REPASA LOS ARTISTAS QUE NO HAY QUE PERDERSE ESTE AÑO EN LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE

Queda poco mas de un mes para Lollapalooza Chile, en la celebración de sus 10 años en el país, sin duda hay artistas que no podemos perdernos.

Volviendose el gran evento musical en Chile desde 2011, Lollapalooza ha experimentado un crecimiento y evolución considerable, haciendo año tras año una reinvencion en el concepto de eventos en vivo, donde la inclusion, la sustentabilidad, la diversidad y la transversalidad se volvieron tonica comun en su propuesta.

Por eso es que el 27, 28 y 29 de marzo de 2020, para su decimo aniversario la celebración será en grande, y la encabezará una banda ícono a nivel mundial. Guns N’ Roses, uno de los nombres más importantes del rock de todos los tiempos, debutará en Parque O’Higgins liderado por el tridente histórico que conforman Axl Rose, Slash y Duff McKagan, quienes recrearán clásicos como “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Paradise City» y “November Rain”, que seguro serán coreados por la gran mayoría de asistentes, sin duda un numero que por trascendencia, no hay que perderse

El hip hop de primera linea, siempre ha sido parte importante del cartel, esta vezno será la excepción. Travis Scott trae su parque de diversiones a Lollapalooza, para marcar su debut en escenarios nacionales y mostrar por qué es una de las voces más elogiadas y exitosas de las últimas temporadas, gracias a su tercer disco “Astroworld” de 2018, y las colaboraciones con artistas tales como Drake y Kanye West. Esta de mas decir que es un imperdible, basta con ver su documental para notar el impacto mundial que ha generado.

Por otro lado el indie rock no se queda atrás, The Strokes, la banda que destapó la escena indie en el siglo XXI, vuelve a aparecer en el cartel del festival que los vio en 2017 de la mano de hits, entre los que se cuentan “Reptilia”, “Last Nite”, “You only live once”, siendo los propulsores de la escena indie en Nueva York y en el mundo, es la oportunidad de Julian Casablancas, de reinvinidcarse con el publico chileno.

La electrónica, siempre es un punto alto para el publico mas joven del festival, en este caso, dos íconos de este siglo se presentaran en el Parque O’higgins. Por un lado, Martin Garrix, quien con 23 años se ha consagrado. Por el otro lado, Armin Van Buuren, sin duda uno de los grandes artistas que ayudo a impulsar y abrir la escena electronica a nivel mundial

Entre quienes vivirán su debut absoluto en la edición local del festival, hay que tener atención en Gwen Stefani, referente del pop, la moda y el estilo desde mediados de los 90, y que en Parque O’Higgins repasará éxitos como “Hollaback girl”, “What you waiting for?” además de sus clásicos con No Doubt.

Cuando se trata de regresos, uno muy especial será sin dudas el de Cage the Elephant, banda norteamericana que en 2020 ratifica su localía en Parque O’Higgins, tras sus pasos de 2012, 2014 y 2017. Así, la banda liderada por la carísma de Matt Shultz llegarán con el cartel de favoritos de la versión chilena, y con los temas de su disco “Social cues” (2019) listos para sonar por primera vez en Santiago.

Entre los llamados a ser un numero para tener en consideración, es James Blake, artista británico que se ha llenado de elogios gracias al trabajo que ha plasmado en cuatro discos, entre ellos el reciente “Assume form” (2019), donde ha vuelto a hacer gala de una propuesta personal, íntima y experimental.

La presencia de nombres con probado favoritismo en el público local, como Miranda! y Cultura Profética, sobresale en la nómina de artistas latinos, mientras que entre los chilenos resalta el esperado regreso de Pánico, los debuts de Cami, Denise Rosenthal y Beto Cuevas, los retornos de Javiera Mena, Pedropiedra y Camila Moreno, y la presencia de un nuevo contingente de música urbana, con artistas como Ceaese, Princesa Alba y Tommy Boysen.

Lollapalooza Chile confirma el lineup diario para su version 2020

Lollapalooza Chile, que tendrá lugar el último fin de semana de Marzo, siendo el 27, 28 and 29 del mismo mes los días elegidos, confirma la parrilla diaria de artistas.

Mientras el primer día, Viernes 27, será encabezado por Guns n´ Roses, en su regreso a Chile y a tierras sudamericanas, marcando una de las vueltas mas importantes de la ultima década en lo que es el décimo aniversario del festival.

La gira “Not In This Lifetime”, que logró reunir a Axl Rose, Slash y Duff McKagan, traerá de seguro todos sus grandes éxitos al escenario principal de Lollapalooza en Parque O’Higgins. También contará con la cautivante voz de la artista norteamericana Lana del Rey, presentando su último disco “Norman Fucking Rockwell!”de 2019.

Sin duda, un artista para tener en el radar es el músico y productor británico James Blake, cuya mezcla de sonidos y colaboraciones, lo ha expuesto y llevado al reconocimiento que un artista de esta magnitud merece; por otro lado el folk de The Lumineers, la fuerza de artistas nacionales como Cami, ademas del nuevo sonido del punk británico con Idles y la esperada reunión de Zaturno y Lenwa Dura para volver a traer a escenarios a Tiro de Gracia.

La segunda jornada, sábado 28, será cerrada por el impactante show de Travis Scott, que estará por primera vez en Chile para demostrar el por que de su popularidad y la su impacto a nivel mundial. Ese mismo día Martin Garrix, estará presente como uno de los números principales de la jornada. Con la presencia de artistas tanto internacionales como la banda A Day To Remember, Yungblud y la impresionante Rita Ora, ademas de la presencia de shows nacionales tales como el electro-pop de Javiera Mena y la irreverencia de Pablo Chill-e

La ultima jornada de domingo 29, tiene como cierre a The Strokes, liderados por Julian Casablancas, y apoyando campañas políticas como la de Bernie Sanders, vuelven a lo grande a estos escenarios, con la reputación de ser uno de los nombres más relevante del siglo en lo que a rock se refiere.

