Listening to the radio while they report on the SCOTUS ruling yesterday that states can ban specifically trans girls and women from girls/womens sports programs. The people they interview: a trans boy with his cis mother and a trans man. The trans man says one of the things that hampers progress is "no one talks to us." Idk man the radio station didn't talk to any trans women, they talked to you, a trans man. Seems like they are pretty willing to talk to you and not the people this ruling actually directly affects.
feel the need to add: trans men, if you are given these types of opportunities, to speak on trans rights (or losses thereof) over a trans woman who is more affected by them than you, it is your *responsibility* to decline and, if you’re able, suggest a trans woman instead. if you are asked to be in a leadership position in a queer/trans/progressive organization and there are no trans women in leadership positions there, it is your *responsibility* to either decline in favor of a trans woman or decline until they bring in a trans woman.

In a phone interview Tuesday evening, Hiott said she was baffled by the last-minute change in plans. She said the first time she heard of any concerns from university leadership about the festival was last week, when Vangelisti told her that there were "questions" about the festival.
Hiott declined to discuss the specifics of the conversation, saying only, “I was confused and [Vangelisti] was confused.”
Two days later, Vangelisti sent Hiott a letter stating that the university would shut down the outdoor portion of the festival. She declined to share a copy but said it cited “deficiencies” and also claimed that the festival’s organizers had been unwilling to accept certain staffing and security recommendations made by UT.
In an effort to square the two competing narratives, KUT News filed a public information request with UT Austin seeking records of communications between festival organizers and university officials. The university charged about $500 for the records and has yet to provide them.

Hiott said she still hasn’t received a copy of the termination letter, but she recalls that it attributed her firing to "planning problems with the KUT festival and security issues." She also remembers that the letter stated that Vangelisti "had lost her faith in my ability, my leadership of the station."
