Derek thinks he’s lucked out with the roommate situation; Scott McCall is a genuinely nice guy, considerate, relatively quiet, and has no problem keeping his side of the room clean. Since neither of them are dating anyone, they haven’t yet had the talk about what the etiquette should be if one of them wants to bring someone back to the dorm. So Derek is genuinely embarrassed when he swipes his keycard one afternoon and enters his room to hear some frantic scrambling. 

“Um, hello,” Derek says awkwardly. There’s a brown-haired girl in Scott’s bed hastily zipping up a jacket over a— bra? She scoops up her t-shirt and places it in her purse. Scott is blushing heavily, wearing only his board shorts and a sheepish expression. 

“I’ll see you in Anthro, Scott,” the girl says without any trace of embarrassment, leaving the room. 

“I’m really sorry,” Derek says. “Was that, um, Allison?” He remembers Scott mentioning his crush earlier in the quarter.

“Yeah,” Scott says dreamily. “Don’t worry about it, dude. It’s all good." 

The next day Derek is eating his lunch in the quad with Erica, sitting on the grass, minding his own business, when something hits him on the back of his head. 

"What the?”

Erica laughs delightedly, picking up the thing and handing it to him. It’s some sort of plush chicken in a square shape and he looks up to find the culprit who threw it at him. 

“Yeah, that’s right! It’s on now!" 

Oh. Oh, that’s Stiles, Scott’s best friend who hangs out in the dorm sometimes that Derek most definitely does not have a crush on. Why is he throwing this at him? 

Stiles laughs and runs off. There clearly is a joke Derek isn’t getting.

Stiles is so angry right now he can’t focus, but there’s a knocking at the door. Just think of the money, he reminds himself. All the has to do to get his fair share is to stick out this terrible idea of a marriage and then he can move out of this terrible apartment and focus on his custom furniture. 

“Dad? What are you doing here?” Stiles is really surprised to see his dad standing in the hallway.

“Oh, he called when you were out and I figured I’d surprise you and invite him over for dinner,” Derek says from behind him. 

John hugs Stiles warmly. “I can’t believe you went and got married and didn’t tell me!” he says, and then he hugs Derek, too. “And to a partner in a law firm who also supports the Mets, what a keeper.” 

“Aw, you’re too kind, John,” Derek says with a polite grin that turns smug when John walks towards the dinner setup in the far corner of the studio apartment.

John whistles admiringly. “I’m proud of you, Stiles, looks like you’re finally getting settled down.” 

“Dad, can you excuse us for a sec?” Stiles says and John is already eagerly looking over the splay of food that Derek’s spread out on the table.

“Sure thing, son,” John says, and Stiles pulls Derek into the bathroom-with-out-a-door.

Derek smirks at him. “How weird is it when your own father is going to be a character witness for me when we’re in court? I mean, obviously I’m trying harder to make this marriage work. I can’t wait to see his face when you tell him what’s really happening here.” 

“Actually, can we not?” Stiles asks quickly.

The One After Vegas

“So,” Scott says, nudging Stiles with his shoulder.  "How was it?  Did you get married by Elvis?  And, dude, never going to forgive you for not inviting me.“

Pausing the movie, Stiles turns and makes a face at Scott.  ”What the hell are you talking about?”

"You and Derek?  You got married in Vegas, right?”

“Uh, no?”

“But you were in Vegas.”

"Yeah, because Derek was doing a talk at the furry con.  Wait, that’s not — wow, that is so not what I meant.”

Derek scans the classroom. There’s a few flushed faces, some stunned expressions, a couple of sniggers from the kids in the back row. All in all, it’s everything one might expect from advanced sex ed class.

“All right,” Stiles says. He claps his hands. “Let’s have a short break before we tackle the concepts of sexual orientation and gender identity. Go ingest some protein, your brains are gonna need it.”

Derek’s students filter out of the room in a cloud of hysterical chatter and laughter, and Derek acutely feels like he needs to apologize on their behalf. He unfolds his arms and pushes away from the wall. “I’m sorry,” he says to Stiles, who’s rearranging his papers on the desk, unperturbed. “They’re— I guess this is a lot for some of them to take in.”

Stiles grins at him. “I’ve been doing this for about five years,” he says. “I’ve given presentations like these all across the country. Trust me, at this point there is literally nothing a teenager could do in the face of sexual education that would surprise me.”

Derek is tired. There’s a faint tingling running up and down his spine as his skin knits itself back together again, and his arm feels as though someone’s shoved it into a waste disposal unit. Stiles is clattering about in the bathroom, muttering about Derek’s shoddy first aid kit. 

“You don’t even have band-aids!“ 

"It’s fine,” Derek leans back against the bed, shuts his eyes and lets Stiles’ concern wash over him like a comforting blanket. After all this time, it still feels surprising to know Stiles cares, deep down. They don’t often say it, but it’s there in every action, every step towards one another at the first sign of danger, every angry word after a risk that only just paid off, every injury that’s clucked around and taken care of before they part ways. 

Zack and Miri: initially platonic friends filming porn for cash

“I’m, uh…where should I…” Derek stammers out, bites his tongue before he says something embarrassing like where do you want me. He takes a deep breath, tries to surreptitiously wipe his hands, clammy with cold sweat, before he picks up the video camera. It’s a new model and it was expensive, he spent nearly all the money he earned during his summer job on it, he can’t afford to accidentally drop it just because Stiles is frying his brain cells.

Well, not Stiles per se. The prospect of seeing Stiles naked, spread out on the bed, pleasuring himself. He can picture it, the long curve of his neck thrown back in pleasure, strong strokes growing more and more frantic as his orgasm builds, the soft moans that will inevitably tumble out of that enticing mouth - 

“Porn has lied to me.”

Stiles sounds so affronted and betrayed as he stares down at Derek’s chest that Derek can’t help but laugh. His sides are actually beginning to hurt, he’s been laughing so much the past thirty minutes.

Stiles swats at his shoulder. “Shut up, I’m working through some serious trauma here.”

“You’ve seen dozens of people die but finding out that licking chocolate of someone’s chest isn’t as sexy as people say it is traumatises you?”

I saw this and I couldn’t help myself. The pick up line Derek uses is from this installment of the Stiles Pick Up Lines series by teamsciles. Bc it’s been stuck in my head as a go-to bad pick up line for at least a month now lol. Don’t ask why I have a go-to bad pick up line.

“Dude, no.”

“You haven’t seen him Scott,” Stiles tells his friend over the phone. He’s attempting to use his menu as a partition and peering around the edges conspicuously to make sure Unfairly Attractive Waiter isn’t lurking nearby. He looks as though he could be a lurker. But like…in a good way.

“I don’t have to see him to know that you’re about to get overly attached, completely bomb, and spend the next week on my couch with one of those extra-large pizzas from Antonio’s.”

“That seems like a hasty assumption,” he mutters under his breath.

“Allison is coming home tomorrow, Stiles. I can’t babysit you.”

“You should probably tone on the judginess right now. Allison has literally only been gone for three days, and you’ve been talking like you’re in the Sahara and she’s the last glass of water on the planet.” Stiles pushes the menu down flat onto the table and splays his hand across the center fold. “Also. I resent the implication that I am in need of a nanny when in distress.”

“You’re in need of a nanny on a good day,” Scott tells him flatly. “In distress, you need an entire daycare center.”

“Shit!” Stiles whispers harshly. “He’s coming back, bro. I gotta jet.”

“Stiles! Make sure you don’t say ‘gotta jet’ at any point in the conversation! Stil—”
