( 𝚅𝙴𝚁𝚂𝙴 𝙸𝙽𝙵𝙾 ) organized crime au. violet is a city-reared child of the modern age who was born into an impoverished household to parents who had little means, but had a strong sense of community and a deep love for one another. early childhood in the slums of her birthplace was largely full of happy memories. she shared a bed with her younger sister nearly from the day she'd been born, and their bedroom was full of colorful drawings and old beaten down toys that they'd inherited from local households and long time family friends. supper was thin, but everyone made the best of what they had. felicia (her mother,) and connol, (her father) were automotive mechanics that always smelled like axle grease; and although both vi and her younger sister, powder, had to learn to take care of themselves early because of the hours their parents worked, they didn't mind because they simply didn't know anything else. by five years of age, vi knew how to cook, clean, read, and took care of her sister and herself until their parents got home at night. she assumed the role of protector early.

when vi was nine and powder was five, felicia and connol were caught in the crossfire of a p.olice incident that ultimately killed six people in total and injured a dozen others.

now orphaned, violet and her sister were thereafter adopted by v.ander; a lifelong family friend of felicia and connol since childhood and owner of a popular local bar called THE LAST DROP. v.ander took in both vi and powder, as well as two other boys whose parents had also been killed. their adoptive family was far from perfect, but it was still family. vi very quickly become the designated leader of their group. she lied, cheated, and stole to give her baby sister a chance at a better life. she learned how to fight not only from v.ander ( who was a war veteran as well as a retired boxer, ) but through the public school system. to the household and their friends, vi was the guardian figure.

* the last drop is considered to be the 'switzerland' of local organized crime - neither cartel funded nor distributor operated. a peaceful meeting place, run by v.ander since he retired from his boxing career ( post!military ). for as long as the pipe-smoking barman ran it, the pub was considered neutral ground. vander himself was known by all, and more importantly he was respected by all. those who didn't know him learned fast. when the kids came into the picture, they were added to that list of knowing; occasionally they’re seen helping out with dishes or emptying ashtrays/taking out trash, but everyone knows the kids and knows they're strictly off limits.

the incident at the cannery happens, powder disappears ( taken in by the cartel or an opposing mob ) and vi gets framed for the deaths of her family. eventually, she gets sent to juvie — eventually transferred to prison for combative behavior. gets out in her twenties, and the cartel has taken over the last drop and turned it into a dealing hotspot that police are paid to look the other way from. vi turns to illegal boxing.

breaking bad arc: after the death of her family, violet and her sister powder move from chicago to albuquerque in order to be raised by vander (their godfather, as they have no living relatives). her and powder attend j.p. wynne until the accident at the abandoned warehouse - which in this verse, occurs when vi is seventeen. vander is kidnapped by the cartel, and the kids' impromptu rescue mission crashes and burns when powder defies violet's command to stay home away from the danger, follows the kids and successfully detonates a homemade expl*sive; accidentally k*lling almost everyone involved. vi survives by being thrown out of a window, and though she is injured when she's found, she's alive. her sister disappears, ( possibly taken in as a daughter by gus f*ring) as a kid, vi was represented by public defender jimmy m*cgill who did certainly try to get her a reduced sentence, but simply didn’t have the the time or the resources to get her off completely. she serves time for four or five years of her ten year sentence, first in juvie and then in prison due to combative behavior. upon being ready for the court's review after time served, her case is later taken on by kim wexler in her adulthood: a relentless, passionate layer who digs her heels into the case and overall manages to get vi released from prison. vi becomes involved with kim during the events of bcs, first platonically and then romantically. she reunites with jesse p*nkman from school, (affiliated with @pinkman) whom she crashes with after her release until she eventually gets her own place. as plotted with @arcadeian: after giving him some advice at the boxing club, vi later is hired under-the-table by howard h*amlin to be his fighting instructor. completely without the knowledge of who he is re: kim and jimmy/saul, the two slowly develop a platonic (even paternal-ish) bond before howard disappears. her involvement in the events of br/ba specifically will likely need to be plotted out individually.

