Oh my gosh, Lyra!!!!!! Can I have an autograph??!!! Please?!
“O-Oh, alright..!” Lyra pulled a Pokeathlon magazine from her bag, not caring that it might seem conceited to have them on her... After all, she did need to read up on the competition. She pulled a marker out as well and scrawled her name over the top of it in an area where nothing important was found, then handed it back to the person. “I-I hope that’s alright..”
ooc; hey guys- back from the dead!! ( or, at least, kinda. ) i’m still quite sick and dealing with a hefty amount things. however, i’m ready to be back and into this hobby again. i’m not sure how things go around here anymore, but…
please LIKE / REBLOG if you’re interested in roleplaying with a GAMEVERSE RED, filled with stories to tell and journeys to be had.
for simplicity’s sake, i’ll be dropping all previous threads ( unless the other mun is still around and wants to continue, of course! )
“I don’t think people understand that the only type-specialists that would have an edge in the Pokeathlon are fighting-type and flying-type specialists...”
Alright! Here’s a continuation of THIS POST. We’re going to dive into the different Cups on this post- and it’s gonna be long. First, we’ll touch on vocabulary to understand how I describe these a little better.
Courses - The single evens that happen within one circuit, i.e. Pennant Capture, Snow Throw, Hurdle Dash, etc.
Circuits - The stat-based event you enter that contains 3 courses, i.e. the Power Circuit that contains Block Smash, Circle Push, and Goal Roll.
Cups - An umbrella term. Originally, it was nothing more than the name of the trophy you obtained by winning a Circuit, but over time the fans and journalists have coined it to mean the entire event week.
Now, we’ll talk about the individual cups, circuits, how to advance and how often they occur. To begin, it’s to be understood that a Cup lasts 6 days. One day for each stat-based circuit, i.e. Monday for the Skill Course, Tuesday for the Power Course, and so on. Saturday is the awards ceremony and the after parties, as well as the prime day for trainers and Pokeathletes to speak with one another to trade ideas, training tips, and so forth.
Junior Cup- This cup is for beginning trainers, from age 8 to age 12. It takes place three times a year. Unlike the other cups, because it is for the younger group, only TWO courses are in each circuit- whereas any and all circuits for ANY cup for ages 13+ have THREE (like in-game). The Junior Cup takes place four times a year and if you won the Junior Skill Cup in January, you cannot enter the Skill Circuit again until December for equal opportunity.
Middle Cup- This cup is for trainers aged 13 to 17, HOWEVER at age 17 you can technically roll with the adults in their cups. This cup happens most frequently, but is more difficult. Starting with this cup, three courses are in each circuit. This cup takes place once a month, giving an opportunity to win up to twelve times a year- though it’s very unlikely to win more than three times.
Bronze Cup- This is the entrance cup. Anyone new to the Pokeathalon, of age 17+, begins here. To be able to move on to the Silver Cup, you must have a total of five Bronze Cups (in any circuit) under your belt as well as having participated in the Bronze Circuits at least 10 times. The Bronze Cups takes place eight times a year.
Silver Cup- This is considered the ‘moderate cup’ and is quite a bit more difficult than the Bronze. It’s not exceptionally more difficult, though. To move on to the Gold Cup, you must have a total of five Silver Cups (in any circuit) under your belt as well as having participated in the Silver Circuits at least 10 times. The Silver Cup takes place six times a year.
Gold Cup- To reach this cup means your face, your Pokemons’ faces, and your statistics are well known. You’ve reached celebrity status. This is the ‘intermediate cup’, perfectly centered between the two “easier” cups and the two hardest cups. To move on to the Platinum Cup, you must have a total of five Gold Cups (a minimum of one in each circuit) under your belt as well as having participated in the Silver Circuits at least 10 times. The Gold Cup takes place four times a year.
Platinum Cup- This cup is one of the most exclusive cups, second only to the Supreme Cup. This is the peak to the mass majority of Pokeathlete’s careers and is almost like a precursor to the “Olympics” of Pokemon (the Supreme Cup). This Cup takes place twice a year at most, and in order to get to the Supreme Cup you have to have a minimum of three Platinum Cups in the specific circuit you wish to enter.
Supreme Cup- The Supreme Cup is considered the greatest honor and the greatest week among Pokeathletes. Not only do you need a minimum of three Platinum Cups in the circuit you wish to enter (i.e. three Jump Platinum Cups), you also need to be a huge crowd favorite (for selling tickets and merchandise), you and the Pokemon you wish to enter will be tested on trust, instincts, commands, and friendship-- and you must pass. The Supreme Cup is a bit like the Olympics and only happens once every other year. 2014, 2016, 2018, etc. Furthermore, it is always held in Johto- which has the largest Pokeathlon Dome and is the origin of the Pokeathlon. Furthermore, instead of four Pokeathletes in one circuit, there is one representative from each region. The winner takes the most prestigious prize cup, 500,000 poke, and a collection of evolution stones. The Region gains popularity, revenue, and a donation to the League from Magnus- the owner and creator of the Pokeathlon.
The last, largely important piece of information is that you are capable of jumping around cups at will if you’re high enough up- but only to an extent. If you’re in the Gold Cup, you’re able to go down to the Bronze Cup in a course you’re unused to. Many Pokeathletes do this so that making it all the way up to Supreme or Platinum is easier- as they’ll have more experience that way.

