Regarding playing as a King vs a Queen

(I posted something about this yesterday on my personal blog by accident because I’m an idiot)

Both the King and Queen will be presented with equal opportunity for romance. There is already a minimum difference in the general narrative, comparing the two. The only differences will be in how certain people receive certain things, or act toward you - for example: Ben will be more protective of a Queen, and he’ll be unresponsive/uncomfortable when a King first begins to flirt with him. Reaver, however, will not be affected by the player character’s gender.

Each character will have a preference, but that doesn’t mean they’re off limits.

Hello, hi! I adore the demo of the game btw ( i've missed the good ole' fashioned storyline fable in these sad years), but I'm kinda curious about the romance you've got planned with reaver. Like, what are your ideas because he's one of my fave male characters of all time-but I can't see him as a 'I love you' kinda guy unless his romance goes on for a long time with loads of chara development so, yeah, what have y'all got goin' on in that great mind of yours?

I’ve got some headcannons about his relationship with Sparrow (imagine a ‘you look just like your mother’ kinda moment.)

I hope to keep throwing up chapters for a while and I really want to get deep into his character, the way I plan to get into the nitty gritty of my other favourites, Logan and Ben.

Lots of development is in store for a few of the characters.

My computer spazz-ed so I don't know if you already got this. Anyway...Holy Crap! I am genuinely super excited to play this. I already read through the prologue and it was fantastic. Even though only Jasper and Reaver appeared both felt natural and in character. So who else will be appearing? From your posts I know Logan (my personal favorite), Reaver, Ben Finn, and maybe Page and Elise/Elliot?

I have stats and definitions set up in the prologue script for Sabine and Kalin as well, though I’m not sure whether I’ll use them. I’m still open to suggestions and I’ve been looking into adding Saker, too.

The recent passing of two of my greatest childhood loves has made me realize that we have to love and spread the love while we’re here. I’m working doubly hard to help spread the love with the Fable 3 Dating Sim now. I hope to have Chapter One out within this month or the next - and don’t worry, Chapter One is much beefier than the Prologue!

I see Logan as the type not to initiate anything, either! Out of love and respect for the sibling, unless the sibling does something first and makes him rethink. Thanks for being sensitive, I think your idea of putting the choice on the player is great character wise and just for the players in general.

I’m pleased by the positive response from people considering the subject matter. I’ve put in a lot of practice handling delicate subjects while writing short stories in high school lol

I think sensitive matters like this, especially, need to be handled with care, and I’d hate to turn supporters and non-supporters of the pairing off.

What about a brotherly route for those who can't stand incest and a romance route unlockable with a password or something for those who don't care about it? This way everyone would be happy and the anti-incest wouldn't have to worry about stumbling upon it... Though it would probably be a lot of work :/ (TBH, I don't think that many people would be upset. I didn't even shipped it until I saw how much fanwork they had. Not like deslay in Proff. Layton where fans are still barging about it...)

I always figured if I did put in a Logan route, it would be impossible to stumble into a situation where you’re suddenly, like, faced with a love confession from him, or he’s suddenly kissing you. My Logan loves and respects his baby sister/brother too much to ever be the one to make the move. It’d have to be a clear cut player/prince(ess) choice. Like, say you tell him you love him, and he reciprocates, and then you get a second choice with options like: hug or ask a question or something or to maybe specify you love him in a different way - something like that would be the thing to set it in motion.

I try to be a sensitive as possible to certain aversions people may have when I write, I try to provide warning. I don’t want anyone to wind up in a situation they’re uncomfortable with. :^)

(But there will be a lot of brotherly love from Logan, I promise!!)

Also, I was REALLY dissapointed of not getting to talk to Saker anymore after defeating him, even when I did spare him :/ Are you going to put him here?

So far, I do believe I’ll throw him in here and there, I’m just not sure how much of him there’ll be.

I have a few characters in mind already, Ben and Reaver being the obvious ones, because people would be pissed if someone made a Fable 3 dating sim and didn’t include them, of all people. I’ve been concocting a way to bring Barry back (I just love Jonathan Ross).

I very much dislike Page, but I thought I may include her on the list, for other people’s sake..?

I’ve already had someone ask me to include Saker, and I’ve been considering it. If anyone else wants someone in particular, I’d be happy to oblige.

re: logan, not a logan fan, but if there's a good story behind it (and from what weve seen i trust your writing skills!), i wouldnt be completely averse to it.

My goal is to make people feel for him, above all else, the way I feel for him. I’m going to try really hard to generate some sympathy for, what I see as, a very tragic character. That could just be because of all my headcanons involving him.

I’m just prone to feeling sympathy for tragically, non-traditionally evil characters faced with moral dilemmas.

I think a dateable Logan would alienate fans from the game. Incest is just... not ok. And since we're playing as the king/queen there's no way around it. However! I really love your sibling headcanons and things about their pasts and the way you portray Logan's personality in general! Why not just explore their brotherly relationship? It's just as interesting imo.

I also think not having a dateable Logan would disappoint a lot of fans. It would be nothing like the other routes. It wouldn’t be easily accessible. It’d just be a way-beneath the surface exploration of a complicated relationship.

(If it’s any consolation, I got a 100% on an assignment a couple years back in grade 11 psyc for my portrayal of a Logan/Princess romantic relationship from a prudish teacher who said it was surprisingly tasteful.)

Do you need help with writing? :)

As of yet, no. I have a spreadsheet to keep track of all the relationship stats for the coding, the story all planned out, etc.. I was always the kind of kid who’d ask the teacher if I could do the group project by myself, because few things annoy me more than working with people, because I’m a weird perfectionist.

But if that changes, I’ll be sure to make a post about it.
