I was tagged by the lovely @davidthetraveler to do this! This was actually quite a lot of fun! Based off his take on this, I really think he should read the one shot Snow In Venice if he hasn’t already cuz OH BOY he’d eat that up. Anyways here we go

Part One Part Two Part Three

It’s been so long since I updated this last, I’m extremely sorry. I really loved this story and I had it planned out but I lost motivation to continue it for some time. But today, I had the modivation. So here it is! I made a mistake on part two where I forgot to link part three, so some of you will need to go back and read it if you haven’t already. This update is really messy and I don’t really know if it makes sense, so I’m sorry. I hope you enjoy it anyways- and if there and any major plot holes let me know and I will try to clear them up! Finally, I have a question. Would you like part 5 to be in bullet, or one shot form? If so, what would you like to see? Let me know please!

Warnings: Swearing, implied occurrence of a make out session, dirty jokes, RENT spoilers (which I warn you to skip), implied emotional/physical abuse. If I miss anything let me know! 

Emile was serious. He wanted to take it slow. And they did!

Emile told Roman and Patton what happened, and while they were ready to fite Remy when they heard about the kiss- they settled down and were proud of Emile for being honest and happy that Remy was understanding.

Don't worry, Thomas eventually found some candles!

They actually found one in the back of Virgils jeans along with wax on the back of his shirt

hMmM how did that get there hmmmm??

*cough* Roman is a handsy boi *cough*

Roman and Virgil get caught making out maybe every two weeks. They're gross but everyone loves them cause they tease and flirt shamelessly and it's hilarious.

Remy and Emile where talking during a rehearsal break about them because why not. Emile said that their fusion name was Prinxiety.

Remy asked why.

“Because Remmmm. Roman is regal and refined pearl royalty and Virgil is stressed out and trying his best.”

“But honeybeeeeeeee- Virmen is more fun! Like Vermin- Rats…”

“Remy no…”

“Remy YES”

And Remy hairflips because he had his Angel wig on and Emile dies laughing.

The topic comes up who was the better flirter out of Roman and Virgil.Thomas was going over notes with “Prinxiety” so everyone else (even Talyn and Joan) joined in the debate.

There was Team Prince and Team Anxiety

Patton refused to pick sides because “I love my kiddos to much!” He chose to be the facilitator instead.

Emile, Clarimonde, Corbin, Sloane, and Joan were team Prince- and Remy, Elliot, Kai, Talyn, Logan were team Anxiety

They placed bets on who would be pinning who up against the wall when someone found them kissing next. Points went to respective teams whenever flirting battles were won.

When Virgil made a dirty joke regarding Roman in fishnets- Roman turned red and left the room. Kai and Elliot high fived and Remy winked and Emile. Logan kept score.

Roman grabbed Virgil by his belt loop and spun him around into a kiss. Think of that scene in To All The Boys Ive Loved Before.

Clarimonde and Joan would whooped and insisted Logan award bonus points. After much debate in the “Prinxiety Cult” group chat, Patton decided to award extra points. Emile blew a kiss to Remy the next day as he complained about it being unfair. It was fun and passed the time.

Meanwhile Emile and Remy would talk all the time. They would talk about cartoons, music, the show, and their friends.

“You seem really close to Patton and Roman.”

“They took me under their wing. Me, a little freshman. I feel like I constantly owe them for their support, but im there for them too. That's how friendship works, I guess. A two way street”

That comment has Remy thinking for a while.

Remy and Emiles scenes together got even better if possible.

if you want to watch Rent which i would recommend you might not want to read the next two bullet points

when remy has to die as Angel, Emile actually cries but stops as soon as he sees Remy in the audience next to Thomas during rehearsal. As result, Emile asks that Remy be out of view.

Thomas is reluctant because he doesn't want to tire out his kids. He only makes Remy leave every two run throughs of the scene to make sure Emile is ready for the show and can sing through tears. He eventually can and its devastating to watch.

Another conversation that comes up between them is parents. And Remy doesn't open up at first. But Emile talks about Dot and Larry and Remy gets that longing and terrible feeling he used to when they were younger. So he shuts down.And Emile notices

“Remy… Im not going to force you to talk...But you seem upset whenever I bring up my parents. Do you not want me to mention them?”

And Remy breathes and says

“No- I just wish I had a mom and a dad who stayed around… parents who gave a shit and were normal and who i felt proud of. And i don't want to feel bad and envious but I do. I ran away from it… I ran away from you and I'm sorry.”

Remy bites his lip because he doesn't want to cry.Emile smiles sadly and presses his hand to Remy's face. He grabs it with his free hand and sighs.

