luffy, Zabini / Zoro, and Draco / Sanji that fight the troll by fighting it with physical attacks. Its not how the characters of harry Potter would react; yet how they would react as hey would in “One Piece”.

 Though the  term “crossover” is a term four a type of FanFiction it does not mean that all crossovers are FanFiction. This is when the creators or the company that owns the rights to the characters works with another to make an “official” crossover. Such as Marvel working With DC to make an comic book crossover.

Both Constructive Criticism and Flames are types of Feedback from the reader of an FanFiction to the writer that are meant to “criticize”. Yet both do so in completely different ways. 

In the case of Constructive Criticism is meant to help an writer to get better by telling what they could improve on. This could be by pointing out and even showing how to fix spelling and grammar mistakes. If the wording is a bit off the reader suggest how to fix it. Constructive criticism is not meant to be mean to the writer but to help them improve their skills. 

An example of constructive criticism would be if someone forgot to put the quotation marks and the reader points it out.

With Flames on the other hand are meant to be mean to the writer. Its a form of cyber bullying that is masked as criticism. Even a flamer on FanFiction.net says so; “ I know he’s mean; I know he does not discriminate by age, and yes, it’s bullying–-however, there is usually a good reason why he targeted your story.” ( Honest101, p 4). 

If these people really wanted to help they could of used constructive criticism. This is because constructive criticism is how we learn. A teacher is not going to tell their student that their writing is so bad that monkey could do better. No the teacher would tell the student what went wrong and what they can work on so they can do better next time.

Feedback to fanfiction writers should be more about giving advice and in joying our love for the same fandoms.

The term OCC which means Out of character can also be used to describe works that are not necessarily “FanFiction” (as in works of literature that are made on the internet) yet are not made by the original creator; Which still qualifies them as FanFiction.

These can be works of fiction that are made after the “original creator” as has passed away of a certain amount of time making the works go into public domain; which means that the work is not under copyright anymore. As well as adapting anything from books to comics to the big and small screens.  

For example Netflix’s Death Note which was based of a Japanese comic book (Manga and Anime). Completely changes the characters. In the original the protagonist Light Yagami is cold and calculating he has a form of morbid sense of justice. and sociopath.In the Netflix movie he his name is Light Tuner and he the complete opposite he not cold nor calculating. He scared of the notebook. The characterization of Ligth Yagami was given to another character Mia Sutton. Mia’s comic counterpart Misa Amane was known for being an idiot.

occ is an acronym for “ Out of Character“ not to be confused for OC which is an acronym for “: Original Character”. OCC is typical when in a FanFiction a ‘canon” character acts in a way that completely  contracts how they are portrayed in the series. Such as a FanFiction that set in series of Harry Potter; Where Harry turns to the dark arts because his friends where just using him. In the book and movie series his friends are his friends not just because of his frame; Yet because of who he is. His first counter with Ron he denfed him from Draco Malfoy; Which let both of them to be friends. With Hermione he and Ron fought a troll to save her; and even the book stated that after that anyone would be friends.

An example of a FanFiction with OCC characters

X Reader is a type of story that it is most of the time written in the second person perspective.For example, “You went hoe after a hard day at work.” In “X-Reader” fanfiction the writer will normally use  variations, such as Y/N for your name instead of making an name. For example, “Y/N you did it you are the best” said Bob.

X-Reader and the second person perspective are exposed to be interactive; yet to me their no their not this is because to me they read like an Mad lips that you got for the library and can’t write your answers in. In my own opinion I think that the first person perspective is more interactive not only does it not use variations for the main characters personality; it makes a main character with their own personality which in turn makes that character more relatable.

 I have however found some stories that were written in the second person perspective that I did like and found in engaging just not as much as books and fanfiction that were written in the first person perspective or ether the third person perspective

Is Mary Sue is a term for a fictional character that is seemingly perfect with all most no flaws; or with the character has flaws the flaws themselves are met to make the character adorable such as being clumsiness. The term get is origins form an Star Trek fan fiction story made in the year 1973 by Paula Smith. The term is used to describe Self Insert or OCs

When someone writes a Character that has no flaws to most people their boring. A character needs flaws to be interesting and truly a character, because If we don’t have flaws ourselves are we really human?

Some writers start out by writing fan-fiction. Such as Writer E.L James who wrote “Fifty shades” series started out as “Twilight” fan-fiction. Other then it starting out as fan-fiction and being romances both “Fifty Shades” and “Twilight” have nothing in common. “Twilight” being a teen romance with vampires and werewolf, and “Fifty shades” being an adult only book with sexual (very sexual) conduct. As an fan-fiction “Fifty shades” was called “Master of the Universe” 

In E.L James case It seemed that she was writing an AU ( alternate universe ) using the Twilight characters. An AU is basically using characters form a series (form any where) and putting them in your on setting. Such as, having the characters live in a different time period. In E.L James case Edward was an CEO of a company, much like Grey.All it look like she did was polish put the story and change the  names. Seeing that she used an completely different story and only used the Twilight characters to create the story it does not infect copyright. If she used the Twilight characters, the same setting, and just had more characters it would. This is because the Stephanie Meyer technically owns Bella, Edward, and any other characters she created.

Copyright laws "original works of authorship." it can last form 70, 95, to 120 years after the author has passed way.  With fanworks such as fan fiction, and fan art it can be a grey area. 

According to the article above to creators can think fan works are not harmful to them. To me it depends on the fans; this is because on site like deviantart you can find fans selling their fan art or fiction for money; which can hurt the creator because the fan is using the creators characters and make an profit. fan works should be about showing your love for an work of fiction. 

I it depends on the creator, Ann Rice for one does not like fan works and has said  "I do not allow fan fiction.” It is her right as an creator to be against fan works; This is because she hold the copyright to her books and characters.
