"You would think my surgical skills would have been helpful in designing this gift--but it seems the item simply did not wish to cooperate.", Kikyou teased, bandaged fingers held out a velvet box towards her beloved. Within the box, laid handcrafted beads smoothly sanded, painted and threaded onto a red string. It was a bracelet with seven beads specifically, each bead had a letter carved into it: d-e-a-r-e-s-t. The letters themselves, were painted with a mixture of white and gold speckled paint.
"This gift was supposed to have been given in time for Valentine's Day, but alas, it did not happen. So I apologize for the tardiness." While she knew she did not need to necessarily apologize to Sesshomaru, it still felt apt to do so.
"And--as you can tell, it is not charmed." It may seem like an unnecessary tidbit but it was important to say nonetheless, at least in her view. The last person she had given beads to--was a century or so ago for similar and different reasons. Those beads had been charmed as a means to protect that person from themselves, as well as the people around him. It had also been a demonstration of love and affection.
It was fair to assume he knew about her past gift giving experiences.
"It is simply a bracelet made to show how much I've come to care for you. After all, what else can I get a demon of your age, hm?" Her brown hues shimmered with affection as her gaze softened further. Soft lips found his cheek and then his jaw. "Happy Valentine's Day, my dearest."

Sesshomaru looked over the beads created with great care and love. He didnât suspect that they would be charmed like the ones given to his half-brother many centuries ago, but the comment brought a chuckle out of him. It was quite the cute comment, one that he hadnât even considered- and yet, even if she had charmed them, he wouldnât mind.
He would never dare to cause her any harm, but you could never be too sure of the future. The times were peaceful, but that didnât mean enemies didnât exist. Curses and spells still existed, even if the main populace treated it like folklore. So, if she wanted to charm the bracelet to ensure that the worst couldnât possibly happen- such as Sesshomaru being controlled, heâd approve of her judgement. Of course, not charming it was testament to how much she trusted him, which heâd also approve. In simpler terms, regardless of what Kikyo decided, heâd deem she could do no wrong.
The gift was indeed quite late, as itâs also surpassed white day, but that was just semantics as far as he was concerned. What did strict dates really matter to a being who lived for a length of time that humans couldnât begin to fathom? âThank you, Kikyo, this Sesshomaru will treasure the gift.â Perhaps he could request a spell to keep the bracelet safe from any harm as it would be a shame to allow the passage of time to rob him of the remnants of Kikyoâs memories for when the inevitable does come to pass.
âIt is an opportune time to gift you a gift as well. You can consider it a late white day gift.â Inside of his sleeves, he searched through the hidden pockets to fish out a small wooden box. Inside was a ring. The band was a white-gold while the center-piece was a combination jade piece with swirls of purple and green. It was carved into to look like a bellflower with leaves. It was set in the middle of the ring carefully to keep it in place. If you looked at the band, youâd also see a visage of leaves skillfully carved into the gold. Inside the wooden box was also a white-gold chain.
âFinding a jade piece with the coloration that would be suitable for this ring took time, but this Sesshomaru is pleased by the end result. Would you, Kikyo, do me the honor of officially accepting your place by my side as my future wife and the âmotherâ of the Gumi?â Theyâve been together for some time now, and now that heâs finished curating the ring that satisfied his standards, he didnât want to wait any longer.