Importante también es la presencia de Gwen Stefani, que por primera vez como solista en Chile, tendrá la posibilidad de mostrar todo su repertorio y carrera en escenario para uno de los shows más llamativos y esperados del festival.

En cuanto a el indie rock, Vampire Weekend, llega con su nuevo disco “Father of the bride” además de sus multiples hits radiales. Otra artista a tener en consideración es Kacey Musgraves, tras ganar el Grammy a Mejor Álbum del Año y tener cautivado a practicamente todo el mundo, luego de sus presentaciones durante todo el 2019 en diversos festivales dentro de Estados Unidos, llega a Chile como una excelente promesa de presentación. Con gran presencia nacional, ademas de la gran cartelera de artistas extranjeros, Lollapalooza busca convertir a Chile en el centro de la música planetaria por esos tres días. Son 10 años de Lollapalooza en Chile y sin duda nadie los olvidará.

DRAB MAJESTY REFLECTS IN A MODERN MIRROR AT GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC HALL IN SAN FRANCISCO - The Los Angeles based duo brought their new album Modern Mirror with a full blend of darkwave and some  ‘80s post-punk sounds showing that the new album is more than a following step from their previous work, it’s going towards a more complex sound.

CEREMONY GETS SICK AT AUGUST HALL IN SAN FRANCISCO - The north Bay Area band mainly led by the energy of Ross Farrar and Anthony Anzaldo, brought their new album In The Spirit World Now with a full blend of hardcore punk and post-punk sounds showing the whole evolution of the band towards a totally different sound from what they used to be, but not forgetting their roots.  

THE DRUMS WENT SURFING AT AUGUST HALL IN SAN FRANCISCO - The New York artist, Jonathan Pierce, with his band The Drums, brought a full blend of poppy and indie sounds with all the audience becoming part of the whole scene. While being the first of two nights, Pierce didn’t mind on including the most well-known cuts from his catalog, such as “Days”, “Let’s Go Surfing” and “Money”. For sure all the people at the August Hall was happy with the presence of the band and the vibe they were projecting, after leaving the stage, some fans went on stage and started asking for more songs, to then the band come back for an encore that included songs like “Rich Kids” and “Blood Under My Belt” and a shout out for the opening band Chai. The night was full of energy, moshpits, and even stage dives, The Drums surfed along the August Hall.

NEW FOUND GLORY BRINGS A COSTUME PARTY AT UC THEATRE IN BERKELEY - The Flordia pop-punk band created a whole movie theater during their set presenting different costumes on stage, led by Jordan Pundik recreating different movies and scenarios, even including their Frozen “Let it Go” cover, the band hit the stage with a lot of the pop-punk intensity that’s a characteristic of the genre but that NFG sets it as a minimum requirement for every show. Crowd surfing was clearly an important part of the movie, but in the end is the band the one that created a whole costume party and was a win-win bet, the crowd was into it and seemed to enjoy the show a lot, well New Found Glory really knows how to bring a show and rule the stage.

THIS TOWN NEED GUNS GOES TO THE ZOO AT BOTTOM OF THE HILL IN SAN FRANCISCO - The emo math rock UK band presented the 10-year anniversary of their acclaimed album Animals going through emotional phases on every song of the album and also including some old cuts with the original members of the band. TTNG performed in a very emotional way, creating a symbiosis with the audience, who were clearly expecting the show to be this intense. 

NO VACATION POPS UP DREAMY SOUNDS AT GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC HALL IN SAN FRANCISCO - For a local band it’s always amazing to play at venues like GAMH, and certainly, for No Vacation, it wasn't different, in a super packed night, they showed all the dreamy sounds of their music creating different atmospheres, while some songs were more into lo-fi bedroom pop, others explored 8bit sounds and others more intensity that made everyone go crazy, making a really funny and interesting show to see.

KNUCKLE PUCK AND CITIZEN CONTRAST EMOTIONS AT GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC HALL IN SAN FRANCISCO - While Knuckle Puck went into the whole mostly pop-punk vibe, Citizen explored the grunge emo revival, even when presenting their new songs, this made a pretty exciting blend of emotions. Knuckle Puck by one side was fast-paced songs which made the venue a real hardcore arena with moshpits and stage dives, while Citizen even not being that intense in terms of interaction, it was enough to pull out the emotions of everyone.

CULTURE ABUSE BRINGS BACK THEIR ROOTS AT THE CHAPEL IN SAN FRANCISCO - The bay area band transformed the night into a punk party going through their whole catalog to explore their history from their roots to their actual sound, besides of being a party, they also showed the political engagement with the city. With a little help of their friends of Tony Molina, Dare, and the locals xNo Rightx, they clearly stated that the Bay is their place and they are not going anywhere. Hardcore is community and they represent it.

Have Mercy creates an autonomous emotion in San Francisco

Have Mercy co-exists in their inner drama and externalizes the emotions while softening the audience with intimate and profound songs on the edge of the heartbreaking and wrenching voice at Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco.

The people present appreciated the presence of Brian Swindle and his band, feeling part of the presentation and no doubt letting each song fill the space; no doubt a moving presentation in the sense of how much it is possible to keep an audience in an introspective tone, Have Mercy did it.

WEAR YOUR WOUNDS SHOW DEEP SOUNDS AT RICKSHAW STOP IN SAN FRANCISCO - Jacob Bannon explores more atmospheric sounds and generates different moody environments with Wear Your Wounds, taking distance from the chaos of Converge with darker and denser sounds, introducing layers of goth, metal, and post-rock.
