Jake Gyllenhaal Request
I read an interview where Jake gyllenhaal said “The act of making love to make a child…the real thing is life” and he’s constantly talking about how he wants children and idk I think that’s beautiful so in honor of that could u write something like y/n is pregnant and when the time to find out the gender of the baby comes he’s away for work and could only come back in like 2-3 weeks (or whatever time u see fit tbh hehe) and asked her to wait but y/n doesn’t think it’s fair and doesn’t want to and they have this fight about it but at the end it’s all fluff and teddy bears, thank you🤎✨
The day after you found out you were pregnant and told Jake, he was offered the starring role in a major movie. “This is great! A baby….a great movie….what else could happen?”
“Jake, are you sure about this? I know this role is great, but have they told you what the schedule is like?”
“I already checked with them, babe. I’ll leave in two and a half months, so I’ll be here to get through your first trimester with you. We can tell our families and friends together before I leave. And we are filming in Montreal, so I’m a quick flight away from you and can come back on weekends for your appointments.”
That’s what he had told you. And that’s what you were holding on to until you were a week away from your five month ultrasound. The ultrasound where you’d find out if you were having a boy or a girl. “Bad news, Y/N,” he said to you on facetime that night. “I found out we are flying to Scotland Friday to film some of the ending scenes. Apparently there’s a movie that will interfere with one of the other cast members' schedules, so we have to get those scenes out of the way now so she can be in it.”
“Jake, my appointment is Saturday morning.”
“I know. It looks like you are going to have to reschedule.”
“I can talk to them and see if they can push it back a week, but that’s kinda last minute.”
“I’m going to need more than a week.”
You picked up on his tone that there was more he wasn’t telling you. “How long, Jake?”
“Two months,” he admitted.
“Two months. You’re joking?” Your tone was laced with disappointment and you could feel your anger building.
“It’ll fly by before you know it.”
“I’m not waiting two months to find out what we are having, Jake.”
“What?”
“I’m going to the appointment Saturday morning, Jake. You can be there with me to find out, or you can be in Scotland and I can tell you that day when we talk. But either way, I will know Saturday.”
“That is not fair, Y/N.”
“Not fair?” You were fed up and the hormones were taking over. “You want to talk about what’s not fair. Jake, I have been going through this pregnancy by myself. All this morning sickness, the aches, the pains, the crazy cravings...they all started after you left. Which, if you forget, was two months ago. For two months I have been at this on my own because your weekend trips home,” you put in air quotes, “have happened maybe twice a month.” I wake up everyday puking and do that for two hours before I can eat anything. My feet and back hurt so bad that I only want to lay down when I’m at home; and I’ve still got 4 months to go. This whole time all that’s been getting me through has been that I would get to see you this weekend and that we would get to go find out what we are having. And then I can spend all my time alone actually having fun and shopping for our baby. And now you’re telling me you want me to wait until I’m 7 months along. Sorry, but I am not doing that.” You were not sorry. “If they can work around your co stars schedule for two months, they should be able to work around your schedule for one day.”
“Y/N-”
“You know what, Jake. I’m feeling really tired.” It wasn’t a lie, but you were mostly over dealing with this. “I think I’m going to go to bed. I’ll talk to you later. Love you, night,” you quickly hung up.
You were too upset by the conversation that you didn’t speak to him the next day, or the morning after that. And when you finally tried to call him that night, you received his voicemail. You seriously considered calling and cancelling your appointment for the next morning. But you wanted to show him that you meant what you said.
You woke up, got ready, and found yourself regretting your stubbornness from the day before. But, since the appointment was starting in half an hour, you got in the car and drove to the doctor’s office. You parked and walked to the door and found yourself very surprised when the front door opened and your husband walked out. “Jake?”
“Hey. You were right. Are right. I haven’t been there for you recently and I should have been, especially with this being our first kid. I talked it over with the director, and I’m flying over there Monday, which means you and I have today and tomorrow to go shopping for Little Man or Little Lady after this.”
“You did that for me?”
“Absolutely.” You grabbed his hand and walked into the office.

You woke up at 230 am, surprised that the sound of your baby hadn’t woken you up at 2, which was normally feeding time. Looking over in the bassinet, you found it empty. Jake’s side was empty too, so you took a wild guess to their location and walked down the hall.
Opening the door, you walked into the dimly lit pink room and saw Jake rocking your daughter and feeding her a bottle. “Hey, I didn’t know you were awake.”
“I just woke up. My body’s used to being up at 2, and I guess it woke me up to check things out. How’s she doing?”
“She’s great, just hungry. She’s almost done and is about to fall back asleep. She’s growing like a weed already.”
“I’m still hormonal, don’t make me cry this early.”