a. ──── 𝙲𝙸𝙶𝙰𝚁𝙴𝚃𝚃𝙴𝚂 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝙲𝙾𝙵𝙵𝙴𝙴 [ ... ] a love like yours is raw, bitter, deeply human. it’s the kind of love that lingers in your skin, in your clothes, in the spaces between words. yes, you’re an unforgettable lover. you stain. it’s a love that keeps you awake at night. maybe you didn’t even want to fall in love at first, am i right? you just wanted to have fun and now you’re stuck. you really can’t get them out of your head, and you fought it for a while ( or maybe you’re still fighting it. ) yours is a love that’s flawed, human, and deeply felt. it’s not made for fairytales, but for indie song artists and lovers who do not care about the happily-ever-after, only about the present. being loved by you leaves a bitter aftertaste, you know? it carries a certain ache. it’s full of long pauses, stained fingertips, and glances that say more than words. but are you sure your partner knows how to interpret them? it can be pretty confusing. it’s so hard to guess what you’re thinking or what you’re feeling that you might leave your partner often wondering: “do they really want to be with me?” ... some days you’re considerate, sweet, and it’s so fun to be with you. then you distance yourself and you get all caught up in your own thoughts and problems you hardly share the burden of. the hardest part is loving you back. ────𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙰𝚁𝙼𝙾𝚁 [ ... ] you arrive already assembled. posture aligned. voice measured. boundaries humming quietly beneath the surface. there is no rush in the way you enter a space ── only intention. people feel it immediately: you are not careless with access. respect forms before familiarity does. this isn’t distance for distance’s sake; it’s discernment. ( you learned, at some point, that softness without structure gets bruised. ) those who earn their way past the armor find something rare ── warmth that chose to stay, not warmth that leaked everywhere.

( HEADCANON. ) vi started drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes as a young adult, (probably around 12-13, prior to her arrest) but notably did not begin to drink in excess until after the events of s1 occurred. being in piltover during a large communal mourning period, alcohol seemed almost free flowing throughout the upper city; where it became something of a crutch to vi specifically who didn't really know what else to do with herself while she tip-toed around the kiramman estate. the habit very quickly transitioned from a once in a while affair, to vi almost always having a bottle of something to pull from even upon returning to the f.irelights to start trying to locate/confront her sister. after her battle with jinx and her subsequent violent separation from c.aitlyn, vi abandoned the f.irelights in a wave of grief and began to consume dangerously. it's important to note that no one necessarily knew where she had gone, including e.kko who was otherwise preoccupied with heimerdinger and their research. while l.oris of course was not solely responsible, after defecting from the enforcers, he took on the role of vi's impromptu manager and certainly did not help. they bonded very deeply and very fast, as "brothers in arms". his bad habits became her bad habits, and vice versa. during her crash out period fighting in the pits, she turned to harder substances as well (i.e. c*caine and various pills, * but never shimmer) on top of her alcohol abuse because these things were readily available and numbed the pain. substances were partly the reason she rose to underground fame as quickly as she did, and they were also her eventual downfall. everything happened in relatively rapid succession. then, jinx showed up and everything changed once again. in the herald's community, she was kind of forced into sobriety (because there was no availability) and had a lot of help from v.iktor to keep from going catatonic with withdrawal. as i am s2 divergent, i'm going to say for now that she does not return to alcohol usage like we see at the end of the finale. instead, she returns to the f.irelights and continues her path to sobriety.

( HEADCANON. ) f.elicia had to be induced to bring violet into the world. her firstborn came a week and a half later than her expected due date, 'fighting from the womb' but not necessarily in the way most might assume. it was almost as though she had been fighting against her own birth, and the moment she sucked in her first breath? she started swinging. it was cute when she was an infant; with her always-clenched, pink little fists and her surly expression pinching cherubim features. v.ander affectionately dubbed her their little ankle biter the moment he laid eyes on her, but everyone else referred to her as 'the grumpy baby' for a long, long time. although she was a generally happy child ( even in the sumps, ) she didn't seem to really settle into the idea of life until she learned that p.owder had been conceived. suddenly, everything made sense. she'd been fighting for someone else before she ever realized... and she would continue to fight for her little sister until she couldn't anymore.

( HEADCANON. ) felicia and connol's work schedules in the fissures sort of predestined that vi had to learn quick how to keep a house. she was cooking and cleaning by the age of five in order to be trusted alone with her baby sister; and as a result, vi is relatively skilled in a kitchen when given the opportunity to cook. while i wouldn't necessarily classify this skill as a hobby she finds an excess of pleasure in, i can say with certainty that she'd rather cook for someone else as opposed to for herself alone and she absolutely would jump at the chance if asked. the highlight of her talent is definitely making something out of nothing, because that's what she was taught to do not only from felicia, but also from vander. she's not a gourmet chef by any means and she doesn't long to cook, but when she does, others often find themselves surprised with what she can come up with in a pinch.

( HEADCANON. ) vi has undiagnosed hypermobility in her joints, primarily affecting her shoulders. that combined not only with fighting but also an excess of physical activity makes her particularly susceptible to arthritic conditions even at a young age.
