Supernatural power is called ether.

Ether fragments, when paired with a host that either has ether fragments or can contain ether fragments, manifests into a soul and turns the vessel into a living human.

Childbirth in this world works when two people consummate and their ether fragments don't reject each other, they will intertwine and pick the feminal being as the host.

This also works for demons going into the mortal realm. They just need a physical host that can contain ether fragments, like a special effigy. They cannot directly interact with objects or people without a host to put their ether fragments into.
