the most extravagant of the courts, they revel and are widely know as carefree. but tread carefully, the ruby court houses dangerous demons and gods, who know how to kill as well as dance.

cool and collected, the emerald court houses our sea folk. beautiful and cunning, if you are wise and self preserving this is the court for you. but beware, for green is the same color as envy and eventually all knives want a home.

rarely seen outside of their wintry glade, the diamond court is biting and vicious . yet they manage to be kind as well. if you have always been a little more of a dreamer, or more transparent than most , then this is your home. but watch your step , even the strongest ice cracks.

i’ve had this blog for a while now, so i thought it was about due time that i (re)introduce myself!

- i’m azka.

- i’ve been writing since i was…eight? anyways my first story was about a superhero candy cane and a villain with a palindrome name, which says a lot. but i started seriously writing around a year or two ago, and hence made this blog in october of last year.

- what can you find on this blog, you ask? well, it’s mostly me screaming about my characters, gushing about other people’s work, a once in a blue moon excerpt or edit, my love-hate relationship with purple prose, and writing advice that i probably should look at more often.

- i currently have three wips! 

trahison: a dark academia novel about students trying to become immortal, filled with decadent families, overly flashy literary references, and characters that bleed with secrets. wip page | wip intro

penny lane: set in an unmapped town, five teens obsessed with the paranormal try to figure out why the new girl is being hunted by the worst twins you could ever meet, while also trying to maintain their idealistic view of their beloved home as its dark past is revealed. wip page | wip intro

psychophantia: a boarding school student runs away to find his friends⁠—who just so happen to be killers. ensue a road trip, people coming back from the dead, and tragic backstories told through humour. wip page | wip intro

- i also occassionally post poetry i write in my notes app at two am, which you can find here  

- my favourite genres, you wonder? well, i’m a complete sucker for a good mystery or thriller. if it makes me bite my nails out of tension, i’ll probably like it. i also secretly like contemporary romance. urban fantasy is pretty high up in the list too. but honestly, if you can get me attached to the characters, i’ll like anything.

- some things about me that aren’t necessarily about writing: i’m a cinephile (my favourite movies include mona lisa smile, notting hill, prisoner of azkaban and paddington), i mostly listen to bands (arctic monkeys—as seen from above—, the wombats, the 1975, and one direction don’t @ me), i can’t decide which is better, tea or coffee, pinterest and gossip girl are my guilty pleasures (though not at the same time), and i enjoy math. yes, math.

my name is amira, i’m nineteen and i used to be @/delicaetes until i forgot my email like a dummy gsjdhkghs . granted, i did disappear because of exams and what not , but now im back nd i hope i can really make progress on my wips ;w;

im a huge fan of mystery, supernatural, fantasy nd sci-fi genres (with a v healthy Splash of romance, lgbt+ characters nd characters of color) nd thus a lot of my wips tend to reflect that !! speaking of wips !! i currently have two wips :-) !!

when the sun falls is the newest wip i’ve been working on, and it’s about four teens who learn that the disappearances in their town aren’t as cookie cutter as they had expected . since it’s so new, i’m still working on a lot of the details , but i do Adore it a lot :D

world end club is a wip i’ve been working on since february of this year! it’s very sci-fi nd urban fantasy, but i’ve recently been giving it a revamp since i’m not so sure about the cast or plot direction.

THE FAE WHO WERE BIRTHED FROM THE STARS . WORLDBUILDING *

we were starbirthed . our hearts carried supernovas . our wings hold stardust . our nails could claw craters in the moons . our teeth could could shatter meteors . we are universe creatures , children of the giant celestial makers . this world is not our home . our place is amongst the stars .

legend states that these fae were born from shoot stars. 

they would fall to the earth and take root in the ground

then bloom during the spring solstace as starbeams ( tall plants , strung with lights all around the stem , and a glow in the middle of the flower ) . 

the starry fae , or the stellae , traveled the world looking for a point close enough to the cosmos they once called home

they found trees as tall as giants and made their homes amongst 

their forest is always illuminated , with fairy lights tied around the bark and branches and stardews hanging off the leaves 

night time is their most powerful moment , sun time is when they rest 

the constellations always move in their skies , the children play with them

Hello! I was previously stellafer, but I moved accounts so I thought an introduction is in order!

