it has been forty-two years since a deadly plague ended. seven living dragons command the skies underneath their riders, with cheap rumours of wild winged beasts living on skagos. westeros has been under the rule of king baelon ii targaryen and queen alyssa targaryen for twenty-two years -- and something twisted is happening within the woods.
dragonstone was ruled by the king's brother, dayne targaryen, and his wife, lady aela celtigar, and their three daughters. one oddly serene night, lord dayne was found, dead and drowned in a shipwreck, off the coast of blackwater bay. the rule of dragonstone passed to his eldest daughter, lady viserra targaryen, on her 16th nameday.
while some believe a curse brought the deadly plague, others believe this era brought a rebirth of strong magic into the realm. in the wake of sickness and death, some individuals were born with a sensitivity to magic, a spiritual kind of inclination towards the earth and its most unseen elements.
the king baelon ii and his wife have fallen ill over the course of a half decade. the maesters have no explanation for it, and in return, tensions between the targaryens of king's landing and the targaryens of dragonstone have begun to fester and rot. those connected to the king and queen suspect foul play from the targaryens of dragonstone, knowing of the late prince dayne targaryen's jealousy towards his brother baelon ii. some whisper of his widow, the lady aela celtigar, having gone mad following the mysterious death of her husband, and casting curses of death upon the king and queen.
what no one knows, is that following a harrowing trip into the dark woods of the vale, king baelon ii and queen alyssa have been knowingly consuming poison in order to make their blood turn bad.
in the deep forests of the vale and the riverlands, a growing horror persists. blood merchants, they are dangerous groups of those with magic sensitivity, outcast by their families or otherwise lured to the cause, who have found shelter with one another. they are led, trained, and used by leaders who are rumored to be so powerful with their blood rituals, they have all but learned how to become immortal. these groups have found methods to manipulate dark strains of magic by harvesting good blood, the blood of the healthy and strong, and infusing the crimson liquid through ritualistic practices.
when the new blood is then consumed, it appears to give the consumer odd powers ... immunity to pain or poison, advanced healing, temporary warg abilities, and more. the blood merchants prey, especially, on the noble. the well-fed, the healthy, the privileged, with all their access to their maesters and plentiful meals.
many believe them to be a spooky talltale spread around to send chills down the spine, but many others have been forced to take them very seriously. either way, noble houses across westeros have had a growing number of distressing cases of members going missing ... perhaps they could be found in these forests, whether slaughtered or the butcher?

been a long time since i've visited the asoiaf fandom, let alone hosted a roleplay for it but like always, i start really missing the world here and exploring the lore of it. i loved the first few seasons of hotd but honestly that show quickly lost me with the direction they went lol.
would anyone be interested in a 21+, original character only, asoiaf discord group? it would be heavily canon divergent, set in a realm 130 years after got season 8, in a second era of targaryen reign (with new dragons! yes!) and with forms of magic stronger than before in westeros; six kingdoms, with the north still being an independent nation itself. new forms of grim tension not from beyond the icy wall, but in the shape of blood magic that have begun to appear from new, independent groups... or something of the sort!
