Don't forget that your Durge is literally a perfected clone of a god.
No, really! This gets glossed over a lot, but I think it needs to be explored in fics etc.
In BG1 and BG2, you played as a Bhaalspawn (ie: a part mortal, part divine child of Bhaal fathered during the Time of Troubles) and at it's worst, the Urge is restricted to horrible dreams. There are no new Bhaalspawn, the only ones alive post Bhaal's return are Sarevok (and Orin but she hardly counts) and Imoen (who lost her divine essence and became a Vampire by the time of BG3)
In BG3, the Dark Urge is confirmed to be a Pureblood Bhaalspawn. (ie: 100% Bhaal's blood, not a child who was born but rather literally a perfect creation (you can headcanon that character creation is Bhaal making a perfect vessel) made from the God of Murder entirely, hence why the Urge is so strong to kill and maim. (And why you have Sceleritas Fel to guide you.)
Therefore, Resist!Durge is such a miracle, you're literally Bhaal, rejecting Bhaal. (Lol the embarrassment for Bhaal, his own self rejecting him!) But what remains when Bhaal takes back his blood? This is what I want to explore in my fic.
The thing that irks me most is how this is glossed over, by companions and NPCs... you won, you have your freedom, your mind is your own, Withers has adopted you, you're... safe? No. I... don't think it's that simple.
You were literally a clone of Bhaal. Losing his blood should leave you empty to an extent. Withers even calls you the Child of None, there's running theme here, but it's not been explored by the game. A vacancy born of resisting the Urge.
You're just an empty shell now, the victory is pyrrhic but also required... You need to learn who you are now that everything has been stripped away and romance here is paramount because the love interest will play a big role in shaping the soul that becomes Durge after their revival
I really want to explore this aspect and it's dark consequences in my fic, i already have to an extent (lots of implications for God!Durge, the Child of None) but as my BG3 novelisation approaches Act 3, it's becoming very daunting but I'm gonna soldier ahead and hopefully deliver something that makes readers understand what I'm getting at here.
...Resist!Durge is no less than a divine miracle. Never doubt that.