I aspire to be an author among other things, and I'm 14 years old. I'm currently trying to write my first novel, Bloodline, but I've been very slow about it 😅. I'm relatively new to writing, so I'm always willing to be given advice and critiques!

WIP INTRODUCTION: STORMCHASERS 

genre: comedy , adventure , fantasy , angst  draft: first pov: third person limited  warnings: dark themes , slight politics , corruption , violence  themes: found family , revolution , gray morals , vagabonds , wanderers , relationship building , fate , finding one’s self , destiny verses intention , magic and its beauty , magic and its curses , lgbtq , poc-cast , rebellion 

SERIES SYNOPSIS 

                                     “IF WE ARE TO DENY FATE’S GRAND SCHEME                       OF BRINGING US TOGETHER , then surely we will meet our ends.”

one could survive in the twisted streets and cracked heights of haran if you follow one rule: don’t mess with the highbanes. the only guild residing within the city known for their ruthless, merciless endeavors. 

james herald wants nothing to do with them. he plans to mind his own business. do jobs around the city for some coin. save up enough money and then leave on the next ship out of there. haran was not his home. not really. not when he had traces of his past to uncover, to seek, to unfold. haran was a temporary. or it should have been.

then he meets annika. an elven princess searching for her clan’s lost ring that resides in the hands of the highbane. but she can’t take them on alone. no. she’s searching for an army. a group of talented individuals who can help her reclaim what’s lost-a guild of her own. james wants no part in her treasure hunt, but when she offers him a sum of gold that would be enough to take him out of haran and have him live his days comfortably for the rest of his days…he accepts.

but a guild is not two people. to be fully recognized by the government they must gather at least five other individuals to join their ranks. and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

so they embark, exploring the kingdom and picking up people along the way. 

a mage who’s cheated death more than once, another mage who’s soul belongs to an ice demon, and an exiled fairy prince. together, they become the stormchasers. 

“because we will never run from the thunder, only towards it.” 

STORY TAG / WORLD BUILDING / CHARA PROFILES / TAG LIST. 

There are different forms a character arc can take. And different ways to create one. But if you’re struggling, I have a few tips on designing an arc for your character.

1. Where does your character start?

Where are they in life? What are their ambitions and dreams?

What are their main traits?

Most importantly: what is their biggest character flaw/shortcoming. For a character arc, this should be something that can be changed or that shows potential.

What is the one thing keeping your character from being the best they can be? What is the unrealized potential of your character?

We’ll call this point A

For example, let’s say your MC is very childish and self-centered

2. They should end at the opposite of point A

No, this doesn’t mean an angry character should suddenly be a meek little lamb.

It means that your character has managed to work on that flaw, has overcome their biggest weakness. Has fulfilled their potential.

Take point A and make it shinier, healthier, better, nicer etc.

Let’s call this point Z

Going with our example, this would mean that the character has learnt to be mature when they need to be and has come to be considerate of others’ needs.

This is where your character should be by the end of the story. This is the goal of the arc.

3. Which events/plot points will help your character get from point A to point Z?

Your character can’t just spontaneously transform from A to Z. The development needs to be believable and organic.

So, what can happen to the character to bring about this change progressively? Who can they meet? Do they fall in love? Lose someone important? Find a family? Go through war? The possibilities are endless.

The first event is usually your inciting incident (Point B) , which takes the character away from their regular life and comfort zone. Something around them has to change before they can start to change.

The change shouldn’t occur in a single event, however. It should be gradual.

In our example, the character could be exposed to the suffering of others, meet a compassionate love interest, be forced to take responsibility etc.

4. Breaking point

Most good books have a character breaking point. The point where your character has lost everything and is down in the dumps.

The breaking point presents the final choice: give up or go on

This should be your character’s final point before they are transformed into Z. (point Y if you will)

Overcoming rock bottom is what will eventually make your character the best they can be.

5. Big picture

So, eventually your character arc should look like this: A > B (inciting incident) > event C > event D etc > Y (breaking point) > Z

This is a very simple way to design an arc. Obviously, you can create one that’s much more complex. But I hope that these basics can be helpful.