“You aren't running away now. You talked to me and it means alot.”

And slowly they work through the bumps.

ITS TEC WEEK BITCHESSSSSSSS *honk honk from.hell*

Aww damn. Costume makeup and mics everyday. Running through the show and ohhh boiiiii

Lighting and tec and STRESSSSSSSS

Its scary cause for most of them its their first show.

Roman and Clarimonde know what they're doing and carry the team.

On their offtime- Remy and Emile took a nap together under a set piece.

Clarimonde and Elliot took blackmail photos and giggled. The duo walked off with interlaced fingers amd Clarimonde thought for a split second that napping with Elliot like that would be nice.

Thomas eventually found Remy and Emile and shook them awake lightly and smiled warmly. They were embarrassed but not upset. Remy liked the feeling of Emiles arms secure around him.

And Remy finds himself falling in love. Actually falling in love and knowing it and feeling it.

He doesn't know who to talk to about it. Not Emile because they're taking it slow. Not his parents. The thought makes him laugh. And now he realizes he doesnt have any close friends. Remy gets red faced in front of a makeup mirror breathing heavy but keeping composed until he isnt.

He sees Clarimode in the reflection and throws on a smile.

“Hey Clari babe. What's happening?”

And Clarimonde raises an eyebrow cause she's not fucking stupid.

“Remy I know we broke up and whatever but I think we are the kind of people who pick up the pieces and move forward as normal as we can, right? So spill the beans. Why do you look like a tomato.”

And he reluctantly tells her about Emile.

Because if there's anyone Remy can trust its her.

And she listens. And hearing all the ooey gooey details of his love for Emile in person doesn't sting as much as it used to. She looks at it objectively.

“Look, I know you're scared of commitment. I know you're scared of loving someone and then them leaving or using you. I don't know why, but I know. The best advice I can give you is to trust. Emile isn't the person who hurt you or is hurting you. Emile loves you and he is one of the nicest, empathetic people on the planet. Trust him.”

And Remy nods and she helps him take his makeup off.

And Remy goes home. His mom is yelling and Janus cries. Janus sneaks into Remy’s room around 1 AM as he read over his lines. Janus has his little snake blanket Remy saved up his money to get him for christmas one year.

“Remy… I can't sleep…” And he has watery crocodile eyes and Remy frowns and holds him close. “Remy… can you sing something… I know momies usually do that and Mom would yell at you if she knew but I-”

“Of course I can, bubs”

So Remy sings

“Live in my house, I'll be your shelter. Just pay me back with one thousand kisses. Be my lover, I'll cover you~” And attacks Janus with little kisses causing him to squeal. Remy chases him around and teaches him a version of the dance him and Emile do. And Janus giggles and smiles.

“I think they meant it when they said you can't buy love- Now I know you can rent it, a new lease you are my love on life, be my life” And Janus falls in love with Remy's voice. Now when Janus cant sleep he comes in and they sing the song.

When Remy looks exhausted at rehearsal the next morning Emile notices and pulls him aside.

“Hey, are you okay? You can barley dance around without losing footing. I see bags under your eyes. Is everything okay at home?”

“Nothing's ever okay” Remy laughs hollowly and Emile pats his shoulder.

“But last night was actually okay…”

And he tells Emile about it and he smiles and kisses him on the cheek.

Remy blushes and Emile teases him

“Remy??? Blushing??? Unheard of!”

Rent scowelles, but he’s smiling

And from their corner they hear a thud and look over and see Roman pining Virgil against the wall.

The duo cough and Prinxiety stops.

“Wow, can't resist a man in a crop top and fishnets, huh Virge?”

“Shut the fuck up Remy”

And they all laugh and Roman is flustered. Emile winks and Roman flips him off.

Emile whispers in Remys ear

“One for Team Prince and for Team Emile”

Remy lightly shoves him and Emile giggles.

Tec week is over and everyone is exhausted.

But everyone is extremely nervous but ready for shows!!!

Logan and Clarimonde got student body and leadership to advertise the show and a lot of people actually want to see it now????

Which is cool because it's about Aids and gay couples and drug abuse but its also about a family of friends and LOVE.

But now the pressure is here!

And all everyone can do is put on the best performance they can.

And while everyone is stressed, Remy by far is the most stressed. Emile immediately notices. Remy acts alot.more extra and pushy the last two practices.

The week ends and Thomas gives them the weekend to rest up and then opening night on Monday! Remy practically disappears come Friday.