mezasepkmnmaster:
“I’m just sayin’, you’re pushin’ into dangerous territory.” What kind of monster did that!? She was just chewing it apart. “Why eat string cheese if you’re not gonna pull it apart?”
“I eat it for the s-same reason most people eat their foods... F-For the taste...”
Honestly, why was the way she ate such a big deal? Dangerous territory- what danger? She made sure to look over stick of cheese, but only shrugged and took another bite.
“It’s more effort to pull it apart... So..”
gotta ask the real questions here homegurl---where d'ye get this friggin' marshmallow hat??
A small, tinkling laugh left her at the question. It wasn’t the first time nor would it be the last time she’d get asked that.
“My aunt imported, like, f-four of them from Kalos years ago.. So I have backups even if they are considered out-of-style n-nowadays.”
“Don’t cry. Don’t cry. I swear to god if you cry again.” (Hooray for first interactions)

She clenched her fists and steadied her back, but she couldn’t quite stop the minor quiver of her bottom lip. What else was she supposed to do in this situation..? Well, she supposed that a few people might actually cheer but... It’s not her fault newborn Pokemon were too cute to suppress those feelings.
“I-I won’t cry... I won’t... I...”
“Why is it so cute?”

“It’s called ‘string cheese’ and not ‘chompy cheese’ for a reason.”
Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator Sentence Starters || Accepting!
“A-And it’s called my life and not your life f-for a reason.”
Queue Lyra taking another bite from the string cheese. No peeling it apart into stringy bits. Not even breaking eye contact with the man who questioned her life choices.
did you actually save the photo though? is it in your album?
“I’m never going to live that down, am I....”
Still, she showed the masked figure that not only did she save it, she also saved it as his contact photo, too.

This first post building on the Pokeathlon will be mostly bullet points and on the shorter side compared to the ones to come. The Pokeathlon is very important to the mun and this blog, and any world building headcanons with this header are 100% okay to reblog, especially since I’d love to see more muses get into the Pokeathlon- but not blindly so. So buckle up because here we go!
Pokeathlon World Building: Post 1 of ??
The Pokeathlon is broken up by Cups and Age Range so nobody is unfairly pit against each other (say, a 10 year old newcomer against a 25 year old expert- another HC post will come in a couple of days with a longer and more in-depth view on this)
Teams comprising of 2+ Sunkern or 2+ Ditto are banned. It’s commonly known that Sunkern and Ditto have the ability to have 5 stars in all five aspects.
Legendary Pokemon are banned and prohibited from joining as well.
The Pokeathalon Dome located in Johto is on a peninsula with only the Dome and Pokeathlon areas on it. In the overworld and official map for HG/SS, it is surrounded by water on three sides and has a man-made bridge connecting the southern portion to the mainland.
Each course for ages 13+ is judged by a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 7. Each course in the circuit has a referee specializing in that course and three judges to keep an eye out for cheating, illegal moves by Pokemon or trainers, and keep tally/track of points.
The only times there are 7 judges is when a referee is training someone to watch for what they see or when there is a guest judge.
The only exception to this is the Supreme Cup Week, in which there are a much larger number of judges, participants from different regions, and happens in Johto, the origin of the Pokeathlon every two years. To make it to participate in the Supreme Cup is extremely difficult and is considered to hold the most prestigious and genius Pokeathletes.
Taking a note from the Anime, where the Pokeathlon was seen in Sinnoh but confirmed to originate in Johto, each region holds their own Pokeathlons- but Johto’s are seen as the largest, hardest to get into, etc.
Pokeathletes hitting the Gold and Platinum Cups are seen as celebrities.
It’s extremely common for bets to be placed on these events based on the trainer and their Pokemon’s statistics.
Being a crowd favorite is hard to do, considering the amount of competition.
It’s not uncommon for Pokeathletes to be asked to do TV or Radio interviews, go to a different region to participate in that Pokeathlon to boost popularity and keep that Dome from going Bankrupt, and even have their faces/team colors/team sigils on merchandise.
Coordinators, Elitists (E4 members) and Gym Leaders are viewed- by the crowd- to have a disadvantage and even though they’re popular and celebrities in their own rights, it’s harder for them to gain the crowd’s favor.
Welp, time to go crawl in a hole and die of embarrassment. Nice knowing you, world.

“Can you explain memes to me?” ((IF UR STILL DOING THIS lmao--)
Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator Sentence Starters || Accepting!
How does someone accurately explain memes, if someone could get her a book on that exact subject by last week, that would be great.... Unfortunately a book like that didn’t exactly exist. So what, exactly, was the right answer..?
“So, uh... Memes are a part of our generation much like, say, sending letters were a part of a previous generation. They’re mostly jokes, satire, crudely relatable, or sarcastic sayings... Um...”
HOW did ANYONE explain memes?
“Have you ever been sent a picture or a video that someone found funny..? Urgh.. Um... Here, look at my phone, this is my meme album--”
God, that had to be the most cringeworthy thing she has ever said.
corrosivegold:
“ Wah’n’it al’wahz cool? “
“No. No it wasn’t. In fact, you’re a dweeb if you commit crimes.”
