45” x 33” Veil fans made from silk tie dyed by Xavier Caylor (featuring his signature P-KOK design) on 12” custom cut reinforced birchwood fan ribs. Decorated with prismatic holographic vinyl and embellished with prismatic reflectors. Comes with drawstring storage bag and a Flag/Fan icon iron-on patch.

These fans will be available to purchase in the silent auction at the Flagging in the Park in the National AIDS Memorial Grove in Golden Gate Park-San Francisco, CA July 26, 2025. Auction proceeds go to benefit the Grove itself.

Faerie Daddy - Flow Artist/Designer - Dallas, TX

Inspired by the life and death of his flag/fan daddy Richard Ballou he has been flagging and making flags since 1994. Fanning and designing fans since 2005.

Legacy of Ballou

I just completed a retrofit of a twenty year old set of fans. These were the last set of fans my fan daddy Richard Ballou was working on before he died.

After his death I was left with all of his unfinished work, fabrics, patterns, supplies, and sewing machine. His legacy placed upon my shoulders, I began to dance with fans and struggled to make fans. For ten years I've watched him make fans. But never taught the process. It wasn't until I attended the legendary Larry Regal’s fan making presentation at the National Fag and Fan Symposium in NYC that I was shown techniques needed to advance my abilities and finish these fans. I completed them in late 2006 and have played them hard since. Out of spare fan ribs to continue repairs I retrofitted them with a set of my new design fan ribs, added weights, and ribbon flap guards.

I set myself to task and put so much intent, emotion, and my spirit into making these. I truly constructed an attuned conduit to connect, project, and amplify the soul. All the emotion one could hope to release.

To exhale the soul.

After too long of a pause I have returned to work on my list of muses. The beautiful people that have inspired me and touched my heart. People I want to put a set of my fans in their hands before my time on this orb is done.

Sunday Skeleton

It was past time I designed and forged myself a new astra, a set of wings to fly upon the winds of fate and probability. To carry me with love and joy into the future, no matter the uncertainty.

Expanding upon design modifications I used in my most recent sets created for the FITP July silent auctions. I've pushed myself beyond what I thought capable of and created artifacts of such beauty and power. Finely tuned instruments for transmuting everything negative within my soul into an explosive expression of beauty, freedom, truth, and love.

From the forges of El Tivoli I give you,

With these in hand I cannot wait to fly alongside you all as we spread our wings and unleash our joy upon a world that is in such need of it right now.