Emile assumes he’s sleeping or studying but the radio silence bothers him. So he decides to take a risk and go to his house against his better judgement…

And he walks through the field. A familiar path. But so incredibly nostalgic. Emile had only watched Remy walk home this way and driven by his house 4 times- so the experience was foreign and natural all the same. He feels the echoes of their childish laughter and tenses up a bit. He hears his own cries as he waited for the boy that never came back.

Eventually Emile stood in front of the house and got a terrible feeling. The curtains were drawn tight and he heard a rustling from inside. The lawn was badly kept and he saw cigarette buds along the deteriorating brick lining. A little glass shard was in an empty flower box and that was all the confirmation Emile needed to know something was up.

He could hear his parents warning him about going into “questionable” homes unprepared and uneducated, but he was worried for his friend okay?

So he knocked and resisted the urge to run back home. Almost immediately a disheveled Remy opened the door.

“Hey babe… What are you doing here?” and Emile was taken aback because he looked genuinely nervous and he wouldn't let that stand.

“I was worried about you, Rem. You didn't answer my texts and you seemed off during the week and I wanted to make sure you're alright.”

And Remy looked at a clock and a callander and back outside. The gears in Emiles head turned.

“Im okay. You can come in for a hot second just as long as you're out by 8.”

Remy let Emile in. The house was small and obviously a bit more on the cheaper and cramped side. There were few family pictures. One of Remy but only when he was smaller than what Emile could remember. He noticed several other small details and saw a small boy cowering behind a torn couch cushion.

“Is this Janus?”

“You know it. He’s shy…”

“Hello there, kiddo. Im Emile. I see you got a snake there…” And Janus shrunk in on himself. Emile paused. How could a kid raised in an environment with such clutter and madness be comfortable? So he put his acting skills to use.

“You know, I'm actually quite scared of snakes!”

Janus’s eyes lit up. He smirked- something Emile didn't know children could do- and threw the plushie at his face. Emile got up and shouted.He flailed his hands in the air and smiled when Janus gigled.

Remy furrowed his eyebrows together and simultaneously fell in love with Emile more.

Janus saw Remy's face and smirked once again knowingly.

Remy snapped out of his staring and narrowed his eyes at Janus.

Janus hugged Emile (his legs basically) suddenly and grabbed his snake. He says “You're pretty! My brother thinks you're beautiful though, I think.”

Emile turns red and Remy coughs. Janus plays dumb but Remy knows that he knew EXACTLY what he said.

“Okay, to the bath with you! You're all musty and crusty from the park! We don’t tolerate that. Don't forget to actually use the soap bar! Be gone, thot!” Janus giggles and runs up the stairs. Emile smiles and turns around.

“Sweet kid!”

Remy scoffs “Sweet isn't the word id use but yes, I love him”

Emile laughs- but then suddenly becomes serious

“Okay, but Remy. What is the-?”

“I practically the saw light bulbs go off in your mind, and calculations be calculated in your head the second you walked through the door, sweetheart. Don’t become Logan on me and hide your opinion with fact. Why are you here? To pity me? Save me?”

“Well I can’t help it if I feel sorry for you Remy. Look around!” Emile hesitates “Sorry that was harsh and uncalled for-“

“No, it was honest. Honesty is the best policy. I don’t know why I think I deserve it though”

“You do! Everyone does”

“Emile, have I even been the least bit honest with you when it counts?”

That made Emile silent for a moment

“Thought so”

“Well be honest now. What’s happening?”

“I’m falling in love with you, and I’m scared.”

Emile turned red. He didn’t know what to say. Remy had confessed something Emile had always wanted to hear, but it wasn’t perfect. It was more innocent. More human. It wasn’t this grand thing and they didn’t go off into the sunset. He didn’t feel upset, disappointed, that it wasn’t what he thought it was going to be. He was more shocked that he had even said it at all- especially in such a vulnerable- not composed way.

“I was scared to. But I learned to trust you. Even when you hurt me I still believed in you. Even when I had to step back, even when I was angry with you, I wanted you to be okay.”

“You’re more than I deserve”

“No, I’m not.”

And they hugged.

“I have to tell you something else too. My mom. She’s kinda shitty… I have to stay here and take care of Ethan when she’s gone. And when she’s here I'm scared to really leave him alone with her, so…”

Emile frowned and reached out his hand.

“You didn’t answer my texts, cause you’re embarrassed…”

“Who wants to exsplain to all their friends that their mom is an alcoholic and their dad left them because he didn’t want a sparatic toddler and a stupid, dumb, good for nothing son?”

“You’re not any of those things, I swear.”

Remy began to cry a little in relief. Emile hugged them again and they sat there. They promised each other everything was going to be okay, even if it was an uphill climb, with plenty of windy roads- and maybe, a dead end.
