“Well you could have fled the moment you came back, this town doesn’t really offer the best of memories.” If it hadn’t been for Hope being here, Klaus would have fled and never looked back. It was suffocating to be in the very town where all his nightmares rooted from, the constant fear that Mikael was among those that have returned. “Elijah shouldn’t have died.” He still hasn’t seen his brother and that was a hard truth to face, “He only did because he didn’t want me to die alone, guess he wanted to keep up on our Always and Forever promise even in the afterlife.” He managed a chuckle at that. Stefan’s statement took his brother off his mind for a few moments as a laugh emits, looking around them before returning his emerald gaze to Stefan, “It may turn out that way, if I still harbor Inadu. But until then I’m walking on eggshells.” That and every corner he turned there was always some curious eyes following him. “It’s good to see you too, old friend.” Klaus’ smile widened a fraction, “Why don’t we get a drink? You can tell me all about whatever peace you found.” He was hoping Stefan at least had that for him.
“Sure except I no longer have the luxury of compelling my way into another life and running away seems about the last option.” Or at least he wanted to face the problems he’d left behind in death, leaving or moving on could happen when all that had been dealt with. “Maybe not but there’s some honor in dying for or with family and if anyone was going to die by your side...well it was definitely going to be him.” Elijah had so consistently stood by his brother irregardless of every bad thing he’d done and maybe it came from knowing the feeling but he could at least respect that. A sigh passed briefly peering elsewhere. “Eggshells is better than doom and destruction. So I think I speak for everyone when I say I’ll take that.” Granted at this point he had a feeling Mikaelson drama was the least of anyone’s issues. “Sure, though I won’t make any promises about being able to drink like I used to.” A half joke of course though it was one of the cons of being human.Â
