As the magic of the extra door activated, it allowed Carlos to open it, revealing the portal to an extradimensional space inside.

The Office behind the door was currently occupied by Mia, who looked up hopefully from her mountains of paperwork at the sound of the portal opening, tail wagging behind her when she saw some of her favorite humans come to visit.

“Oh, goodie, a distraction! Come on in before Office gets testy, it’s been a bit grumpy when left open too long the past few days.” As if to prove her point, the bookshelf behind her rattled, dumping a handful of files that had been sorted on its shelves to the floor.

“Well, rude,” she huffed, moving to pick the files back up and put them away. “How are you boys doing today?”

Carlos did as suggested and stepped inside quickly, gently closing the door behind him.

“Hey Mia,” he greeted with a smile. “We’re doing okay. Aren’t we, Esteban?”

The young boy just stared at Mia with his big brown eyes. But then he whined and turned to tuck his head into Carlos’ neck, making Carlos laugh softly.

Carlos picked up Esteban and held the kid against his hip. “Okay buddy, are you ready to go see sissy?” he asked Esteban with a gentle boop to his nose.

Esteban chewed on the leg of his spider wolf plushie and nodded. Carlos grinned and picked up his backpack.

“Okay thenk! Let’s head on over, okay?” Carlos asked.

He turned and walked them toward the extra door in the house. The one that, base upon the external appearance of the house, doesn’t go anywhere. Carlos grasped the handle and twisted it a couple times to activate the door.

My son’s stuck in a time loop again.

He thinks I don’t know, of course. He’s never told me that this happens to him (or that he can do this, possibly; I’m not sure which it is.) Maybe I’m a bad mother, if I haven’t proven myself worthy of that trust. But there is only so many times that one can watch their son trudge through a day with bored impatience, anticipating everything you say just a little too quickly and showing no surprise to even the most surprising event, and then come downstairs the next day disoriented but rejuvenated and with a new zest for life and a tendency to get blindsided by even the most predictable things, before one makes the obvious connection.

This is a serious thing. Im curious how many people over the course of year(s) kept the same tumblr handle. A ton of the people I follow have changed their over time.

As far as I know Im one of the few who havent. Few being relative as there are millions of tumblr users. But yeah.
