Dissociating is a lot like being high or drunk, except you get none of the happy giddy feelings, but all of the “what the fuck is going on” and “where the fuck am I” feelings. And you don’t get to decide when it happens, or when it starts, or when it stops, and you get no say in how intense it’ll be. You could be at work, or doing homework, or driving, and you it will just hit you and won’t go away, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Being raised without stability really fucks with your head, you’re forever trying to figure out a person’s “pattern“ to see how you have to approach them, whether they’re in a good mood and it’s safe, or if they’re in a bad mood and you have to be careful or maybe avoid them altogether, just because those who raised you could never keep a consistent emotional reaction

Treat people with psychosis with respect.  Treat people with schizophrenia with respect. Treat people with personality disorders with respect. Treat people with DID with respect. Treat people with bipolar disorder with respect. Treat people who dissociate frequently with respect.
